MechaSonic is, was, and has always been cooler.

Why they abandoned this design, I have no clue. Metal sonic just looks retarded and has the proportions of a 4 year old, where as Mecha sonic actually looks threatening.

Making a villain that imitates that was a mistake. Mecha sonic captures Sonic's iconic look and redefines it with a threatening demeanor.

my favorite Sonic character design hands down. mecha Sonic is cool but I think metal fits the Sonic ascetic much better and I prefer his simpler design. And the jet engine chest is neat.

My favorite character right behind Sonic. Begrudgingly, I bought Sonic 4 Episodes 1 and 2 just to play Episode Metal.

I always thought the idea is that he still has that personality, but its just held back by his more restrictive programming.
It came out again in that shitty kinect sonic riders game, so it shows he still has some aspects of his resentment. Same thing with the comics.

Yeah, that OVA was pretty great. Not really on the writing and lord knows not on the dubbing, but the fights were really well done.

Eh, Omega is the "good guy who uses questionable amounts of violence" If Metal Sonic breaks away from Eggman he would be apathetic towards him at best because his programming is "to be better than Sonic" and he would realize Eggman is holding him back.

Metal is the best rival in Sonic.

Eggman never really holds him back sure he keeps him from fighting him as a part of his plan but all his improvements and evolution are thanks to Eggman.

Imagine a game where Eggman is the villain and you storm his base near the end of the game. Now what if Metal Sonic suddenly shows up and the rest of the level is the race/battle you would expect from him. Difference is that Metal Sonic isn't allied with Eggman and the fight ends up destroying large portions of his armada, a lot of the damage being caused by Metal Sonic since it's faster to just fly through Eggman's shit to get to Sonic. Maybe have Eggman bring out a large mech, which is quickly destroyed by Metal since it's getting in the way of the race/battle.

That conflict was pretty great, but the actual build up to it was dull as fuck. It's like Ian pulled this event out early because they were calling the current state of the comic boring and uninteresting, and it sure as fuck was.
