Continuing on this, the hero of DQ5 is not even a classic hero type character, the hero of DQ11 is stuck with just swords, the hero of DQ6,7,9 are multi-class, the hero of DQ8 has courage skills and tension.

They pretty much all have lightning magic, can use a sword and shield, have basic fire spells and can heal. Maybe some deviate from that pattern but if Ness can have PK Thunder then I think they can swing this.
