Based Carmack.

>questlets can't keep winning bros
Questlets with their inferior hardware makes more people be able to play VR which in the end help the high-end VR as well.

Attached: Shinobu5VR.webm (960x540, 1.96M)

Does the quest allow leg movement to move in game like rift and vive?

Like does it somehow track your position?

Can you walk freely or do 180s and it trasnfer the movement to the game like room scale tracking vr

I guess it could since it is already using cameras to scan your room anyway.

Attached: FromSoftXSonyJapan.jpg (1920x720, 292K)

What if i wanna play outside and run around in a open field larping baka

I guess we will have to wait for Valve to start building literal lighthouses for VR tracking.

You can but it needs to be in a shade because direct sunlight blinds the cameras. Theres already a shitload of youtube videos of people playing quest outside on huge empty roads and running around like morons.

youtu.be/-V_UCN8HTAk

It does

yeah because bringing normies into gaming worked out so well with pancake games

quest supports room scale tracking spaces, but it's only the headset and controllers being tracked in that space. for actual leg tracking you need Vive Trackers or a hacked Kinect.

you don't get it you fag
without the normie audience, there is no future for VR at all
it is how the world works, if you can't appeal to the majority then you will fall into oblivion

normie games will maybe be shit and there'll be more of it, but it also means the tech will be there for the ever elusive good vr game that will appeal to the niche thanks to them being a thing in the first place

What are the best VR games straight up

>without the normie audience, there is no future for VR at all
it's bullshit. 'the normie audience' is not actually 'normal', it is another way of saying 'lowest common denominator', which is something that ends up being below nearly everyone. thankfully that is not quite where VR is headed, yet, even in facebergs vision. we could certainly get there in time though, eg. Nintendo Labo VR.

Distance is the best VR game, and it's not even a VR game.

>the normie audience is not 'normal'!
>it's just 'the lowest common denominator!
>no I don't care if that's literally what defines what is normal or not
I'll just leave you to it

Distance is the fucking shit

I'm a Vivefag so no Oculus exclusives for me.
>Blade & Sorcery
Great physics based melee fighter. Feels much better than GORN while still making weapons have weight. Berserkers and Half Swording mods are essential
>VR Dungeon Knight
Combat isn't as in depth as B&S, but it's a really good dungeon crawler
>Sairento
Turn on thumb stick/touchpad movement. It's a great mix of movement and combat. It has an arcade mode too, so you can have your friends try it out.
>Blasters of the Universe
It's a bullet hell inspired shooter. It won me over when a wall of lasers made me have to drop prone to dodge it.

DEAD FAD

I got Skyrim VR when it was new and couldn't get into it. They mod a better UI into yet? Can I just grab items and corpses without having to scoop them with shields.
>Blade & Sorcery
I think the roadmap has dungeon crawling on it. At that point, I'll be hard pressed to play any other game

>I got Skyrim VR when it was new and couldn't get into it. They mod a better UI into yet? Can I just grab items and corpses without having to scoop them with shields.

Look up Vrik. It allows for better world-scaling and you can see your in-game body with it.

Sky-UI now works with VR. (It's found here:github.com/Odie/skyui-vr/releases)

>I think the roadmap has dungeon crawling on it. At that point, I'll be hard pressed to play any other game

If this happens along with more spells, it will become my GOTY.

Is there a game worth my Rift setting up again?

youtu.be/0TXSOCSH9KA
To the guy who said there was no simulation games. Here is a video of a game on Steam that is pretty close to a great VR experience with racing. You can play his really well especially if you have a steering wheel as a controller.

What's your tastes?
I'll set that stuff up later today. Thanks fren.
I've been suggesting he take a page from Nimso Ny and make the whole body physics ragdolled (or at least the torso), climbing will be way better when it's not using fists. If VR Dungeon Knight played like Blade & Sorcery I don't know if there'd be a need for any other VR games.

Could you play at night?

>I'm a Vivefag so no Oculus exclusives for me.
Isn't Revive a thing?

>To the guy who said there was no simulation games
How can people say that when X-Plane has VR support?

Yes but do not expect it to know if you place your hands randomly behind your back.

I fell for the meme

Attached: file.png (634x137, 26K)

I know right? He essentially said in the last thread that there was no real simulation games for VR as a good reason to own a VR headset. My reasoning was that VR is great for chat, Simulation, Porn and Waifus currently. Games will be much more down the road.

>Games will be much more down the road
I would argue that even closed VR systems like PS have good games to choose from like Astro Bot, Wipeout, Blood & Truth, Statik, Firewall, etc.

Great buy. I am getting that soon. Rift S is good but I heard sound quality is not the best. That's why I am going with Samsung.

I really wish onward didn't feel so clunky 75% of the time.

Agreed. The competition is heating up and it's a good thing. Soon enough we will get wireless VR headsets by PS5 and next generation for 200-250$ easily.

Go to pornhub

just download NordVPN like all those youtubers tell you to do

3Dsen looks really cool too. It makes the pixels into voxels. It's on steam. I may drop the $20 on it because I'm a consumer whore

Can I download more RAM? Thinking about it, I need to do a lot of work to my PC. My streaming audio and video desynch and it's killing me.

I wanna try the Vive ADS on my Quest, But I hate how fucking ghetto the velcro looks.

The standard strap is fucking ass.

With the PS browser or downloading something from there?

Alright makes sense. It's an emulator. I subscribed to the channel hopefully there is more things being made for it. Definitely would have that nice 2000's/90's feel.
That looks neat as well for NES games.

twitter.com/EmuVR/status/1102323606720299008?s=19

If you're able to move files from your PC or phone to your PS it may be simpler to do it that way. I know I have to download videos to watch on my Vive. If you're into being a cripple getting fucked by a giantess, your about to hit the fucking jackpot

lightgun support when

I hope soon. The project has so much potential right now.

Why must the VR thread be continued when it is clearly a fad that is already over?

no (unless there's street lights or a giant moon). the tracking is done via optical cameras and (probably) SLAM. it's just looking at a b&w video stream and working your position out that way.

>clear upward trend
>i hate this, it's a fad
What's it like to be a boomer that's going to be left behind while he cries how the fad will be over any day now?

He's not a Boomer. I'm a Boomer. I've been waiting 30 fucking years for this tech. He's a buttmad zoomer that can't afford nice toys.

3DTV also had an upward trend

3D TV sucked tho, everyone who tried it was "meh". Proper VR is awesome, everyone who tries it is mouth agape and grinning within seconds

why do some people want VR to fail so badly?

What "game" is this

>Old good
>New bad
I think it's Virtamate

It hasn't been updated in a while so you can probably find a torrent easily.

stop posting the same webms in every VR thread

aight this is all ill say about VR, Smartphone VR is a total sham, fell for the meme when i got my Galaxy S8, worked for a good 15 minutes before it totally got way too overheated, literally almost bricked my phone had to use warranty to fix it.

long story short get a real VR system if you intend to try it.

Anyone else with a rift s think the tracking is shit? So many fucking blind spots which immediately ruin any immersion.
What kind of retard came up with the camera placements on the headset, adding one or two more would have made it miles better

Mobile VR did so much damage. So many people think they've tried VR when that stuff is barely beyond 3D glasses. This is why Facebook's race to the bottom with the Quest is also a terrible idea.

oculus doesn't care very much about pc-vr right now. iribe quit over the purported cancellation of a rift 2 proper. it's a very small market and they're probably running at a net-loss in the space.

rift s was probably a wmr headset originally.
it's lip-service more than anything, because they know they'd have a pr disaster if they didn't launch a new rift alongside the quest.

oculus / fb want mass market appeal asap.

People on here want everything to fail because their brains have been burned out from too much shitposting.

tell me this oculus niggers

when WMR gen 2 comes out with 5 cameras and new knuckles-like controllers for 2-300 dollars, what will be the point of getting a rift S?

The main thing is Rift S is decent tier but Samsung Odyssey+ and a few others did it better. Rift S does not have much sound quality either.

Comparing the Quest to mobile VR is fucking stupid.
The Quest has active cooling, will never have to throttle, mostly a PCVR library and full 6 DoF tracking.
Every person I've shown the quest to was amazed by the experience.

Attached: ultrawings1.webm (800x800, 2.93M)

I still use Facebook so I'm still in that ecosystem.

>when WMR gen 2 comes out with 5 cameras and new knuckles-like controllers for 2-300 dollars
actually talking out of your ass ahahahaha
this much cope

Good list but add To The Top to platformers(?) and Airtone to rhythm

So are there any actual VR video games or are they still just beta test demo caliber shit?

>odyssey+ and others did it better
I'm talking about the fucking tracking here, how the fuck is two front facing cameras better than 5 cameras on the rift s?
I like the display a lot, no complaints there. Audio is trash but I use earbuds so I don't really care. It's the fucking tracking that ticks me off, so much that I am considering returning it and waiting for rift 2 or upgrading the computer from a 1060 and buying an index once it stops being sold out.

But it literally has a 2 year old mobile phone chip, making it only good for minigames and tech demos. It will hold back the development of proper VR games for years.

Test demos are by definition actual games.

Only on the PS4 really

>how the fuck is two front facing cameras better than 5 cameras on the rift s

microsoft's been heavily invested in tracking r&d since project natal. they're actually quite good at it and never stopped working on it. they demo'd some new stuff recently which was leagues ahead of where everyone else is right now.

>it literally has a 2 year old mobile phone chip
It's overclocked besides the cooling, so bringing it in the range of current SoCs performance wise.
>making it only good for minigames and tech demos
Look at the Library, it is mostly PCVR games ported over
oculus.com/experiences/quest/section/274907549851488#/?_k=r0sts2

Attached: apexconstruct1.webm (800x800, 2.99M)

Only $300? That seems like a really good price.

Exactly, devs wasting their time porting old games instead of advancing the medium further. At least it's only affected the simple games.

>demo'd new stuff
We are talking about the current headsets, no?
Unless there is a confirmed release date in the near future, it is basically irrelevant.
Two in the front is no match for 2 in the front + 3 looking at the sides. If 5 cameras are shit I don't even want to try 2 cameras with no tracking on the sides.

>For controller tracking, I tested both headsets with Beat Saber and Thrill of the Fight (a boxing game). Both the Rift S and Odyssey use inside out tracking, but I found the Rift S’ tracking to be far superior. With the Odyssey, I missed more cuts on Beat Saber, and in Thrill of the Fight, one of my gloves would fly away occasionally, leaving me to fight one handed every now and then. I also found that my shots sometimes fell short of my intended target. With the Rift S, I missed only a handful of cuts in Beat Saber, and in Thrill of the Fight, the Rift S tracked my controllers perfectly (in both cases, I turned off the game’s option for drift protection, which otherwise limits the controller distance).
360rumors.com/samsung-odyssey-plus-vs-oculus-rift-s-299-399-budget-high-resolution-vr-headsets/

>devs wasting their time porting old games instead of advancing the medium further
they need money, otherwise VR is fucking dead. That's what the quest brings them.

It's not a coincidence everything on the Steam store is amateur looking, even popular stuff like Blade and Sourcery. There is simply no money in VR for medium sized dev teams and up.

Attached: hmmm.png (1248x599, 82K)

>Oculus keeps getting more and more exclusives vs any other headset

Was getting a Vive a mistake?

odyssey tracking is awful but that screen is so godlike especially for the price

Honestly the vive is kind of trash

Either get a Oculus Quest or Rift S for convenience and access to oculus exclusives, or go all out with the Index and hope someone makes revive with the Index Controllers in mind.
Maybe the Valve VR games end up not being garbage

Attached: vader3.webm (800x800, 2.86M)

nah, this was a new kinect demo iirc. the wmr headsets don't actually come with the same sensors and i don't think they will any time soon as it'll be cost prohibitive.

those new kinects are quite something though, 6m range. 1cm accuracy at 4m. low power, wide fov, low latency. i can't find the video right now but they had enough fidelity to be able to track the tassels on a hoodie. it's just exciting future-shit.

>mobileshit quest
>bad tracking rift S
wow, you are really bad at recommending things

No thanks I do not want to be Zuckerbergs bitch.

The Apex Construct demo seemed nice, but it really bothered me that the arrow attachment to your hand was a few inches off where it should be. Aiming like I would in any other game would put the arrow right between my eyes rather than lined up with my dominant eye. It seems like this would be really easy to fix, but I doubt it will be since the game has already been out for a year.

>Only the Quest can be good
>Hey a Quest
What is with the shilling of something that closes itself off from SteamVR and various other things?

should i get the rift CV1 or rift S?

Attached: 1556536972035.jpg (672x676, 33K)

What else would you get if you don't want to spend the money on the Index?

HTC is an absolute trash company with shit support. The vive has terrible controllers that constantly break besides barely being serviceable, the worst screen with heavy SDE and godrays. It's only upside is lighthouse tracking.
WMR is not an option

Attached: mobileshit.webm (800x800, 2.9M)

I think people want actual VR threads instead of /vrg trash. Sadly /vrg always seems to find its way here too.

unless you're doing beat saber expert maps or it's your dreaming to be an archer in VR, WMR tracking isn't THAT bad

WMRs are extremely affordable. you get what you pay for, and you get an excellent display as well.

Anything is better than facebook at this point. The rift S in particular is a disaster.

Exclusives shouldn't be a problem for the vive as much as they are for oculus.
The problem with the vive is the wands being trash garbage

Attached: file.png (1200x1153, 222K)

Oculus rift S should be coming to my house within the next two-4 days.
I have for VR:
Elite Dangerous
Subnautica
FNAF VR Help Wanted

Gal* Gun VR
Hatsune Miku VR
Hot Dogs, Horshoes, & Hand Grenades
Pavlov VR
Raptor Valley
Serious Sam Fushion (2017 Beta)
Spooky's House of Jumpscares HD Renovation

I'd list Onwards and Star Trek but those are basically dead.
Any other VR games to get?

>considering buying VR
>everyone says it's a meme
>buy an Oculus Rift
>it's been sitting in my closet for a year and a half
I didn't listen.

>still no VR game where I can be a goddamn hot-blooded mecha pilot

Onward is hardly dead

>Hot Dogs, Horshoes, & Hand Grenades
Anything with a long stock is pretty fucking unusable on the Rift S, so literally every unmodded shotgun

yep, games are literally having to add a "virtual stock" option to make up for the bad tracking

I'm a hardcore otaku and I'm not even interested in /m/ I doubt any devs in california would be into /m/ either

It's only an issue in H3VR to be honest, I can play Onward and Contractors fine but you need to either use their virtual stock option or condition yourself not to hold your right arm where it normally should be

Reminder that third-person POV is underrated and underutilized in VR and the medium will never take off until people stop making fucking shooting galleries and minigame collections.

Did you shove it up your ass yet faggot?

>getting this mad because someone doesn't like his toy
That's a Yikes! from me.

This
You'd really have to sell me on the gameplay to get me to buy a mech pilot game
No doubt the starting up sequence would be amazing, but that only lasts for a minute at most

This. Even strategy games or RPGs from a bird's eye view would be cool. D&D where one player DMs from above while the party adventures in 1st person VR game when?

This.
If they can make a true gen 2 MR at a very attractive affordable price it will be a boon to VR as a whole. Its still 1.5 tier atm, and the software side of things still needs work, but as long as MR achieves steady growth into the market we'll see more native support for MR instead of post-humerous patches or fan patching solutions.
Its still a very portable, plug and play solution. Know someone with a decent PC and some floorspace? Take your MR headset in its case over and they can try out VR too within minutes.
My friend had a Rift and I never got to try it because it takes so long to set up it was easier to just watch a shitty old movie for fun.

this

Come on user, it's obvious the games are gimmicky crap.

>being so poor he cant afford 1k

>I view vr like going to the gym.
Makes sense, considering all the VRfags on this board disregard all criticism of motion controls as "ur just fat lol" and the games themselves are as boring and mundane as an exercise machine.

stay mad fatty

This seems like a reasonable but slightly exaggerated response if the criticism is "I'm unwilling to move more than a few inches". That isn't actually a criticism of motion controls. It is a statement about yourself and your personal preferences.

Most burgers can't even afford $500. In the richest country in the world. It's sad but the cope makes sense.

I'm against motion controls and room scale in general because I think it encourages bad game design.

That is true, when comparing to OG Rift. It's still lightyears ahead of any WMR.
