He'll never top God Hand

is it confirmed he's the director?

He's probably supervising. She's directing.

>Make Contact
What did she mean by this?

fucking thank god, that john johanas guy made a really shitty sequel to The Evil Within

Grant imahara

Evil Within 3?

Yeah, this is my waifu. Got a problem with that?

I was thinking the same

user it's literally impossible for anything to top God Hand

>insane qt makes a fucked up horror adventure game supervised by Mikami
Sign me the fuck up, gaming is saved.

lol good one

She already did art direction for The Evil Within 1. Surprise: when she wasn't working on art TEW2 came out generic as fuck.

for sure, best part of today probably

That shit looked intriguing, let's see how it turns out.

I really fucking hope it's good because I love the setting and theme of the trailer.

Her art direction is good but a lot of her ideas in the art book for the game actually sucked and bordered on fanfic-tier shit. Honestly it made me appreciate how much Mikami kept her on a leash. We'll see how she works directing her own game.

underrated

>Using a cutie jap to make Yea Forums interested in his new game
Is Mikami the most based game developer?

no, he literally announced the creative director, which is the waifu that came out on stage.

She's like 47 years old, she could be your mom bro.

I hope so. She was ousted during TEW2 and that game had disappointing enemy designs. I just hope the gameplay is at least as good as TEW1 but with polish.

She had shit ideas for the game's story in TEW1 though if you actually read her thoughts/ideas in the art book wherein she had to be reeled in by Mikami and the rest of the team. I hope with this being a new IP and her doing her own thing it'd turn out fine.

The guy playtested RE1 knife-only just to see if it was viable beating the game with it. Kamiya is scared of him because he accidentally told higher-ups they needed 2 discs for RE2 when 1 disc had more then enough space for the whole game.

He's about as based as you can get.

Attached: Mikami610.jpg (610x456, 45K)

Just a reminder. Mikami made almost no effort to show off TEW2 or show off Johanas.

Just that he trusted Johanas after his work on the DLC.

>The guy playtested RE1 knife-only
fucking based. Real man right there

that's kinda hot

more like he didn't give a shit about whatever John made. He barely even tweeted about it. Just one tweet.

What is this gif from

As a matter of fact, he tweeted more about the hiring that Tango was doing around the time the game was announced, since Tango had a HUGE hiring for a new game in 2017.

>japanese qt
She is probably in her 40s...

PEGGLE TWOOOOOOO

How do you know it's not a horror beat em up?

The DLC was actually good, and TEW2 turned out fine and came out with no delays/hiccups.

The only problem was that Johanas wrote/directed the DLC whereas TEW2 was mainly directed by him and was separately written by one of the leftover writers from TEW1 (who honestly sounded shoddy).

TEW2's story was writen by an outsider to the studio. They got Trent Hagaa.

Oh wait didn’t people say she was fired after TEW because of some ruvik/leslie concept art? Was that complete bullshit?

Why didn’t she direct TEW2? She didn’t even do any art for it

She got started working on her new project at the time. Pre-production stuff probably.

Nobody fucking knows. A lot of staff from TEW1 didn't work on the sequel.

It seems very B-Team-ish. And if Ghostwire Tokyo is out this year and has people who were missing from 2, it's more confirmed.

Thanks for pointing out that she wormed her way back into my company, friend.

I'm making firing her again my top priority.

Attached: Todd.jpg (241x241, 11K)

She was set to direct TEW2 but Mikami took her off it for undisclosed reasons. I wouldn't be surprised if it's because of Ghostwire Tokyo and how she gets to do her own new IP.

EVEN BETTER

It almost seemed like a very Bethesda decision to get John to direct 2, especially because of the positive reception to the DLC.

Mikami had no obligation to actually go on stage for all of fifteen seconds to introduce Nakamura.

This proves that TEW2 was just a quick game they made on a side

Good job user

>Even Kamiya is scared of him
Holy based, what a legend.

>the only unique new IP from e3 so far is from based japan
does it surprise you?

>she was fired after TEW because of some ruvik/leslie concept art?
Not really, but she did have some really terrible ideas for the story that Mikami basically vetoed if you've read the art book. I hope with Ghostwire being new IP that she basically does her own thing instead of making fanfics out of Mikami's characters.

I liked TEW 2...

He straight up called in sick to Capcom just to avoid him for a day or two since he fucked up somewhere. I can't remember what specifically but it was in those RE2 roundtable vids.

The fact that he directed both the RE1 remake and RE4 will make him based no matter what else he does

Attached: Shinji Mikami.png (674x2000, 1.3M)

Have you seen the production notes on RE2? Mikami was fucking brutal towards Kamiya. Kamiya and his team were basically fucking up development until Mikami got pissed. He basically whipped Kamiya to hell and back for it, and it's practically how Kamiya made such a good game out of RE2.

Back how retard. That girl hes been "mentoring" (read: having anal sessions with) is directing the game.

He went to the doctor because he was coughing blood. Did a checkup but never returned for the results since he got better. Kamiya honestly sounded like he went through hell making RE2 with Mikami looming over his shoulder.

He got to the point where he literally went "You do whatever the fuck you want, I don't care" to Kamiya because it got so bad. Kamiya has gone on the record that he was glad Mikami didn't just straight up firing him though, which Mikami said was because that wouldn't teach Kamiya a single thing.

And God Hand.

Screencap this.
The secret game Platinum is talking about is co-directed by Shinji Mikami.

How many times is this nigga gonna retire only to come back and direct another game.

That'd be the fourth time.

>no evil within 3
bros...

Nice. TEW wasn't very good.

TEW was kino arthouse
TEW2 was cringe mcdonaldarthouse

I prefer Tango making new stuff then just Evil Within sequels.

Attached: 2670662-insidewrap-03-1024-11.jpg (473x686, 111K)

Everything I've heard so far makes it sounds like he's too lenient with her.

I just hope he actually sets her straight especially when you compare his work ethic with Kamiya back then. I'm all for qt Asian director but reading her story ideas in the Evil Within art book and her throwing a fit over them really made me cautious of her doing directorial work.

>TEW was kino arthouse
>this revisionist history
TEW had good gameplay but that doesn't fix its shit story. Ruvik may have been a great character by his lonesome but development was so shot to hell to the point that scrapped story material even made it into the game when they had no right being there.

>TEW was kino arthouse
Being a mess of different ideas doesn't equate to art house. It's crazy that Mikami went from such tightly constructed games to that.

This. New IPs are always the better route.

>they've been working on this since TEW1 DLC finished
>they've been working on this for 5 years with no release date in sight
Doubtful. They probably started another project that got canned first. I have to wonder if some literally who gaijin doing TEW2 was Bethesda sending someone in to organize the company into releasing something during an interim since they knew restarting work meant the wait would be long.

Huh so is it true TEW1 was meant to be story-focused and without Mikami directing but then he took charge after development issues and he did whatever the fuck he wanted?

Sound likely to me. Mikami never gave a shit about story, even back during RE1 and that's a good thing.

What RE? Might have to get an original copy now.

Good, games have devolved in this decade and Mikami is in a revolutionary crusade.

Attached: 1552115483503.jpg (500x426, 10K)

Mikami is old now and this isn't his franchise baby like RE was, also back then Capcom wasn't in a great financial place and a lot was riding on RE2. He's also older now and probably less hard on his employees. I also think TEW1 constantly changing settings was because Mikami salvaged a fragmented game and put the pieces together.

If any of you have read the Evil Within art book, you'll find that it's because Mikami basically just took what the team made and just did quality control for the game's overall sequencing (both in terms of gameplay pacing and mechanics).

Beyond that, he barely gave input on the game's story details wherein the basic template he required was having a hard-boiled Spanish detective lead (Sebastian) and a not a Jill-type female counterpart (Kidman). He would only interfere and veto ideas when they get weird or went too far (like Ikumi going full autismo with her fanfics about the characters).

This. Those games alone will make me a fan of his for life.

>I also think TEW1 constantly changing settings was because Mikami salvaged a fragmented game and put the pieces together.
That's pretty much what happened. See

RE1 remake. It's still in there in the HD remaster I believe which is on every current gen platform.

Thanks for clearing that up user.
