Sekiro keeps a list of all the enemies you killed and where they died and then spawns them when you get close to them. So you'll see them spawn in dead/ragdoll mode and fall to the ground as you approach. looks bad man.

Resident Evil 2 Remake was amazing in that aspect - it remembered corpse placement and blood splats and dismembered limbs. You'd come back to exactly how you left them and remember how it all happened.

It depends on the game. In the case of Fallout 4, where you're supposed to be going back to the same cells dozens of times to be fed more content, it's annoying. But that's down to the game's core loop being shit frankly. By contrast in Deus Ex which I've been replaying at the moment, it would be incredibly jarring if say, corpses were cleaned up every time I triggered a map transition.

I can frankly do without visual clutter and it also eats away at limited resources, there is no real reason for game enemies to stay in game and plenty of reasons why they should be erased.

It was fucking radical, I wish more games did that. Especially cool since you could see which parts of the map were more trafficked and more dangerous from the concentration of blood and hit marks.
Also on UT99, the Infiltration mod (realistic military combat) had a setting to retain fucking EVERYTHING: corpses, decals, even stuff like bullet casings and grenade spoons/pins. You could tell where fights had been from the casings lying around. And it being such an old game at that point, it didn't really impact performance.
It's a shame that as systems have become more powerful games have focused on the same numbers of physical items but prettier, rather than scaling up on sheer volume or complexity of stuff.
