Dragoon is a fun class to play. It definitely looks better in shadowbringers as well. As for tips, the story gets much better after the ultima weapon, so until then you dont miss much by skipping cutscenes. They are also adding the ability to replay the story so you could just skip it all to get to end game faster. Also read the tool tips on your abilities.

MCH's problem was never ping for me, I could weave shit in just fine with rapid fire, it was using flamethrower to slip into overheat and your action cancelling if your heated shots changed back to normal in that moment that was the fucking problem.
if you aren't playing on dial up or are using a VPN, you should be able to weave between a 1.5 GCD

There are multiple openers, but the core idea behind the rotation will always be the same
1. keep up epic dot
2. keep relevant cd's on cooldown
3. shinten like your fucking balls depend on it
4. deal damage

Depends on your Skillspeed. Lots of solid guides out there that are up to date, but the whole rotation is likely gonna get fucked in ShB so it's not worth learning.

It's a problem because you literally never have to turn your brain on to see everything the game has to offer. XIV at least has hurdles like Shinryu and Tsukuyomi that can't be cleared if half the group are braindead idiots.

At level 45 he's still in ARR, which is honestly just a fucking dull annoyance. They really need to trim the quests down or something for it for newer players. I have friends who I know would love the game if they didn't have to spend days doing just 1-3 button rotations and 500 forced fetch quests.

In XIV if you're bad, you're encouraged to get better, if you're good, you're encouraged to find other good players and team up with them.

Back when ARR was relevant there used to be a pretty difficult solo instance near the end. It's a cakewalk now of course.

I know people who literally fail every 4-5 Instances. Fight robots on the island with Gosetsu? Failed. Final job quest? Failed. Play as Alphinaud? Failed. It's fucking insane hearing them tell me they hate solo instances because they're so hard and they hope that one day you can bring party members in.

Healing isn't really that difficult in frontlines. Just go where the objectives are and if someone dies because they are alone or push too far it is their own fault for not understanding the mode.

I actually really like XIV because they do so much to give people ways to make the game world come alive. Perform, so many animated emotes, etc, people do cool things. It makes it feel like a world you want to do things in and not just a lobby between queues.

a lot of fights have mechanics that if you do it wrong, its a full raid wipe. halicarnassus had twice that amount of mechanics and complexity back to back but failure resulted in lower dps instead. snowballing was easier but it wasnt a straight up "fuck you" from the boss

Raids and trials are painfully boring because there are too many predictable outcomes. Yoshida addressed this in an interview some time ago, stating that the sort of random outcome a la FFXI mob TP moves would not work with FFXIV, since it's entirely possible for a shitty mechanic to execute multiple times in sequence and adversely affect mitigation or healing. To put it another way, you may get fucked by RNG and RNG alone. They've eased up on this a bit and we've seen many cases of randomized "chunked" mechanics. Recent example: Omega M/F will inevitably do shield and blades, but the order in which these mechanics occur is random.

Halicarnassus is especially complex because the player not only responds to the type of tile but also the position of the tile on the board. Guardian plays at this a bit, but those mechanics follow a rule where B always follows A, so there's some predictability to it. Hali has no tell at all; therefore, when you resolve her "pop quiz" with your available knowledge, you're getting more out of it than if you execute on some memorized choreography.

The empire is run by Ascians who WANT primals to be summoned so that calamities can happen and the worlds can be rejoined.

The issue of Gordias was that Crafting was a shiftfest with Gathering nodes taking 15+ hours of constant gathering to use all of the scrip bullshit. Crafting made i180 gear, not i190 gear. If it was held to the same standard as it is now, where prototype level gear was available on release, Gordias would not have taken so long. It was not "overtuned" as faggots who regurgitate opinions like to say, there was no real gear gate. People were shit, crafting couldn't make up the difference, and the raid was actually very tuned. The fact that you could have people die to sac strat and still clear should be more than enough proof that the raid's tuning did account for how bullshit Nisi is.

I think one of the main problems is you need to look at the boss's cast bar, aoe markers on the ground, and look to see if any of your cooldowns are finished, all while doing your rotation. Some people can't split their mind that many ways and therefore are worse players on average.

There are agreed upon general strats that you can follow even if you never communicate in the group. They also don't really have the usual retards who jump in blind without having seen any videos/guides while expecting to be carried.

I've been doing an omnicrafter slow journey through the levels to have a taste of what it was like (wvr and crp are maxed so I'm not going full autism, just partial), and HW crafting's been the most miserable stretch so far. SB's felt a lot more lenient thus far, though I'm not at endgame yet.

They basically tried to make HW crafting a straight difficulty progression from ARR crafting so had all sorts of really annoying shit like holy water or making really basic items like ore a hidden item on nodes. At least you will never have to experience the absolute fuckfest that was the favors system.

What you say is true, lots of people join farm immediately after clearing once, which is a problem. But I also find learn parties in na are different. It's usually "learn the whole fight" from my experience. When I joined my friend on the jp servers, there are parties for specific phases, or particular attacks.

Doton should be used as long as you think it'll survive it's entire duration with 4 or more enemies on it. I can often get 2 dotons on dungeon fodder.

Doton is only worth it if you are sure the enemies will sit in it for the full duration and be hit by every tick. If you would lose even 1 tick, then Katon is worth more damage.
