HELICOPTER FAGS BTFO OF THE SKY
I'm fucking hype but I really hope they don't dumb it down cause of consolefags.
The only game that actually looks next gen. That's how a game should look in current year wtf.
Of course they will. if it's coming out on xbox then you better believe it's going to be some sort of lite version of a simulator, no third party support, no modifications. it's flight unlimited all over again.
cringe
>I take that bridge to work
What does Treasure island look like in game
>playing Civilian Flight sims
Please not like this, I've been waiting years for this.
Best game of the conference tbqh.
Pretty sure I saw some genuine FMS functionality in the A320Neo. I just want a good G1000
It's microsoft. They probably never learned from their last attempt.
you'll play for 2 hours then never touch it again
>tfw you get to fly a 737 max
Perfect training platform for 9/11 2.0 Electric Boogaloo

are you even aware of the amount of autism people have for flight sims?
It's going to be subscription based. I doubt they would allow an ecosystem to emerge with third party support.
>This faggot never played Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator
yes. only pilots in training and autists will play for any significant length of time
>more AirforceProud95 memes
I might actually get a VR for this. I might never have the time or social skills to leave my state but I can still see the world
>tfw they bring back the air balloon
Can't wait to do sick verticals at 400 km/h.
If it's moddable, what's the problem?
I don't think they've announced VR support.
They might water down the physics and controls.
t. took 2 hours to start the A-10C

Quick, post your planefus.
I remember begging my dad to take me to Target or something to get the first FSX game and playing it on my shitty ass laptop. Good times.
Stuff like this always looks really cool but I don't have the special type of autism to really get into these types of games. Cool for all you sim lovers though. Enjoy it.
*WHOOP WHOOP*
TERRAIN, PULL UP
>buy flight simulator
>spend 4 hours crashing planes into buildings
>get put on watchlist
Didn't the 9/11 terrorists use flight sim?
why dont people link the trailer in any of these threads about the trailer?

I doubt anyone would waste their time trying to mod it if its a closed system, and most likely addons and planes will be sold directly by microsoft. I hate it as much as the next guy but I have no faith in them to make things right for the community.

i thought the whole point of vidya was to get away from things wed be doing irl. why do you play these games?
Does this mean we'll be able to reenact plane scene now?
I wish I was flying planes IRL.
How can people play this? These are the absolute most jewish games in existance, every single plane is a $10 DLC, atleast in stuff like war thunder you can get most planes for free and you get to flail your E-peen around if you whale hard
I'm really curious if the maps are that good everywhere in the world, if so this is gonna make my pp the PP. Like, holy fuck it looks so good.
Go play IL-2 Faggot
It allows you to do things with vehicles you can't do in real life.
U mad
My dad had the last Microsoft flight sim game on windows xp and he had a force feedback flight stick to go with it and I used to dick around in the mission mode. It was fucking good and I've been waiting years to try out this game again. I'll buy a flight stick and everything for this I can't wait.
I'll never understand why my child self could never stop playing this
this image is literally burned into me
You can have your fat bloated Boeings, but I will fly in my Cessana through the mountains
so youre telling me you cant fly a plane into a building and only in flight sim?
t. brainlet who can't start up a jumbo
Do you repair cars, drive combine harvesters, plan international road trips, design buildings, burn people alive, and fly planes on a daily basis IRL?
is this the plane posting thread
Because if you're buying a well made aircraft in a flight sim, it'll have more effort and research put into it than most games, and it'll give you more play time than most games too. I've got 100 hours put into the F/A-18 alone and I'm faaaaar from mastering it.
>that airfield
>and how it ceased to exist because of Chicago brand corruption
It still hurts, man, it still hurts.
But yeah, I have fond memories of the same game from that long ago. Great fun.
>Ace Combat
>the Call of Duty of Flight games
Please try again sir.
There's no way it's subscription based if it's releasing on Xbox consoles as well.
I can't fucking wait.
I had the original Microsoft Flight Simulator X and the Acceleration expansion pack years ago and loved the fuck out of it
Unfortunately my retarded kid self lost the disc and everything so I haven't played it in years. Can't wait to sit back and be /comfy/ again
I wonder if they'll let people RP as Tower Controllers too
Thats true, CoD has content, AC doesnt. So they arent comparable
Yes it is.
You're talking about a medium where people breed pocket monsters for superior genetics, run around in circles for a metal slime and run in and out of the same room dozens of times for a chance at a soul drop. Grinding is fun/relaxing for many people.
>Flight Sim
>controllers
?????????????
in my head flight simulators are stuck in 1999 so this looks fucking mind blowing
I like to ERP as a tower controller
I just want DCS to release an apache helicopter but I guess that will never happen? I see they are releasing the f16. Still, I bought the fa18 when it initially came out and it didn't have atflir or the lightning pod, i enjoyed the a10 because i could actually see bombs drop on my enemies ,with the fa18 last i played i couldn't do any of that.
>John, you just crashed into the Empire state building.
>Hey! That would be cool.
There are at least 2 HOTAS sticks that function on the Xbox AFAIK
Let's practice our radio procedure.
>Yea Forums tower, Cessna 182 Foxtrot Alpha Golf
controllers are fine nigga. It's a fuckton better than using WASD like some keyboard warriors in this thread
no and i wouldnt want to play a game where i do that boring shit. id much rather be playing any decent rpg game than that. i just dont understand the appeal behind something as mundane as repairing cars, driving combine harvesters, planning international road trips, designing buildings, burning people alive (maybe), or flying planes. its stupid. and youre stupid for finding it fun
nice
Anyone got the image? You know which one.

Honestly, Microsoft Flight Sim games are perfectly servicable with a controller.
Lets be real, MS Flight Sim is sim-cade and not a true Simulator like say, DCS. But I still love the fuck out of FSX because of the huge array of planes that you can fly, even though there are better simulation games out there.
DQ
PULL UP. PULL UP. PULL UP.
look at this beauty
I use to larp as a kid playing FS 2004, would put the planet on autopilot and go to sleep and when I would wake up I would see how far I went. I wish I still had that kind of imagination. Comfy times.
can't wait for the millions of paid DLCs
It is not that hard user. Flight Instructors teach some real idiots how to fly a plane. You would be surprised who can be taught.
I'm sorry user, I'm afraid I can't do that.
thats a jrpg, stupid nigger. non jap rpg games dont always consist of turn based combat
Ahead of its time.
>RP as Tower Controllers too
I've seen some webms of people doing that. Are they real-life pilots taking turns, or real ATCs?
Oh so you like the pick-your-color type of RPGs instead?
>L-1011
great taste user
used to like euro truck sim in college when i didn't have my car because i like driving a lot. then i graduated and bought a car and now i can just drive whenever i want in real life.
I often play interesting scenarios in Flight simulators, like flying in shitty weather, instruments only, random things breaking, emergency landings
Its just comfy
It looks so beautiful, I love DCS but you can't exactly do long-range stuff as you can do in DCS. I just wanna fly around the world looking at blue sky on my computer.
Also with this coming out is it worth it to buy Xplane 11?
It would not be complete without an A-10, the perfect airplane.
I don't know why people think things are so hard. People have this mythological view of doctors, but if you've ever spent time getting to know them you come to find out they're just people like everyone else and do/say the same retarded shit as everyone else and aren't magical wizards of intellect who exist on some higher plane of consciousness. Obviously, a successful doctor is probably above average, I'm just saying that idiots get promoted.
my doctor friend once asked my why videogame spaceships could fly in the game but not in real life
Please tell me we can fly her. I miss her so much bros.
So at best it's something you play with until you get to experience something close to the real thing?
The best. They need to make civilian planes again.
Because these types of professions take thousands of hours of practice to get hired. So people think there is some extreme skill you learn during your training and practice. The truth is for flying at least it only takes a handful of hours to learn what to do. The time you spend getting qualifications is just to give you the experience you need to react to certain situations outside of that original training.
It seems the targeting pod for the FA18 will be released this month. I had preordered this module and didn't bother delving into it much because of the lack of TGP, yea it makes that much of a difference for me.

No, I know. I don't mean to say a cashier at Circle K can just be plopped into the pilot's seat and away we go. I'm just saying people sell themselves short by placing these professions on a pedestal like they're mythological and there is no way they could ever do those jobs. What? Why not? It's driving a car, but with more buttons and in the air. That's a reduction, but I suck at analogies and didn't want to use food or shit.
Only if they take out the feature where it explodes on take off.
>>no combat, no gameplay

what the fuck
Dont know if its still a thing but back in the day you used to have multiplayer modules for msfs that kind of fit what your asking about. There were two types of multiplayer modules afaik, vatsim and icao? Youd have pilots and controllers talking over dedicated voice channels analogus to their real life radio frequencies. There were no tests for being a pilot on the server but to host an airport as an atc controller you had to take some kind of test. I remember seeing adverts for fly ins on vatsim servers to test out the rookie atc. Comfy times.. i want them back
I remember it being pretty damn realistic back when I played it like 15+ years ago as a kid and I remember you could flick all the switches on and off but then again it was over 15 years ago so I could be remembering it all wrong. Do remember enjoying the fuck out of messing with flaps and all that though.
About to start pilot school, training in a Cessna Skyhawks II, any advice for a noob?
>every time I fly an airbus

Delete this.
around the same time they invent literally any type of heavy machinery that wont kill you when it crashes. the chair on which your fat ass sits can very well kill you if you crash to the floor because it just cant sustain your weight anymore
if only they had a real train simulator 2 with the global map
>trying to ebig troll in a flight sim thread
I pity you.
>I don't mean to say a cashier at Circle K can just be plopped into the pilot's seat and away we go
Why not? I have met students from Africa who could barely do math. Either they had bad schooling or missed the lessons needed but you sometimes have to teach the math needed to pre-flight. It sucks but unless they have downs syndrome or something you could probably teach them how to fly.
Don't crash
Do a flip to impress the instructor.

Fuck what /k/ says, F-35's are sexy.
F-14B has LANTIRN
Long term problem or is it something you can recover from? If it is long term I am so sorry man. You can still take the test as you don't need a 2nd class medical to take it. Just to practice it. Might as well get the certificate just to pay off all the work you put into it. After all the money you put in to train the exam cost is nothing.
You do realise that if this didn't happen we wouldn't have the tyre tech we have today which are potentially saving 1000s of lives. This was a blessing in disguise.
No flying game will be as fun and comfy as sky odyssey on ps2
My instructor is actually a cute woman, but I’ll try my best.
If you aren't overflowing with passion, quit. If you don't have passion for flying, you won't make it. You will work hard, study hard, pay a lot, and not get paid much, at least not until you make it big. Pilot's are overwhelmingly chads, so don't be an autistic loser either.
t. mcdonell douglas/boeing employee
Can I recreate the September 11 Terorist attacks in it like in Flight Sim X?
>female instructor
My issue with it is that it's over budget, behind schedule and misses mark after mark while being the most expensive weapons program in the history of mankind (i think that claim is debatable desu but it's no doubt very very very expensive)
For instance, all the models and variants were supposed to have 70 percent commonality. This means that all the models are 70 percent identical parts. In reality, it's about 30 percent. F-35 is 3 different planes and their loadouts/variants!
>We might see a combat flight sim this life time

I legit though this was never gonna happen, this the flight sim nerds ff7 remake moment believe it or not.

hope you like reading manuals! you're gonna learn to!
GUYS WHAT IF THE MAP OF THE WHOLE WORLD IN THIS WILL BE BASICALLY GOOGLE MAPS WITH 3D BUILDINGS?
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
Female pilots are the most competent women in the world. You can't pretend to like flying for attention, you have to actually be good at it. Half my instructors have been female and all of them were good.
I’ve only been on a discovery flight, but I really really enjoyed it, flying was kind of a spur of the moment, but I really need a career and be an adult and with the pilot shortage; I thought it would be a good investment in my future. And flying is really cool, I’m just terrible with math, and I’m scared how much math is involved.
Jokes on you, it'll have that and you won't know this but you'll be piloting real planes in real geographical locations through the game ala Ender's Game.
Could I learn to fly if I was on antidepressants in the past?
>How much math is involved
Barely any
Try doing math while flying a plane, it's shit
We have things in place to minimize the need to do math and thank God, if I had to calculate anything while doing an IAP I'd fucking shit myself and die
under what rock do you live?
No but seriously though don't panic and tense up when you screw up. Your instructor knows what they are doing and if they see trouble or are worried you might get into trouble very soon are going to take control for both of your safety. It is not a big deal as they do it a lot. Just learn what you did wrong and keep it in mind in the future. They are there for you to learn these things safely and you learn from your failures very easily.

Any of you autists ever go to space?
I haven't played anything other than Quake and morrowind for the last 6 years I shit you not
I like machines. I like figuring out how they work, prodding into them, fucking around with them, making them go. It's just satisfying to master and tame a complex system. Smoothly piloting a tremendous metal boat through the air and landing it just from flicking the right switches and turning the right knobs is incredibly satisfying.
This man is honorable and worthy of respect.
>tfw can't land the shuttle for shit in xplane
How the fuck do they do it?
I recall one of the MS flight sims had the ability to set your height to whatever you wanted, I set it to some insane height and just let the plane fall.
It never hit the ground but it was cool being in the black nothingness of what I assume was space
If you are not listed here you can probably pass a medical just fine. If you just want to fly recreationally a 3rd class medical is like nothing. If you want a career the medical testing is more extensive.
faa.gov
Thank god. Thanks for the advice. It was scary as fuck on takeoff and landing, but it wasn’t as tough as I thought, and we only went 2000 feet, but it was one of the best experiences I’ve had. Once I get my PPL the school promises a (paid) position as an instructor to gain hours for a commercial, so I hope it’s a good setup
I’m not really a spaz or autist, and the woman was very professional and has been piloting for a couple years and I trust her to help me through tough spots. I didn’t realize there were so many pilots on Yea Forums
Why is piloting such a based profession
>I will never install the Apollo addon and do a real time Moon landing with the sim running for a month straight
shit even emulates the real Command computer too
What school? Is it a brand or a local school?
Also
>I’m not really a spaz or autist
It is not so much that. If you are nervous at all you might lock up if things start going wrong. The worst thing you can do in those situations is fight your instructor on the controls. People panic. Even ones who don't think they will. It happens. Don't sweat it and if they want control give them control.
You can't bullshit your way out of an airplane.
If you're full of shit the ground will kill you no matter who the fuck you are or who you know....

It's very adequate and "Well, it's better than everything else in this small niche!"
F15 looks sexy as fuck but I still prefer f14-sama
My instructors made me use the E6B slide rule instead of a calculator, and asked me to do some simple head math while flying, especially during diversions.
>okay I am here, I need to be there
>draw a line between where I think I am and diverson airfield, get a heading with a protractor
>look at my map, do some quick thumb-widths to find distance, one thumb is 5nm
>okay so my divert airfield is 30nm away, I am doing 100kts airspeed
>but I have a 20kts headwind so Im doing 80kts ground speed
>30 divided by 80 is a bit over a third of an hour, so about 25 minutes to get there
>burning 8 gal/hr, should burn no more than 5 gallons, I have 9 gallons, thats fine
>cool, time to update my flight plan
just like it was back then lol. Seeing that screenshot set my nostalgia glands on fire. Do you play mods or vanilla?
Global Pilot Academy in Tampa, not sure the difference? When she says My Controls, I just put no pressure on the controls, but the lap advice is really good. I’ll do that next time.
Fuck, I’m literally like remedial with math. I guess I need to learn the basics again, I went to school to be a writer, so my maths really dropped off. I appreciate the advice
Will it have a third person view? I realize that may require casualized controls, since you wouldn't be able to click all the stuff in the cockpit, but for things that don't require all that much precision, I'd like to be able to fly in third person.
And do sims like this require a throttle stick, or will a joystick and mouse be fine?
you can't bullshit your way out of a calculus exam either, numbnuts.
we still have a million onions graduates
When?
>Adventurous flight game with music by Kow Otani
I should play this.
Microsoft Flight Simulator has had 3rd person view since the late 1980's
they've also been able to be used with M+K since the late 1980's
Hmm you are not far. I trained in Pompano. I am not familiar with your school but it is a local school and not a chain. They can be great or shit sometimes. I am sure you will be fine. Florida schools tend to be good since a lot of people come here to train since the flying is pretty consistent year round. Just watch out for storms. Especially over Okeechobee. Florida is kind of weird with its Thunderstorm development.
>Fuck, I’m literally like remedial with math.
It is all really basic math. All of it. Basic division and such. Some formulas but you just plug in numbers. An E6B is a cool device and does a lot of work for you. You don't need to know math to use it. It is a cool calculator without a battery that does all the hard math for you. It looks really difficult but it is actually incredibly easy once your instructor shows you how. Most of the time though you will be using your tablet or something to do the work for you. You still need to know how to do things the basic way though. But once you finish training you can just use your tablet to do your math for you.
>graded on a curve
Can't wait for the new airforceproud videos from this
I got to fly a Diamond DA-20A Katana in high school. Any chance of it being in the game so I can get all nostalgic and hate myself for giving up on being a pilot?
It is never too late to learn user.
Forgot to post the E6B
You’re based bud. I appreciate all the advice, cute instructor texted me the other day and wants to fly me over the beach, said the view is unbelievable. Are you employed as a pilot or still gaining hours?
It's so fucking good, has a fucking story and everything
Flight Sim X has copters. I don't see why they wouldn't be included.
>Have you been an instructor out of curiosity?
Yes. I try to teach them that lesson before fate gets a chance. If you treat it with respect it's incredibly rewarding.
This is core "airplane-ing" right here. You don't have to be a math wiz, but you gotta work your way around this handy bit of kit. The whole point is to likely never use it again, but use the foundational skills to one day look at your computer and go "hey wait a minute that number looks wrong as fuck" before it sends you off into oblivion.
Love the A380,go big or go home.
>wants to fly me over the beach, said the view is unbelievable
Beach flying is pretty cool. One time I needed hours and some at night for my commercial rating. So I took a flight along the beach at 750 feet flying next to condos all the way down to Key West. Then flew back at night after grabbing dinner down there. Was a fantastic evening.
>Are you employed as a pilot or still gaining hours?
Not anymore.
To back this up, my grandmother started learning in her late 50's to early 60's, and ended up flying pretty regularly.
Now I'm reminded how much I regret not taking her up on her offer to take me on a flight with her before she stopped and sold her plane. fuck
W-what happened?
Beach flying is great. An old instructor of mine, before he quit, took me down to the long island sound after flying the VFR Hudson corridor (which is crazy in and of itself)
We were cruising along at like 300 agl over the coast just looking at all the fancy long island houses and dodging seagulls, it was great
Nothing exciting. Family stuff.

Get your written done as soon as possible, it’ll make shit easier.
Flying itself is stupid easy 99.99999% of the time, it’s all the bullshit you need to know that’s hard.
Do jets like the 747 have keys to turn on? Do you take them home with you?

I never actually looked at NYC. This looks horrific.
>I might actually get a VR for this

Hope they model how Yuropeans obsession with computers make Airbus planes a real pain to fly. Don't forget, only based Boeing still allows the pilot to make the decision that WILL save your life, don't believe the socialist lies you see in the Seattle Times (probably sponsored by Airbus too!)
There is nothing to understand. Just 3 Class B Airspaces overlapping each other forcing you to fly low next to skyscrapers.

>Wow, that was intense, sure am glad its just a game.
BOOM BOOM CRASH!
>FBI breaks down my door and fills me with so many bullets I become more lead then man.
>They get hailed as the hero's of the world who stopped a budding terrorist.
>My ghost forever stuck to the Earth cause I was just trying to see pretty graphics.
How the fuck did you afford it? Rich parents?
You forgot
>Neighbors clap
Let me put this into perspective for you.
There's this program for X-Plane that will download Satellite images from whatever source you choose. Its called Ortho4XP.
Now I did all of Japan in Zoom Level 17, with 1km areas around Airports being Zoom Level 19.
Japan alone took about 200GB of Ortho imagery.
Only done a discovery flight, but the lessons are only about $110 an hour, trying to get a PPL then work as an instructor to rack up hours. Currently trying to get a job at a bank to afford it and take a class every weekend. Eventually take out a loan and go full time. Parents are well off, but not going to weigh them down or ask them to pay because I’m a pride filled idiot.
>trying to get a PPL then work as an instructor to rack up hours
It is still a lot of hours to get your instrument and commercial rating before you can get paid flying. If your parents can help and you still want to keep going after you get your private you should probably ask if they can help if you are serious.
I’ll figure it out somehow, I don’t want to ask them for that kind of cash.
no
It's not "just" $110. You need to pay a membership fee, medical survey fee, theory, material theory, language test, practical test, certificate, That's everything included 12K up front before you're even allowed to set a foot down in a plane where I'm from. And $110/h fucking quickly racks up to an entire years salary. And all of this is only if you're planning on flying planes as a hobby. No one will hire you anywhere with a simple PPL certificate no matter how many hours you got recorded.
Flying really is a rich mans game, that or people who are looking to indebt themselves for life.
user. You are just borrowing it. Pay them back over time. If you want to do this as a career you want to do it full time and fly as often as possible. You retain more and will spend less. If you only fly sporadically you will go way over the hours required before you are ready to take the test. It is not so important for your Private rating but if you decide after you got your license that this is something you want as a career you should really hit it hard and for that you will need loans.
Good. Hopefully DCS has some competition and they add combat mode. DCS has been scamming their customers for over 10 years now with half assed broken modules and shitty terrains, charging upwards of 70 and 80 for unfinished products where you become a beta tester for months and months. This is what current gen tech should look like. I mean it's really night and day comparison. I understand they are two different games but just look at that terrain, look at the sky, look at teh clouds.
I’ll go in debt. I was planning on loans anyway, I’ll figure it out. Don’t worry user, I want to be in the sky commercially
I know mate, work and lessons on the weekends, get PPL, take out a loan and go full time. I've got it
If you're planning on doing it commercially then It's worth pursuing and I wish you the best. Maybe in 20 years when I've settled down and put some money away I'll join you in the skies.
There are different levels of pilot licenses and they all come with some sort of limit.
But the cheapest you can get in the us is a sport pilot license, that could be just under 5k, but you can only fly light sport planes and you have a lot of other restrictions but hey you can fly.
>just reinstalled MS FS 2010 the other day for nostalgia
>try flying from my IRL city east over the Rockies
>damn this is comfy
>e3 happens
Honestly bros this could be the game that makes me upgrade my pc and get a VR set or a fat monitor, used to play 2004 and 2010 all fuckin day
>fat monitor
Funny how you say that because I still keep a CRT around for buttery smooth gaming at 96fps. Framerate is one thing, but the lack of sample and hold is what really makes movement seem smooth.
So can you fly anywhere?
Last I check the retards saying the F-35 was shit left /k/ years ago along with the A-10 fanboys convinced it was the best CAS plane ever.
Anywhere on Earth.
Tower this is November Uniform Tango Tango-77 requesting VFR for takeoff into Kino vidya
Ground this is Speedbird 135 requesting IRF to Echo Delta Delta Foxtrot at Flight Level 300
Guess we could see more at PC gaming show?
Phil was there last year.
it better have realistic damage models.
