Revisiting things you already know such as Gauss Gun or Anomalies being changed after emissions is not expanding the lore one bit. And it’s even more disappointing when the final scene is just you running to helicopters to leave Pripyat with no further revelation or meaning to the story. It’s absolutely forgettable. Whereas Clear Sky gives us a different perspective on the stuff that leads up to the first game, and it adds a negative perspective to it all so you understand Streloks deeds may have made things worse, and overall enriched the STALKER atmosphere.

SoC feels the most linear at the start because the initial maps and sequence of initial missions are very tight but it does open up, highest atmosphere.
CS suffers from a incredibly boring start and a lot of the maps are some of the same maps you saw I'm SoC with small changes, ending is beyond awful and in reality CS is the most linear by far.
COP starts you with gear and a rifle. So it feels odd if you play this first. Maps are big and open. Missions allow you to explore more.
It's the most "stable" even tho all games are perfectly stable with latest patch and don't let parroters tell you otherwise, you can still find odd bugs and strange happenings that don't disrupt you finishing the game, COP is more polished in this way, in a strange way it takes away some of the slavness you could feel in SoC, it has an alright ending and more rpg elements.
I would still recommend you play in order but skipping CS to play after COP can be ok.

The biggest issue is. It's outdated.
I could say that it makes the game far easier by turning a game that has elements of an RPG, in which sometimes it can turn enemies into unrealistic bullet sponges and then complete allows you to kill them very quickly while not changing the player dmg taken formulas, making weapon and armor upgrades less meaningful, or how it auto applies medkits when you are low health, makes NV OP, lowers the AI visibility to the point of always allowing you to shoot first, makes the economy a joke, allows you to repair gear when in the original game this was not intended for balance, allows you to carry far more, among more things that change the nature of the game and people might say they are fine with that and want to make the game easier but like I said first. It's super outdated that's the big issue, even when it was first released back in 2009 or some shit, it released outdated.
It has an outdated ZRP. It has outdated graphical mods, even by 2009 standards.
It's far better to do manual ZRP install and then graphical mods on top. Takes you 1 more minute than with complete and the experience is true vanilla with bug fixes and better graphics.
Or you can skip the graphics if you want.

CS has much tougher AI in Master difficulty. Enemies hone in on you faster and snipe you, lob grenades constantly, and combined with reduced number of bandages, healing items, ammo, and money, the whole experience can be harsher and more resource management heavy. Also anomalies are much less forgiving and kill you instantly if you’re not paying attention. The only part of other STALKER games that can come close in terms of difficulty is the NPP assault in SoC, but I think some firefights in CS still beat it in difficulty.

I'm definitely not asking for Fallout tier of bullshit but the fact there is nothing to find in the world end up hurting the game in some way. All the loot is on enemies and practically nowhere else i swear the zone has been picked clean of any debris 3 days after the incident by the most thorough team of KGB agents.
I'd love to go explore these buildings and find a broken rifle or a discarded helmet or some medicine left on shelf or hell even some scrap metal to sell. I'm supposed to be a slav-ass scavenger i'll settle for scrap metal, let me pick up a fucking mug, SOMETHING not NOTHING.
So what did i ended up doing? I don't go into buildings because i know there's nothing in there.

CS was the first one I experienced and it bew my mind, the story isn't as good as the other 2 games but I loved the gun combat, too bad I couldn't finish it the first time because of a timed glitch that triggered always at the same time even on different playthroughs, think it had something to do with blowouts.
