define art

Technically speaking, video games are the ultimate art medium, since they can contain every other medium within itself.

antique dolls are toys not art

But toys can be art.
Playing games is not art, game design is.

great, even less of a reason for agenda pushing on a platform of toys.

>the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.

videogames make you feel emotional user?

Unironically true. I cringe every time someone mentions games as art.

What about sculpture.

>video games tell a story, it's literature
>video games have musics
>video games have modelled worlds/characters, similar to sculptures
>Somehow video games are not art

>music is art
>3d modeling is art
>laying textures on these models is art
>writing a story is art
>building a world is art
mix all of those arts together in a videogaem, add a handful of Yea Forums's magic, pooooof... games are not art

also toys are art

isnt minecraft all about "sculpting" your own world?

a form of entertainment that reflects the current state of the world through the eyes of an artist.
Paintings can entertain, films can entertain, vidya can entertain.

If there's a story and music, yeah.

if you're making it a conditional, then video games are art to hundreds of thousands of people, no?

pic rel

lore is a lot more important than story tho

It may not be art, but it sure as fuck is beautiful

The main issue with vidya as art form is that they're thought of as an industry. They always had, except that before the main value was customer loyalty (makes a few BIG games and convince people to immediately buy your next one, with a continuous cycle of sequels and new titles), now the main value of the industry is "milk those faggots out of everything they have" ; the player is thought of as something disposable, loyalty isn't needed
