I found the first trailer pretty intriguing. I actually think Kait is an actually pretty good character, and I’ll take a story lining surrounding her opposed to boring JD again. However it’s really bizarre they haven’t shown any gameplay.

The story got even stupider. Went from simple monsters invading and trying to survive to mutated exploding monsters, dad scientist, flood our entire city and other shit. The new characters have zero appeal and at the end of the day the enemies are just remixed Locusts. You cant do a whole lot with this world and it shouldve ended with 3.

This. The first game is about a group of guys doing the generic military shit at the time like most games were at that moment. But it gave a creative idea of enemies from the underground and giant weapon wielding monsters and large amounts of gore that it was as silly as it was awesome.

There was the side of stupid quips and arguing as two macho men went to save the world, but you had those human elements of loss and emotion that added to it.

The new games are 'after the war' where humans are rebuilding and have no more enemies that the main issue is the locusts re-emerging and forcing a repeat narrative like 343 Halo did. But the focus seemed more on the human element of things seemed to shine more then the gruff military shit. It's not 'Mans last struggle', its now a Hardy Boys Mystery Novel with guns.

Halo is basically the same, What was a One Man War for survival became.... I honestly don't fucking know thanks to Halo 5.

I would argue they intentionally chose to work on Gears and turn it into this mess precisely because of what it once was. At any rate, it was worth it just for the hilarious "trailer" with all the faces.

Hell, I think Gears basically followed a bunch of trends while pulling off the gruffest fucking guys people at /fit/ admire. Gears 1 and 2 were Military Shooters around the same time as Modern Warfare with Gears 3 being a fucking zombie title since those were becoming popular.

Another issue for the characters is there feels like no character to them compared to those from the first 3 games. Judgement was also kinda forgettable for characters, but I remember the Russian dude somewhat... Not as much, but I remember he was the enemy and then hired to fight Locust.

But you had the hardass and pissed off Marcus, the Sombre but buddy buddy Dom, The Happy-go-Lucky COLE TRAIN, The "I am fucking smarter then everyone here and the dumbness of everyone is pissing me off" Baird, And then you got the 3 Carmine brothers that were pretty memorable despite being dedicated 'die' characters and Dizzy and Anya and the jackass president.

Who the fuck are the new characters? The only one I remember is Marcus kid and even he is just generic...

Xbox360 didn't exactly have a wide variety of good exclusives. Gears was pretty much all they had after Halo and a handful of niche stuff that didn't really appeal to the Xbox audience anyway.

The whole plotline of gears was a World War over the diminishing price of fuel that was stopped after a group of mutated humans living underground had to flee their homes because the fuel was alive and basically a zombie creating fungus of sorts that was volatile.

The world proceeded to nuke itself and create a massive war where cities built walls and foundations to keep the Locust out while the Locust besieged them for 15-20 years while stuck in a civil war with their mutating brethren.

Once they killed off both the Locust (Who were mutated humans from the fuel emissions gone overboard thanks to science) and the fuel... The only thing left would be human vs human again unless you shoe horned the Locust back into the story somehow which they were forced to do.

Me. I just buy it for the Multiplayer like the beaner I am, and Horde mode as well. Gears of war was always competitive, alot of wetback try hard wall bouncing and gnasher battles, even we duels for it whenever there was a 1v1 situation. It was like Quake, minus the rocket jumping. It was fun, and still is, I loved everyone one, gears 5 looks pretty good but damn I was expecting gameplay, escape looks good but I'm looking forward to Multiplayer footage.

And we gears player are picky at, as long the Gnasher, wall bouncing, executions and no lag are present, we will love gears no matter what, at least for me and those damn beaners in Mexico.

Honestly even 3 was moving away from what made me fall in love with the first two. I loved the multiplayer above all else, there's just nothing else like it out there, but boy do the faggots running around with their animated rainbow gun skins really take you out of the experience. Didn't care much for 3's campaign either and probably wouldn't have played the multiplayer for anywhere near the hundreds of hours I did if I hadn't been so desperate to get away from the rubberbanding of 2.

I'm just holding out hope that the original trilogy gets a Steam release so people can build up a niche community and go back to playing the ones they love. Seeing the series as it is now just reminds me of how much better the 360 days seemed in general, not just Gears.

The fact the aliens are supposed to be dead, there is no central focusing character for these games (First one was Marcus son, Second is girl), and the focus is less about muscular men fighting for their homes and being fucking Mary-Kate and Ashley fuck with Crystals as the planets weather shits itself.

Baird and Cole deserved better, but the multiplayer was the worst part of that game

Judgement story was fine, But it suffered HEAVILY for the 'True Story' mechanic which just lead to a LOT of loading screens.
