I hate the "soul" meme because it conflates soul and nostalgia. But Chulip has soul. Chulip is the lifeblood of A person, and A person's passion, it's THEIR life as a video game.
And it got fucked by horrible marketing in Japan, nonexistent marketing in America, releasing after the launch of the PlayStation 3, and only being available in fucking GameStop.
The creator wanted it to have sequels in the Bronx and eventually different countries around the world. Under better circumstances, PlayStation might have found their Earthbound or Animal Crossing in this beautiful game. But all that's left now is a missed opportunity and a company that can't even tell you if they still own the rights.
I know that last detail because I unsuccessfully tried to place a bid on the trademarks for it and couldn't get straight answers. I'm thinking of either hiring an actual Japanese lawyer or just making a new Chulip and making an offer to whomever sues me.

Silents Hills turns out to be kinda shit, it's all in first person and is more or less a walking sim, Machine for pigs turned out better.
