I never really understood minecraft

I love to build Houses with Brown Bricks, in Minecrap.

Its literal autism. Virtual legos for children, manchildren, and invalids.

My normal routine when I start a new minecraft world is to make a base in the side of a mountain and then a farm outside of it, then I make a mineshaft to gather resources for tools and then use the stone to make some more impressive build like a wizards tower or a castle. Then I make an exp farm and kill the dragon.

This is usually when I get bored and stop playing for a few months, but on my current world I've just been enjoying building an building non stop, which is a lot more fun with the new villager mechanics since they bring a lot of life to your builds.

Generally I guess my goal in Minecraft is to constantly whittle away at all the challenge in the game, by improving farms and infrastructure.

Try watching some Let's Plays. I reccomend Mumbo Jumbo Hermitcraft, binge season 5, then start new season.

Isn't that the point of almost any survival game?
You star with nothing and you must find and manufacture stuff to increase your chances of survival

Build a house, get better armor and tools, enchant them and eventually kill the ender dragon, and in the middle of all these steps keep improving your house, add farms of animals and crops. And when you're worn out, move on to modpacks, automation and industrialization is really satisfying and you could get a shit ton more hours out of the game from that.
Also multiplayer if you want to hang out with others, PVP or see ripoffs of other games/minigames in minecraft

Extrinsic vs intrinsic motivation. You play it because the building and exploring aspect is fun in of itself instead of having the game tell you what to do next.

There's a difference between making large Redstone contraptions and c playing on minigames servers.

the gameplay is really shallow and not engaging; there's no depth or interesting mechanics
If you didn't enjoy building a nice house then the rest of the game is going to be very boring

get wood
make tools
build a house
get better tools by mining
get things for you house by mining and exploring the overworld and nether
expand your house (crafting ability, food supply, enchanting, brewing potions etc)
adventure to beat the strongholds and obtain magic books, high tier items
go to the end and beat the game

personally, I travel til I find a village, then I remodel it into a useful and aesthetic town
