Anyone here speedrun anything? My main one was DKC1 but I've also dabbled in Hollow Knight any% NMG, Sunshine any%, SA2B Hero Story, and SM64 16 Star

Even ignoring the cancer, why would you want to speedrun?
>playing the same game over and over to shave seconds off your time
I'm diagnosed with Asperger's and even I'm not that autistic

For fun. Gives meaning and a real goal to replaying a game you like but otherwise would have no reason to keep playing.

I have a sub-optimal run for a Touhou fangame no one's ever heard of. I'm too lazy to refine it

why not play a different game

most games are shit, better to try and master a game you like than spend money on something worse

Based

Cringe

sounds retarded

If you're autistic sure, but most people want to try new things out

I always wanted to try a true ending run of Legend of Grimrock II - great game and nobody's uploaded a run of it yet so I'd get to route it myself without pressure, sounded like a fun timekiller.

I occasionally try to do things fast but I've never actually speedran anything
I got top 5 world on one of the SEUM levels

it felt weird how little tech the full SEUM run I saw at GDQ did compared to single levels

I think a lot of people in the speedrunning scene don't necessarily enjoy speedrunning itself but moreso the search for new optimizations

I used to speedrun Mario Kart Wii, got into 2% of top times then stopped.

Thinking about running some gba FE games, the rng manip strata seem cool

I had some fun with speedrunning darksouls but never did it too seriously. But it was fun learning some of the skips like the duke's archives one and glitches like moveswapping and using them in regular runs later on.

Oh yeah, I did a bit of that. I think I wanted to do all bosses eventually but it got too time consuming. I know the game and main bosses pretty well now though.

It's not real running because i keep the game paused for like 15 minutes at a time, but i do runs of Majora's Mask where i start on a save right after the required save, and try to beat all 4 dungeons in the fastest time possible according to the ingame clock.
I can't remember the last time i picked up Epona

What the fuck happened to NASA? No one (including me) seemed to care.

i speedrun oot hundo it's really fun

It's a great speedrunning game because speedrunning it isn't actually that different from regular gameplay once you are a bit more experienced. Also, there are a ton of different routes that aren't that much slower than the best one which makes it interesting.

what's your dampe record?
what's your PB?

Was thinking i should pick up Tomba. Loved the game as a kid and i am pretty decent in it. There are some runs made but they are old and i dont think they are too optimized so there would be a chance to be decent in it

I can get the bad ending of Symphony of the Night in about half an hour. I pretty much just know the one trick to skip Death at the start, but have no idea what the rest of the route is supposed to be.
