Gen5 its what i always wanted from a pokemon game

BW2. It got me back into the series and had a ton of stuff to do after the elite 4 with a whole second half of the region to explore. I marathoned all the games after that (this was pre XY) and none of them gave me the same sense of adventure.

Albeit nowadays I don't think I can replay it, or any other pokemon game for that matter. They all just feel so mediocre to me now that I've experience many more games since.

Black 2. Loved everything about it. Its postgame, UI, graphics, characters, and even its region pokemon. The only thing keeping it from being perfect is no pic related

Platinum is probably the best pokemon game but my favourite is probably emerald.
Yeah I'm excited but the dynamaxing turns me off.

Favorite are Black & White 2. I'm lukewarm on Sword and Shield which is the first time since I got into the series when it started. I skipped out on Ultra SuMo because they did not offer anything meaningful. Sword and Shield may be the last game I buy if they keep heading in the direction they have been difficulty-wise.

Pokemon Fire Red. Platinum is getting better and better(in my second playthrough) and it may very well dethrone. The level curve is just perfect and I'm getting a sense of the amount of soul put into it now that I'm not an impatient 13 year old.

Gen 3 boi, has a ton of content.
Not quite. I feel the game is cartering more to the Go side of the franchize which might spell the death of the competitive metagame (which is a shame, because battling is the fun aspect of the game).

Gens 2-4 introduced new mechanics that built on top of the new ones without dropping support for the older ones, but gens 5 onwards have been dropping the old mechanics for no reason. Triple battles and Rotation battles were dropped, Mega Evolutions were dropped, Z-Moves will be dropped. This is a shame because by gen 7 Megas were still a very importat aspect of team building but get 7 did nothing to balance, improve, change or even add to the mechanic. Likewise I am sure Z-Moves will be completely dropped early one but will come back somehow making that eventually you're gonna have to balance out Z-Moves, Megas, (Primals too if you do ubers) AND Dynamax. Bloating the mechanics.

Because they fixed pretty much every little annoyance I had with gen 4 and managed to make me a fan all over again the way gen 1 did.
