One of my favorite parts about Tales games is how each character plays different from each other. You can get a whole new game experience just by rotating through the party.

Eternal Sonata was good art, very good art.
It was like walking through an exhibit whether it be in regards to the level design, music, visuals, ect. The characters were okay but what really made it for me were the little things like the biography of Chopin's life inbetween each chapter or the ending animation. It all came together to form a very unique experience. And I loved that. The story and the characters were okay but I weren't what made that game such a wonderful experience.

Instrumentals were in Legendia, Symphonia, Abyss, and dubs were for Graces F and Vesperia. I don't know about Legendia but I know the other two were both Japanese songs. I stopped playing after Graces F because I couldn't deal with the shit being pushed in Xillia so I know it's the first nip opening which is a first for them but I can't remember if you could select the voice cast.

Bamco just fucking abandoned Code Vein didn't they? The production values for Tales look really big, not to mention Miyazaki is back working for them.

Tales Of has been plagued by confusing writing, hyper tedium, obnoxious backtracking, timed/event specific quests, cliched characters and hit or miss combat.

Even if they crapped out another extremely generic looking Zestria clone, the real questions about the game have yet to be answered. I'm extremely optimistic but also wondering how casualized it's become, on top of their staple problems.

They kept saying "well, if you didn't like this Tales game, you could try this one instead", etc. Fast-forward a few years later, and I'd beaten Phantasia, Symphonia, Abyss, Berseria, Graces, and Vesperia. I've also played Eternia, Xillia, and a bit of Innocence, but never beat those. None of these games were particularly stellar in my opinion. They're run of the mill JRPG with nothing unique but their action combat.

Abyss is by far the most interesting game in the whole series world and plotwise.

Vesperia is interesting for different reasons, though. You can see how hard the japanese devs had to struggle and wrestle with the concept of killing evil people for the greater good with Yuri not putting down that psycho noble until he'd done all sorts of horrible shit. I can imagine Japanese players themselves being conflicted. Meanwhile as an American all I could think of was how I and everyone I know, even the women, would have slashed his throat at the first opportunity given the same circumstances and couldn't believe he waited as long as he did. A true case of conflicting worldview, which you don't really experience much from games these days I don't think since everything is made for the global market.

The legend of Zelda has always been an action rpg with adventure elements, what they did is just make it open world, but all the mechanics of the old games are there, nothing changed, just the world design.
