Celica did nothing wrong.

It focused on believable but likable characters without forcing fan service down your throat. It came from a game from an earlier time where IS wasn't run by retards. It has great combat similar to a jrpg but with tactics. And Berkut youtube.com/watch?v=nQka4wv6BLw

Production values and presentation.

The presentation, art, and music were stellar and while the game retained the basic layout of maps from the original game it also made the unique aspects of Gaiden feel really good such as how magic works and how archers' range works and other things like the charming point and click towns, castles, and other locations, or the dungeons which were a welcome mixup that never outstayed their welcome.

The story progression is unique for the series too with it using long chapters that cover a portion of the world map and tell a complete story instead of having each chapter = a map and at parts has two active factions clearing different maps. The voice acting is also excellent and adds a lot of heart.

It did a lot with what I was used to with FE and freshened it up in many ways without being obtrusive like Fates could be or how Three Houses seems to be shaping up to do.

My favorite part about him is that he has the edge - he was willing to do some real heinous shit and it made the story and himself more compelling
Fuck man Berkut blows every Awakening/Fates character by the water. Here's hoping Three Houses gets the same level of greatness that this man provided.

it was shit tho. the worst FE game.

if someone makes a serious fe thread let me know

ikr, He actually had depth, he had a character to bounce off of in his gf

Yeah now I'm curious to see how different the combat is from the original as the FE remakes have for the most part been faithful in that regard.

The characters are also really charming too. Most of the cast feels like they have a voice.

They did a great job characterizing everyone - motives and personality is present, interesting relationship dynamics, I can't really call any character a stinker.
>Most of the cast feels like they have a voice.
That's because they did. After I got used to the jarring english dub (as dubs always are) it grew on me and it really added a lot to how I saw the characters. I wonder if I'd enjoy the fateswakening characters more if they got that treatment too

From what I understand it was like this is the original, though Echoes re-balances a few things.

Magic is really cool because instead of being limited in what you can do by class or tome, each character who learns magic instead learns spells as they level up at certain points. Some might get a really handy heal spell like Physic, another gets NPC summons, another might get a Teleport spell unique to them, some might get the strongest spells in the game, or the most useful attack, or something that is more useful against certain foes.

Magic also drains HP based on how strong the magic in use is. This is great for two reasons: it balances having all of these spells by making some less viable (for instance Excalibur is the best spell for attacking due to it not killing the user or nearly killing them when you double as opposed to Ragnorok which is the most powerful spell). This also means it's very easy to tran yourself using heal spells since as long as you have two mages with the right moves you can take advantage of that.

Archers now have a range of 1-5 which feels awesome. Their accuracy is lower, but they feel really useful since they can attack at long distance and from 1 square away.

You also gets skills from wielding certain weapons for long enough which aren't OP but can sometimes help out.

Also there's 3 (4 if you count villager) tiers of classes along with a DLC 5th class. I always appreciate when there's more than 2.

I wanna bury my face in Celica's big hairy bush.

I wonder what maps they would make if this was done in the modern era, where they have no constraints about memory. I think there's something to be said about them never reintroducing 1-5 range spells/bows as it forces the map to be larger so players can properly bait. Better to just stick with the ballista if map makers want to implement a long range threat

Magic has a normal range outside of the usual support spells like Physic. It's only bows that go that far.

It's hard to say, but it'd probably be at least somewhat better even if it's still simple like Awakening's maps.

She's kind of a sap in the late game, but I still like her.

>shit emblem
>good

The artist is what did it to me user. Hidori is an amazing artist and made FEsov an absolutely unique Fire Emblem experience. I hope he comes back.

Magic was really hard to deal with in this game because lolresgrowth but it's satisfying to use them, and you can use them as much as you want because there's no weapon use.
The equipment style was fantastic. Limits forces you to make decisions and making a trading line to get the ridersbane to your paladin is fun.
Fuck the summons though, just draws out maps an extra 5-10 turns dealing with them, or using retreat scam to throw peg knights at them.
I like how promoting classes late gives you extra spells which gave you another good reason to stay unpromoted
Mire/Death get 1-3 and since you can't cast a counter (you always default to the 1-2 Fire) you are forced to tank or go all out. Can't play cautious, which is how you want to when permadeath exists.

I'm so fucking angry they didn't get him again for 3H. He's the best artist to ever grace this series

Res Growth was lol

I heard a lot of complaints about summoner enemies, but I honestly was never troubled by them. They could be annoying, but whenever they were used it usually didn't feel unfair.

I forgot about the 3 range attacks, it's been a while.

You mentioning Pegasus Knights reminds me how I like them more because they can gain a skill that resists archers, which makes them feel more useful as well.

what are the chances for tellius remakes?

the music was stellar in this game!

youtube.com/watch?v=5xx0o7Bcol4

was it good? I wouldn't know because literally nobody has ever talked about it and I didn't bother to play it

This is what putting me off so much in Tree Houses. The shitty graphics I can handle (i mean which FE had amazing graphics right?), but the character all look like they come from some amateur VN in comparison to SOV, hell even comparing to fates and awakening.

>tfw always wanted to play SoV.
>tfw hate the guys at 8-4 with a passion.

Are these guys that main translators or did they take an assistance role? I know they were kinda under heavy influence with Squares localization team with Nier Automata, so I hope it's the same here.

worst FE not including the game its a remake of

Probably both artists were busy?

Sure, there was a lot of ways to deal with the summons itself but only my mages and archers managed to actually ORKO them so I had to pray on Expel luck, or my own summons to bait the AI and dealing with Allys taking the spaces I want fucking sucked
Peg Knights can be fun, good movement and I got blessed with a good Clair and Faye so they could mow down any stray units
This. Teared up a few times. That opera singer in the Rudolph fight gets to your soul
It's definitely worth a playthrough man. It's the series' dark horse so expect to figure out the new mechanics and how to master the gameplay
Not sure, but I'll find out. Won't lie a few characters will probably rustle your jimmies if that's your stance but the english dub will make it feel "right". Saw some fan tl's of a few scenes and it's pretty much the same as what's presented in the game.

>memory constraints
That's bullshit, the game before had actual good and complete maps on the same console

Great presentation and soul, but I admit the gameplay is so-so.
Story while not brilliant isn't as retarded as fates.
Has some brutal post-game if you're into it.
They also went all-in with the dlc unfortunately, and have the final classes locked behind paid dlc.

FEH gets the artists and the better cgi studio. IS knows where the money is at.

Gaiden's maps are larger, and more in quantity because of dungeons

>They also went all-in with the dlc unfortunately, and have the final classes locked behind paid dlc.
Was interested until this part. I'm out

Can you p,lay echoes on citra?

Attached: Celica_Cipher_Artwork.jpg (1508x2048, 1.37M)

Assuming that was the case, how hard is it to find a decent artist in Japan? The whole game feels like a really low effort cash-in. It looks like an even lower effort than GF with the new pokemon game.

Don't be a faggot you'll never even reach the Max level required for them in a playthrough. Unless you grind, but you would grind, because you're a faggot.

iirc it's unoptimized

The game is playable without it, it only really impacts the post-game.

Where to find high res Cipher artwork?

I just hope Three houses maps, gamplay, story can make up for it having the worst designed characters out of the whole series.

I want to know what were they thinking choosing an Otome game artist.

The artist that did those otome games was also the artist for samurai flamenco. Though in this work she's doing a terrible job!

They obviously want the otome audience, and we'll see if it pays off or not.
If it sells well it will mean a grim future for the series, and unfortunately I think it will.

waiting for wednesday feels like forever

They always made shitty choices based on recommendations by the staff. That's how the got the script outline writer for Fates

I felt the same feeling prior to Xenoblade 2, and I got over it. Fortunately, this artstyle isn't as sever.

saitom's work is infinitely better then the 3h shit

People need to realize that Intelligent Systems is NOT a good developer. They are the level of GameFreak in terms of competence.

Pretty anime characters got them where they are now with a 20 year old formula.

like all FEs it was a mix of good and bad. It really dragged hard in chapter 4 to the point where I had to take a break from it.

0% until they make the Binding Blade and maybe Jugdral ones

I feel you on that, but some of the best maps are in Act 4

They're special bonus classes and nothing more. Tier 3 classes are plenty strong.

We'll see when it comes out, but so far everything I've only been seeing red flags. Xeno 2 at least has decent gameplay, this FE for all we know might not even salvageable in that matter.

People are deluded about echoes having great characters by the voice acting
They're almost all as barebone as their original selves and the stupid support system accentuates that because, not only are there less supports than the GBA games, but they all have the same stupid scenario of being a discussion on the battlefield which hinders their potential to learn more about them. examples are Tobin and that one white-haired villager, it's only about one being annoyed to talk during a battle or Luthier and his sister where the shitty kid is just being rebellious, there isn't a fucking Alm/Celica support for fuck's sake. The only characters that are somewhat interesting are the ones added in the remake (not all of them though, Celica's brother especially) which shows how that this remake could have been good if only they put some fucking effort to adapt it to modern standards in terms of writing and especially gameplay mechanics and the fucking maps

Post designs from Three Houses that you think are good.

I do like Mercedes and that white haired girls design.

The Voice Acting was good.

I didn't like it though. Apparently I made a mistake by picking hard mode though, I guess that's just "need to grind" mode.

The fact that it sticks to its sacred cows makes me hopeful about remakes of other older FE games, but the sacred cows of gaiden in particular are, in my opinion, bad ones.
> No weapon durability, super stripped down inventory.
> Grinding instead of a linear path story.
> No side objectives / treasure chests / villages.

The one thing it did that I'd like to see more is enemy leaders actually charging you down instead of sitting on the throne. Enemies that charge + enemies that retreat to healers is a much more dynamic play environment than the usual FE enemies that just sit around waiting to be pulled.

The support conversations added with the base conversations flesh them out to a considerable state. I'd say with this in mind each character has as much depth as a GBA character and at the very least they don't rely solely on a specific trait like so many shitswakening characters do.
I'm glad they take place on the battlefield because I don't need to read about Tobin trying to satiate his sugar addiction by looking for bees and roping Grey up in that process.

Sounds like you just want another FE game.
>No weapon durability, super stripped down inventory.
Addressed in the thread already. It has it's merits.
>Grinding instead of a linear path story.
If you know what to do you can get by without doing so. There's enough chances to gain XP and the real limiting factor is the currency anyways. Also, fountains exist that can fix bad level ups.
>No side objectives / treasure chests / villages.
All contained in places outside of the maps. The games actually trying to be an RPG.
>enemy leaders actually charging you down
Yeah I'd like to see more cases of groups of units trying to run you down mixed with the usual FE fare
