I only played through the first level. Seems fun enough.
It's pretty good.
One of the best, really. It's a platformer instead of a collectaton, but there's shit to collect if you so desire
Yes, one of my favourites platformers and my favourite Rayman game.
It's a brilliant one.
Music, gameplay, aesthetic. It's honestly one of the most "magical", if you will, games ever created.
It's amazing
It's up there with Mario 64 in terms of soul and gameplay
it's great, costs pennies on gog and runs perfectly so go play it
>tfw 3d platformers are absolutely dead
It's okay but very shallow.
>playing the utterly broken PC version
It's great and doesn't waste your time like lots of other games from that era did. Very few collectibles just pure platforming.
PC gamers will eat up anything if it's on PC. The Dreamcast one is definitive.
what is wrong with the pc version? I played it when it came out and ran fine without any bugs, played it again recently on gog and it was also fine.
remake with revised combat would do wonders
Yeah, it's a good time. Right up there with SM64 and BK.
you have to apply bazillion fixes to make it work, I tested it myself and without these fixes it's unplayable, DC version is the best
>Right up there with SM64
nah, mechanically it's too rigid
Hall of Doors is more soulful than Isle of Doors
I think pc version didn't have some stuff that dreamcast had. I don't remember, the fucking game is different on every platform or something
It's a wonderful platformer, tons of soul and I've played through it over 15 times. Not as good as Banjo Kazooie or SM64, but an excellent game in it's own right
Yeah, but with that rigidity comes way less jank from physics and other shit.
It also became boring by the second level and relied entirely on gimmicks
PS2 version is the best one because of the semi open world you can explore between the levels
it's locked at 30FPS though, for a platformer it's a huge downgrade
The only difference is that the dreamcast graphics are better, like some textures and special effects... nothing big, to be honest. PC version is the N64 version,i think
It’s among the greatest ever made
It is but Ubisoft keeps porting the worst version. If Ubi could just add the hub from Rayman Revolution onto the Dreamcast port we'd have the perfect port.
found stupid comparison
Yeah but seriously fuck that lava temple level with the plums.
remake announced this week r-right?
fuck off remaketard
Nope. Just another port, worse than the last.
Rayman 1? Rayman 3? Haha... N-never heard of it please buy Rayman 2 again thank you
I always imgsine how ridiculous someone would look replying like this in real life
>see you in rayman 4
youtube.com
>not playing the superior Rayman
What do you guys think about Rayman Revolution?
shit framerate
yeah but how about rayman M?
not as good as Crash 2 but still good
some level redesigns were well made, hub worlds while pretty didn't add much except locking progress/abilities
too hard for the casuals of Yea Forums
very underrated. one of the best 2D platformers ever really
Im still angry about the entire rabbit shit why didn't they just continue off Rayman 3? Nobody asked for the rabbit trash
it's popular bro
Got to Blue Mountains and gave up because I'm a too much of a shitter to beat the game. Fuck having to collect everything too, the new games honestly spoiled me
Only Ubisoft Montpellier gives a shit about Rayman. Don't expect anything.
Yea it's pretty annoying that you have to collect everything to finish the game
was this the running game?
yeas
I said because the image looked familiar. but im pretty sure that my game was called rayman rush?
That's the PS1 version, which was only about racing, Rayman M/Arena was about battling and racing.
Reminds me I still need to finish this. Got it through PS+ and it plays really well
>Rayman composer died a few weeks ago
it's not fair!
how does the pc version play?
Legends is really good and I hope Barbara continues to be the 4th with Globox Ray and Teensie moving forward if there are more games.
But nothing in legends is as fun as the treasure chest chasing stages in origins sadly.
I really can't get into legends despite loving origins, I think it's the slapdash hub/progression system
One of my favorite vidya of all time desu
Like the first day in a W98SE.
Still playing in W10 without problems
>it's real
>comicbook.com
His kickstarter for the rayman ost tour failed as well
>Not posting the best Rayman game
It's a mess. The game is a huge experiement. Not very good.
>Played this game when I was 8 on my brothers PC in 1997
Man that shit turned boys into men
Fuck the world of art supplies
i heard that it has some music differences compared to the console versions. can you fix that?
HYUCK
*sad trombone*
how so?
Maybe even the best.
youtu.be
I still have to play 2
I don't like it much. The weird funkyboard bits are probably best but still pretty boring
I prefer the music levels over the Tricky Treasures personally
Oh right, I forgot I installed this on my 3DS yesterday. I never finished it because it needed a memory pack on N64 and I didn't have one, and when I eventually got one I stopped playing it for some reason. The last level I remember is some kind of inflatable cube castle where you could ride a rocket on all 6 sides
Composer of Rayman 1 died a few days ago. Too based for this world.
Same. Kind of sad.
What the FUCK was his problem?
Ubisoft were pushing for the wii stuff, and thought that a bunch of motion minigames were the future apparently. The rabbids were merely a symptom of this problem.
>remember looking at those concept arts for rayman rabbids back in nintendo power before it was released
>game finally comes out and it's nothing like that
>rented it and finished it in an afternoon
Incel rage
>Rayman 1, 2, 3, Origins and Legends are all at least 9/10s if not 10/10s
How can one series be consistently this great?
3 is really more of a 7/10 bro
How is the PS2 port anyhow? It sounds a lot better, but people really just talk about the Dreamcast version.
Nah 3 is a perfect game
I think it was just a cheap cash in to make. Wii had a lot of weird minigame shit. Just put rayman name there somewhere and it's automatically more recognizable in the bunch.
Weirdly enough rabbids were somewhat popular, but then again so are "minions" from that one movie so what the fuck do i know.
This will be the year, Yea Forums? A new 3D Rayman?
youtube.com
Doesn't run too smoothly, but I did enjoy the extra content. The hub areas and having reasons to go to these places as opposed to 'it's just the next level' made it feel more like an adventure than a series of levels.
I'd say it's because the rabbids simply fit mini game collections better than Rayman did, and were allowed to shine more as a result.
I doubt it but I would love it
Would prefer to get a trilogy bundle or remake though as I've yet to play 2 and 3
So you would recommend emulating it? I technically played it as a kid, but I honestly can't recall which version I played. I know I had 1 on PS1 and 3 on GC, but 2 has always been this vague memory.
I can hear this shit in my head while driving on the highway sometimes
It's become a part of me by now
I would. Regardless of what the superior version is, it's still one of the best 3d platformers ever made.
Thanks. I'll check it out. It's the only main Rayman game I never finished.
Yes it fits better, but I don't know if it would've become a thing if it was originally released as totally new ip and not "rayman raving rabbids"
Hell I don't remember if rayman was in that game. Probably somewhere but mostly it was just rabbids.
>hardest enemy in the game is in the second world
now that's what i call game design
Michel is too busy with Beyond Good & Evil 2 and Wild.
>Wild
Feels like he's following a gaming trend that's already on the way out
Holy shit
gon play ps2 ver right now
Nobody asked for 2D to return
It's finally playable. You install Glide emulation and controller support fixes. Finished it just a few months ago at 1600x1200 in 60fps.
Without fixes it randomly switches between 30 and 60 fps.
>trial & error for hours until you can beat a level
This game can fuck off
versions with voices ruin the whole atmosphere which is the best part of the game
rayman 3 is also pretty cool but 2 is leagues above, 1 is meh
Based. This game was my favourite as a kid.
>tfw when Murphy says “see you in Rayman 4!”
or you could just use Reicast and play it from the get go
zoom zoom
Implying you even played it. Everybody who tried knows that it can only be finished with 99 lives code.
Tonic Trouble was the experiment retard.
>Shell riding levels
I can never tell which way is up after doing those
I've beaten it several times on my PS1, I still remember most of the secrets (extra lives and cages) off by heart
>Can't play it if don't have "Quick Save State"
Get out of here Zoomer, no ones likes you
Literally one of the greatest games of all time.
Revolution literally makes Rayman 2 a 10/10.
Framerate shitter can get fucked.
you're objectively wrong desu, the lightning ruined the atmosphere and the hub world was unnecessary
Great atmosphere. Levels are a bit too long in my opinion. It genuinely lacks some gameplay polish which gives it more soul though.
>Rayman barely sold at all in Japan
Why do Nips have such awful taste?
cuz no cute waifus obviously
I like the PS2 version except for the the energy orb shooting animation for Rayman, they made it look so retarded. Other than that the game looks great, the voices are charming, and the new music for the overworld areas was made by the original composer, so it still sounds like it could be in the original versions
Because the one they got made Rayman's body blue. A sumb reason was because purple in Japan is a color of death & evil or some shit.
from fast search that might be wrong purple was color for high up people and not be used by peasants. couldn't find anything about death or evil
I played it back when I was 10 years old in 2003 and it ran fine!
>see you in Rayman 4
it's an animeposter of course their post is going to be retarded an unhelpful. Booting up a computer is hard for them.
>N64 is the original version
BRB, getting a copy of the N64 version. Been putting that off for a while.
>2003
no shit retard, it was fucking 2003
N'ah I'm 100% correct. you're talking out of your ass desu.
I swear I played Rayman on PC, but I also remember those bandaids, what the fuck
Why would a 14 year old in Japan give a shit that they changed Rayman's shirt color during localization? How would he even know they changed it, considering this happened in 1995. The theories that people throw out on this site are completely asinine.
Have you seen the Ly the fairy design in the Japanese version of Revolution?
pretty hot
> stull no definitive edition that has all the content from the various ports
Blasphemy
I understand the bodysuit, but why the face?
fuck you "le thicc meme" fairy whores
Ly is the best
This is the year, Rayman 2 20th anniversary.
Imo revolutions does more harm to the game than good. It adds in a lot of pointless walking, a shitty ability store and shitty minigames. Original hall of doors layout is best imo
listen to this guy you cucklord
It's easy but really great, weird tone whiplash from Rayman 1 though
Where's the fucking sequel/remake?
This, I like you user.
Meh. It was a serviceable 6th gen platformer but it doesn't even come close to Rayman 2.
It's a great game. The world is very interesting, the challenges don't ever get repetitive and the tone is quite unique, featuring very good, lighthearted humor in a rather grim context.
It's just distilled soul. Also fuck the Dreamcast soundtrack.
Band aids were everywhere in the game, but the ps1 version for some reason added a band aid in that room at the intro.
i played and completed it on pc without any issues
aside from the fact that the disc literally exploded inside the cd drive and the shrapnel got embedded in my knee
Im just happy this game isnt getting ported anymore this shit was like the game virus in the late 90s-mid to late 00s ITS EVERYWHERE FOR FUCKS SAKE
I love this theme, it really has an atmosphere of "we are reaching the end of the game but this is not over yet." How can a soundtrack be so based?
youtube.com
I remember feeling like I discovered the biggest secret ever when I rode that plum backwards as a kiddo
>not a SINGLE The Cave Of Bad Dreams poster
I enjoyed it a lot and I played on what people consider the worst version of it (ps1) so I'd say yes.
>n64 soundtrack
I see you are a man of taste. I know the Dreamcast ost is technically better, but I think the OG version scratches an itch that the dreamcast version can't.
