Then today in their cinematic trailer they kill off the partner immediately, and show that the business partner is going to betray you. They just spoiled the first half of the game. I'm so pissed.

I'd say everything we've seen is it at the very beginning of the game. When V is in the car with Jackie, before realizing he's shot, he's cheery as hell about how they've made it to the big leagues. This makes me think that the job they did previously, where they got the spiderbot, happened shortly before, because he said that job was their ticket to big league jobs. I think the real game begins when you wake up in the dirt rubble and meet Keanu. Who I'm still not sure is a hologram or not.

If you watched the 40m demo they said it was further into the game, not at the very start.

There has to be something to hook you. However the character sheet shows different reasons for why you're there, and who your inspiration is, so maybe we'll have three different ones.
