The Nintendo Direct is our last hope or else we'll have to wait until TGS. Ace Attorney fans, GET IN HERE.
What can they do for AA7? In all likelihood, Athena will be the star, and that's fine. I feel like there's a growing consensus that Phoenix has become irrelevant and static as a character, so what will they do with him? I've also seen some complaints of the formula running a bit stale, so what can they do to shake up the game mechanics? I'm very curious lads.
Ace Attorney 7

I want Ghost Trick 2 with a new cast of characters or a new franchise.
>Ghost Trick 2
Please no, I literally want nothing to be expanded on it, it was perfect, don't taint it like this. I do agree that the creator should do more creative things though, he can make fucking masterpieces.
Now Maya will return with Phoenix and they will channel the victim outside of the court for more info, also they will get married and Athena will be the main character throughout the entire game while Phoenix stays by her side in court
>Shipping Phoenix with Maya
He is for Iris, cease this.
>Maya and Phoenix will never get married
I never understood shipping until I played these games. I just want Nick to put a biological child in her womb.
NEVER and Athena will be all down for it JUST YOU WAIT
Maybe set the game in Europe? Europe has been mentioned a lot in the past few games, Phoenix went there, Athena was there, Edgeworth has paid a couple of visits, Franziska is probably still over there, etc. It could open up the possibility for new court mechanics. Hell, we already have Borginia set up, set it there and then you can tie up the Trucy/Apollo/Thalassa thing in the final case or something. Hire me Capcom.
Nick is reserved for Iris, he would never betray her love. He and she will be Trucy's parents!
Technically there already was a case in Europe, in the layton crossover game, and it was the same system as the rest of the games, but they could retcon in the system from DGS(which is actually the system of the medieval world from the crossover)
APOLLO IS NUCLEAR NOW AND BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF NICK.
Is Ace Attorney a good series?
Iris is extremely boring.
Yeah, one of my favorites. Not for everyone though.
I hate that you are right but I will never stop asking for Phoenix and Maya to be together
Who is it for and not for?
>Not wanting a pure and vanilla relationship for Phoenix.
You're boring.
it's not for dumb people
It's the perfect time to announce AA7 along with Wright in Smash.
Phoenix and Maya are like siblings to me, super close friends, and have each other's back, but they're not for a romantic relationship. If Iris and Phoenix ever have a child, she'll one hundred percent be the Godmother.
I enjoyed the trial in NWN2, will I enjoy Ace Attorney?
Will they EVER mention the Jurist system again? Even as an offhanded joke? Like it's not difficult to say that they discontinued it or something, I can think of plenty of explanations that would work.
there is no fucking any possibility for us to be shown AA at the stage of E3 that is mainly targeted for western audience. AA has been not even getting physical releases just because you are nothing but peanuts for capcom. the game will be shown at TGS.
DGS1 was revealed during a Japanese Nintendo Direct, it's a small precedent but it has happened.
I need to finish SoJ but the burnout from DD fucked me up.
So what you're saying is I should ship Maya with Athena
One of my dreams is that they remake AJ and that they retcon that stuff, changing how the cases played out I guess
Spirit of Justice is unironically the best game next to Trial & Tribulations.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH
He's right though
CUTE!
>during a Japanese Nintendo Direct
are you retard?
What? Nintendo has always shown different shit between English and Japanese Directs.
>6-1 was a pretty good beginning case
>6-2 was the best second case in the series, next to 2-2
>6-3 was godtier
>6-4 was comfy
>6-5 was two cases in one, first half having some incredible fanservice, second half having some of the best gut-wrenching moments of the series, while also being hype as fuck.
based, SoJ haters have always been the brainlet section of the Ace Attorney community
I've had more fun with fan games than with the entirety of SoJ, and one of those made a 6-5(second half) but better
Start off with a tutorial case showing how Phoenix came to be Athena's mentor. Case 2 is in the present, someone dies at one of Trucey's shows again, Trucy is sad because Apollo is gone, and it ends with Athena discovering Phoenix has been hiding the fact Apollo and Trucy are siblings and their mother is still alive. Athena's disgusted by Phoenix and quits the Agency. Simon and Miles pull some strings to get Athena temporary work as a public defender and she solves a pair of cases on her own. For the final case, Lamiroir is the victim and/or defendant, everything turns out OK in the end, no more secrets, Phoenix apologizes for being such a dick, and everyone is happy. Except Trucy, who gave Apollo a 'special goodbye' and is now pregnant.
>DUDE MAYA IS LE KIDNAPPED AGAIN
The kidnapping was a ruse to hide the real twist
Thank
Literally inconceivable to me, they handled the game perfectly.
>He can't appreciate incredible story moments because he got caught up on that
Sad.
How would you guys improve Mood Matrix?
>Athena discovering Phoenix has been hiding the fact Apollo and Trucy are siblings and their mother is still alive. Athena's disgusted by Phoenix and quits the Agency.
too OoC
>Except Trucy, who gave Apollo a 'special goodbye' and is now pregnant.
I'm glad AA6 ended the way it did because I've always been afraid of something like this happening like seriously wtf is Phoenix waiting for, for them to fall in love? It drives me crazy like holy shit just do it already AAAAAAAAAAAH
Iris is boring and a criminal. Franny is where it's at.
no way that woman has the hots for edgeworth's frilly cock
Phoenix X Thalassa is where the real ship is guys
Franny is for Adrian.
shit you are right
But they were raised together. This is the equivalent to your platonic Phoenix and Maya argument that being sibling-like.
Literally fucking who?
By removing it.
So I heard Yamazaki stepped down from the director role, is that correct? If so, who's going to take his place?
I dismissed this post the first time but after thinking about it for a second I think it would be interesting-hilarious to see Athena react to sensing the attraction another woman feels towards her and seeing how she would deal with it. Thanks now you turned me into an Athena yuri fag (not with Maya though wtf)
>6-1 was a pretty good beginning case
It was a fucking retarded pile of shit, as fucking retarded as 4-3 with a shitty villain that breaks after one contradiction, a tiresome REEE KILL DA LAWYER gimmick that got old after the 58th time, and a fucking retarded prosecution that accuses a child of a murder that would be physically impossible
>6-2 was the best second case in the series, next to 2-2
It was fine
>6-3 was godtier
It was completely average. Nothing special about this case. Only more REEE KILL DA LAWYER shit.
>6-4 was comfy
Was garbage, with a dumbass story. Only redeeming factor was Blackquill dialogue
>6-5
Oh you mean that whole rehash of previous final cases mashed together into mediocre, cheap forced drama bullshit?
Fey sisters bullshit 2.0, bridge to the turnabout 2.0, Lana Skye 2.0, etc.
Ooooh wow, soooo hype to defeat the incredibly obvious Disney-tier last minute evil witch villain
Featuring Nahyuta, the worst prosecutor in the franchise, with his character arc just being another fucking rehash of Lana/Blackquill but completely devoid of any redeeming qualities.
SoJ is fucking mediocre and it shows how stagnated the franchise is. Nothing but fan pandering and rehashing shit from old games.
Based. Edgeworth is either gay or asexual anyway.
>haha I was just pretending to hate attorneys
>except I did hate them
>oh but I guess they're not so bad anymore
>oh and I was only an asshole because I was protecting my little sister from being convicted from a crime I thought she committed but turns out she was innocent
>except I was an asshole for no reason too
>what do you mean you heard that story before?
SoJ is a good game and it's refreshing as a pokemon/final fantasy game that a series can actually bounce back from a soulless and terrible modern entry like DD was. 6-5 is good but I feel like they almost tried to do too much at times, but on the other hand the killer being the case's prosecutor for the third time is a bit lame though even if it was handled well. 6-1. 6-2, 6-3 are all good, 6-4 is ehh but I'm biased because I despise Blackquill. Don't remember a single thing about the dlc case but I believe I enjoyed it.
I’ve played every mainline games, investigations 1 and both DGS games. I love this series but I’m honestly a bit burnt out after playing at least one a year for so many years. I’d honestly prefer if they just gave it a rest for a while and came back to it in a few years once the fatigue wears off.
I like /u/ as much as the next user. But no, not in this case.
lol dude the police just happened to never check this surveillance camera footage that shows a mysterious, injured man escaping from the robotics lab
any good AA fangames you would recommend?
Playing DGS1 now and I like it a lot, how does DGS 2 compare if I may ask user?
Eat my shit. AA5 is the best game in the franchise. Case 2 was garbage but every other one in that game was fucking fantastic. AA6 was extremely forgettable in comparison.
In justice we trust.
>actually defending trash like 5-3
>defending DA POWER OF FRIENDSHIP crap
>game where they reveal the killer at the beginning of a case
AHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA yeah man definitely
I found them both to be a bit mediocre. They were roughly equal for me in terms of enjoyability. They’re ace attorney so obviously they’re good, but id rank them down towards the bottom of the tier list with Investigations 1 and AA2.
I’ve never played VS Layton or Investogations 2 (although I own them both), so if I wanted to play another AA game anytime soon I’d probably just play one of those.
lol only the DLC was good in DD. The rest ranged from bad to average.
AA has always been a Saturday morning cartoon. If you can’t enjoy Saturday morning cartoon tropes you might be playing the wrong series.
The blonde lesbian from JFA
Really? I absolutely loved all of them except case 2 - especially the last case. I actually think the DLC case was less enjoyable than most of the main cases, although it was still very fun.
I've always believed that the mark of a good franchise is how varied the opinions of its community are. I've also noticed Ace Attorney fans have some of the most varied opinions I've seen, which reaffirms my stance that AA is a great franchise.
Honestly, the only great thing in DD was that dead body twist of where it was hidden, caught me off guard, and I fucking loved it.
Cringe anime shit was turned to to 10 starting from AA5 onwards.
Animated cutscenes were a mistake.
>fucking retarded as 4-3
user, you can't just throw around a phrase like that. Not even 2-3 is nearly as retarded as 4-3, and you're saying 6-1 is? Are you mad?
>posting the best scene in the entire series as if it’s a bad thing
>this trailer is almost 9 years old
All of the games are good. We just disagree to what extent they’re good.
Same with series like Yakuza and MGS.
I remember I was so fucking hyped when this was announced.
...then I never even got around to playing it.
>Athena will be the star
No thanks
>your honor, the prosecution asserts that this 8 year old kid overpowered this grown, trained man and slammed a box against the back of his head while standing in front of him on some stairs as depicted in the sketch
>also there were bloodstains all over the box, but they don't show the kid's handprints from where the blood shouldn't have gotten as his hands would have been on the way
>I see, and your proof?
>this video playing on this magical pond
Maybe you just got older and started to pick up on it more. I honestly don’t think the writing changed very much. If anything I’d argue that it should have changed more to reflect the characters’ growth. Phoenix still talks and acts the same way he did when he was a complete novice, and Apollo, Athena, Ryunosuke and Edgeworth all have the exact same internal voice as Phoenix when you play as them.
....is it not the entire premise of the game that you are practicing law in a very rigged system?
AA7 is actually a soft reboot that will take place 20 something years in the future wherein which you play as an upstart prosecutor, and one of the cases as you go against either a mature Apollo or mature Athena and Phoenix Wright is an old man now.
She wasn't a lesbian and I hate that forced analogy and that needless ship.
>applying realistic logic to ace attorney trials
>the series where you cross examine ghosts, robots, birds and whales
Finally. I always see people praising the last case of DD, but it got so fucking retarded with the Phantom hijinks at the end, it soured the whole case for me.
Like, the Athena and Blackquill stuff was pretty good, but everything related to the Phantom in the last third made it seem like they writers wanted to make the case as dumb as possible (even for AA standards). Like the mask part, felt like they wanted to pull another Furio Tigre, but wanted people to take it seriously.
>say this
>call 4-3 shit because "it's not realistic for a little kid to overpower this grown ass man and shoot him with a revolver"
So basically it’s just DGS but in the future instead of the past
>durr why are there contradictions that you have to solve??
I’m not the person who said that though, numbnuts.
4-3 was awful because of the part where you had to constantly rewind that video and the boring plot though.
I remember watching this trailer so many times being hyped for this game, but holy shit now seeing it again after so long you can tell how the game clearly changed a lot from their initial vision, it is pretty interesting to compare to the actual game.
You won't be dissapointed, I can promise you will have a smashing time with Phoenix Wright in the future
Sounds to me more like Apollo Justice 2
>the part where you had to constantly rewind that video
You literally watch the whole video two times in the case and the rest are just chunks, and few times at that.
People and their shitty selective memory, seriously
phoniex wright is a hard tgs game cause of all the text in it. keep in mind if it was announched at e3 then its more expected to be in english in a timley manner,.
I agree actually, I never had an issue with the video part of that case and I didn't even know it was an issue until I saw people online complain about it. I'd say the video in 1-5 was more egregious.
At some point they scrapped the whole story and started over using just the basic ideas that they already had like the Labyrinth City, Storyteller and Espella
Yeah, it's really bad that the game got fucked by dev hell. Would have loved to play the original game with its original premise instead of the mess we got.
Ace Attorney is going to go through an eventual reboot here soon though isn't it? It might not be AA7 or AA8 because there are still some loose ends, but I feel a potential reboot on the horizon.
It's a multiplat at this point, who knows when it's being shown, no point in Nintendo version, will run and look better on every other platform including phone, phone will look and run better more because they will put in effort to optimize on that platform, Switch multiplats recieve no optimization.
>you bluff, stall for time, and come up with the most outlandish theories and possibilities to defend your client
>all those theories turn out to be correct
Was there a case where you get the "Not Guilty" verdict but got at least some details wrong?
>keeps looking for a big strong person to depend on
>this person always happens to be a woman
>no homo tho
I think the series is due to get wrapped up already.
Obviously AA7 won't be the last game as they won't waste a new engine and shit they got running for the new game in just one game. But I think the series should just be put to rest already. The mainline is really going nowhere
It wasn't received well and it was push from higher ups anyway. No point if it isn't fun as well.
he didn't say during Japanese E3
They don't have to bring it back, just acknowledge that it happened at least. Maybe have someone poke fun of how quickly it was discontinued and have Phoenix being embarrassed about it or something, I dunno.
>I think the series is due to get wrapped up already.
I sort of agree. They need to either really shake things up in the next game or two, wrap up the series and leave it at that, or start from scratch again. SoJ did good on not ending with the status quo restored like most of the other games, but they need to do a bit more than that.
it's ok, although the 3d models are a bit off compared to the main games
Yeah, in DGS. Case 3 I believe. Your character actually starts trying to get a guilty verdict at the last moment, but you have made up too much retarded bullshit to defend your client and he gets found not guilty.
How the fuck has the Ace Attorney series had consistently great soundtracks?
Remember the last time Capcom said something was unmissable? Yeah that's what I thought.
NAME a more based man than Sherlock, I dare you.
Goddamn, Takuro Fuze can draw really well.
