I used to get it's cry confused with Mantine, and thought it made cute chirpy sounds, like Natu but lower pitched.
It was one of the first pokemon you saw when challenging the Johto elite four, so it had an impression of being powerful. I like Xatu, it's a cool concept, but power creep and its awful 3D model kinda ruined it for me.
I get how the model is supposed to look like the imposing head of a big totem pole from the enemy's perspective, but Xatu was always the bird that stood still because it was viewing the past and future simultaneously, not the floating bird thing.
