Are those games good?
The way they talked in-game always was an huge detractor for me

BK is a really good platformer
BT is a weird 3D metroidvania platformer that most agree on being too slow and tedious
poor man's mario 64
Play BK for sure. If you really liked it then play BT
Someone post it.
They aged like shit
wrong, BK holds up incredibly well. I replayed it recently
I don't know. never really played those games
If you really break it down they're nothing more then collectathons, but, and that's a massive but, with a level design that is so far ahead of everything else, that it's still barley matched today.
Kazooie is pretty good.
What's the general consensus on Tooie? Never played it
>What's the general consensus on Tooie?
see
I bought Mario instead like a normal person
It's meh. It has a unique charm but the gameplay is mediocre at best. If you want to try something you probably haven't play Glover.
>metroidvania platformer
Quit using terms you don't know the meaning of, you 3rd world stain.
yeah I realize now how redundant it was
I think Kazooie is an advnture in the lamest sense of the word. It starts out pathetically easy and it seems almsot insulting but the further you get into it the more the game lays it on. Levels get more complex, time spent in the hub get more exponentially more complicated. By the games final challenge you're baiscally amraathoning 4 versions of the same level.
Tooie doesn't quite get this right but if you liked Kazooie you'll at least tolerate Tooie.
Yes, I think this video describes it best:

I played it for the first time and couldn't even complete it of how aged it is in comparison with for example A hat in time.
BK is not a bad game, it just aged, a remaster would be a great way to reintroduce it to new generations.
lol BK improved on mario 64 in every way
What's wrong with the talking in Banjo-Kazooie? Usually the dialogue is quite funny or interesting. Also, Tooie is a fantastic game. Don't listen to the zoomers who think it's too slow. I played it when it first came out and it's a great adventure that really has tons of content.
>couldn't even complete it of how aged it is
why? aged how?
unless you're using an N64 controller, which I could understand as that controller makes anything play like ass, it otherwise plays really well and holds up to this day.
A few people complain about Tooie being too difficult or long, but I never had that problem (even as a little kid). Both games have aged better than most N64 game, especially Banjo Tooie. It's graphics are incredible for an N64 game.
I loved playing them as a kid but I also remember sucking really hard at them, not being able to get many of the puzzle pieces. But it has a great atmosphere. Considering the reception that Yooka Laylee of whatever the fuck it is called got, I'm not certain if they hold up.
i swear to god i'm not trying to derail, but what notable qualities do banjo and kazooie have that could make for interesting movesets in smash? what gives them personality in their own games?
kazooie is a good 3d platformer collectathon
tooie is garbage
Banjos a franchise with one decent game and one good concept for a game that has no business being a banjo game (and it was mishandled to the point of not really being worth playing anyway)
Kazooie is an ok game. It hasn’t aged all that well and is a 6/10 game. Tooie is far better in every way. If you had to pick one, go with Tooie. It’s a 9-10/10 game.
Kazooie can fly, shoot fire/ice/grenade eggs, seperate from banjo, invincibility dash, turn into a dragon
Banjo can roll, punch, use kazooie as a gun, transform, hit people with his backpack, jump into his backpack.
Put them together with banjo for a moves and kazooie for B and combo moves and it would be easy
>that most agree
Based retard
Except the actual controls, and I say this as a massive BKfag. They're simplistic as hell and there's no fun platforming autism to be had.
Still an overall more fun package than 64, however.
t. contrarian
Most people don't agree on that, retard. Even though they should because the game is miserable shit
Better that than being a zoomer that gets his opinions from youtube.
Yooka-Laylee proved beyond any doubt that those games were always shit and only reason people like them is nostalgiagoggles.
they do though, ask anyone or even make a poll on it and I guarantee that'll be the majority opinion
nigger I played these games when they came out
1 was great. 2 was meh.
No. Yooka-Laylee had no soul and didn't expand to new hardware, that's where they got it wrong.
Mario Odyssey proves that you're wrong
> Bing - Bing - Wahoo!
Its a fun 3D Platformer. The polygraphics do seem "dated", but they look just fine..
I played them again recently, including Nuts n' Bolts, and I still loved all three of them. But it's just a matter of opinion.
Banjo levels tell better narratives but yeah, SM64 is definately the apex of mobility in the 64 era. No game seems to come close to the flexibility and nuance to his movement.
Kazooie also can use clockwork kazooie eggs (think like the Mechakoopas) and, while flying, use Beak Bomb, which causes Banjo and Kazooie to hurl themselves forward like a missile.
