You thought it was fun playing it with your best friend and your cat lady wife.

You thought the clickboxes on a lot of the enemies were unnecessarily large.

mechanics are broken beyond repair

I don't have a best friend and I'm not married
Correct
Correct

1 was better

Played it again recently, still looks good and is fun to play. Could have used a little more content or an expansion but theres still a ton of mods that ad a lot more stuff. And it always shows up in sales so its worth grabbing.

You missed those random dungeon maps from the first game.

no, boring game with barely any skills to use so no variety. unironically worse than diablo 3

I hated 1, and apparently 2 is the boring one so that's like anthrax for the sell there.
And apparently Hob was also fucking boring.

I'm glad the studio is dead.

Man playing outlander is fun, especially with a shotgun build where you stun the absolute shit out of every enemy

I've tried like six of these Diablo clones and they all got boring.
The gameplay mechanics are just fundamentally weak. DUDE LOOT LMAO doesn't make up for how boring the combat is.

no - it was too dull and cartoonish

Any fun class mods out there? I kinda want to play it again, but would like a new-ish experience.

I've decided that I really just don't like Diablo-clones, the gameplay, or anything like that, but I did like the two games they clone. Or rather the one game. Nobody clones Diablo 1, maybe because that's a solid game and not an endless skinnerbox.
Diablo 1 is carried by atmosphere, sound, and pacing. That game is like 4 fucking hours long. It doesn't waste your time.
Diablo 2 is carried by the great sense of intrigue you get going in. I did get bored playing it, but I just wanted to see what happens next.

The clones have none of the above. They are purely just more Diablo 2 skinnerbox bullshit, and god damn it's boring.

the only diablo-like that i utterly enjoyed was Kult Heretic Kingdoms, but mostly because it was doing its own thing and was full of unique ideas.

missed potential/10

It's sad that they dropped it so fast. The game's severely lacking in content and extremely unbalanced. Only Engineer and Embermage are really worth playing and armor is basically meaningless since damage reduction runes are so OP.

If you want hilarity, just play an ice based Embermage, you can teleport around and spam super powerful AoE attacks wiping everything in seconds.

anons, I really want to get into some grindy arpg, but I'm sick of Diablo 3, Diablo 2 is too old for me now, torchlight not enough content, poe is too confusing, and grim dawn I don't want to pay for all the expansions.

Am I missing a game? Is there anything out there for me?

If you can get past the art choices, probably

pirate grim dawn? There are only like 2 expansions anyway

>I don't want to pay for all the expansions.

I own the game just not the expansions. I thought you couldn't pirate it because it's multiplayer

I have never written a Steam review before, but I felt like I should for Grim Dawn. I love ARPG; POE, diablo, diablo 2, even diablo 3 which isn't great, Torchlight 2, Titan quest, etc, and I really wanted to like GD but I just can't. The story is ok but pretty generic and there is not too much of it, the graphics are mediocre (which isn't a problem for me), and the skill trees are rubbish. The gearing and lot in the game is done really well. All the stats and in game skill damage calculators are fantastic. The UI is done well. Crafting is not great but acceptable. The game's atmosphere is nicely done. Sound is ok. NPCs are boring and forgettable. The worst part of the game though is the character builds. Ive tried a few different characters; pyro, druid, necromancer, and Death Knight, and none of them felt good. This game really punishes you if you want to use multiple skills. If you pick one skill and just upgrade if fully with just passives you wreck through everything on veteran difficulty, but then you are just pushing right click through the entire game. Then if you spend your points on multiple skills and try some diversity you do almost no damage at all and are just standing still spamming all skills forever trying to take out basic enemies. Ive read on the forums that it is typical to just use one skill till level 50-65 then it gets a bit more interesting, but that is basically end game at that point. So you go through the entire campaign right clicking till you fall asleep. There are only a few movement skills and not all classes have access to them, and the speed increase is capped at 35% so you can't even speed through the grind. There are devotions that you can unlock to add power to your skills but once again they are just passives and rely on you right clicking enemies. My 2 highest characters are 40-50 and it just didn't seem to get better. The game skill system is just dry and boring and not fun at all.

it was really fun until i got my endgame set, tgen there's nothing to grind for so i stopped. needed a more robust endgame based on random loot not this easy to get set shit

Did you do Tarroch's Tomb? It's the highest challenge in T2.

i don't remember, when i played the hardest area was a purpley dungeon before the last boss, it was years ago

nothing else to expect from a grim dawn fan.
