Except spending thousands of dollars for booths, stage, travel expenses, ect. They're the ones who dodged a bullet this time around. Their Death stranding trailer alone got 7M which is more than any game at E3 is gonna get and they got ad revenue from it

They would have got slaughtered for this because gaming isn't all about 1st party. Literally something like 80%+ of all games that are bought are 3rd party games so if they only show first party without advertising they have special marketing rights to 3rd party games it won't go down well. Outside of this echo chamber 3rd party games mean a lot. For example cyberpunk being an xbox marketed game and which will be bundled with xbox consoles will have a huge effect on xbox sales and perception in the same way cod being a playstation marketed game and bundled with ps4s has a huge effect on ps4 sales. You're underestimating the influence of showing 3rd party deals. Nintendo are the kings of the first party content but even they realise they need to top off their library with solid 3rd party content to accommodate for a whole range of people. There are probably more people who care about portable skyrim on switch than who care about astral chain.
Microsoft may not have shown much defining 1st party content but for their brand all those 3rd party deals like cyberpunk and 3rd party gamepass games will have a massive impact on their brand perception and sales because it creates brand association.

Besides there's already Death Stranding (Nov) and TLOU2 confirmed for early 2020 in the meantime. Ghosts of Tsushima likely around that time too. So expect those games as cross-gen. There are plenty third party games to fill in the time between now and the PS5 launch as well.
