I hope they didn't put down the ps3 PSN because I'm bored af fuck and cant for the life of me find a turn based rpg that doesn't look like shit.
I never played P3 or P4 and decided I'd like to try an SMT.
Pic related and nocturne are both on ps3. Which one should I grab as my first SMT, Yea Forums?
I hope they didn't put down the ps3 PSN because I'm bored af fuck and cant for the life of me find a turn based rpg...
This one
Nocturne
I've never heard anything about this one, but people say nocturne is difficult. Is this one also? Assuming I enjoy it, is the second one also worth a go?
DDS is the closest to a Persona game in terms of difficulty and tone compared to the rest of the SMT franchise. If you want an easier/more accessible experience, go for DDS.
DDS is easy and entry level and of generally good quality. Unfortunately it only tells half the story and DDS2 goes full retard.
Playing through it so far. You're in for a fucking wild ride. It's probably the most story driven in the SMT series.
I'd prefer a more difficult experience, so it looks like I'll do nocturne. If it's good then I'll grab DDS.
>closest to Persona
>no demons/ personas
I do not comprehend. But I approve of your main message.
It really picks up at the sequel. Except for the fact that hard mode in 2 takes away unlocked skills every new cycle.
>in terms of difficulty
Try reading the entire sentence before replying next time.
The demon transformation thing is basically like Persona summoning, since each of your party members have a single element/skill set that they're most suited to. Compare to Demon teams in Nocturne which are much more modular in terms of composition.
Just emulate it.
DDS is a slog that gets rid of the better aspects of SMT in favor of more mainstream jrpg gameplay mechanics and as a result it's much worse than mainline SMT. The story and music are great though.
Let him decide what to do with his money
DDS1 is ball busting hard. DDS2 less so. You NEED to eat or you'll die. Play Nocturne first, though. DDS is difficukt brcause you can skill fuxk yourself if you dont plan the skill trees ahead.
t. Finished P3, P4 DDS1, DDS2, and SMT3 on PS3. Data carries over from DDS1 to DDS2 PS3 without issue. You could buy all of Atlus PS2 Classics for $5 a pop on sale days.
>Just jailbreak it.
My PC is currently retired until I move in July. I'm bored right now though.
Also, I've heard you only control MC and not party members in nocturne. Is DDS like that also?
play devil summoner while you're at it.
You're thinking of Persona 3. You control all party members in both DDS and Nocturne. However in those two you can only customise stats of the main character, while your demons/allies have fixed stat growths
>DDS1 is ballbusting hard
What?
>DDS1 is ball busting hard.
>fuxk
Dont play it on the PS3
Specially not nocturne, since it has a bug that may lock you out of fighting the final boss
Its really not alike. I jumped to demons/ personas because you can have a hell of a hard time in persona without fusion, and that makes it like DDS. And in the inverse scenario, you cannot make DDS play like Persona. Not even like the original trilogy, save maybe the use of Estoma.
And well, its not like Raidou games are as difficult as DDS, especially since there's free movement.
It's easier than nocturne, the second one is necesary. It's just a continuation of the story, it's basically a 2 part game.
Nocturne is legit dog shit. Just play DDS
I'm playing Nocturne right now and I thought it was easier to get into than DDS.
Nocturne has a good difficulty and feels a bit more fun to play in my opinion. DDS was easier, but there wasn't really much to the gameplay to get invested in and the game takes a while to really pick up in the story.
Nocturne with the demon fusion and talking mechanic is just a much better entry in my opinion.
based ivbabby retard
I'm a personababy. Nocturne is honestly boring as shit. I've tried to play it 2 times and dropped.
Wait did people take these off PSN? I downloaded Nocturne on my PS3 last year I think
People talk about it, they just don't make hourly threads like Personafags
I feel the complete opposite,
have tried Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 but couldn't finish either of them, first time playing Megaten games, but SMT: Nocturne was fun as fuck, one of the best turn based JRPG's I've ever played.
>played related
Expected: SMTxMadMax
What I got: SMTxDrakengard/Nier with a hint of Evangelion
Spoiler for dds1 I haven't finished 2 yet.
what the fuck. I actually didn't think it was a virtual world. I thought it was going to be a twist in which everyone dies in the cruise ship and this is some cruel game God creates to see who's worthy for reincarnation. Playing through the first hour of dds2 made all my theories slam straight to the ground. I legit didn't think all of them were A.I. am I just stupid?
Where's the best place to get ps3 roms these days? coolrom?
I liked persona 4 and 5, but the problem with those games is that's there's so much fucking dialogue and story related shit that it takes hours to actually start playing the game. Then it drags on for longer than it should. Give persona 1 a try and see if you like it.
What does Yea Forums think about this boy?
He's pretty great. Definitely bro tier.
What? I've seen this with legend of legaia on ps3. This is extremely disheartening.
Theres that new xcom looking one with the animals that looks pretty good
