World of Warcraft Classic

Will WoW classic return MMORPGs to their glory?

It is dominating Twitch in its Beta. The final release will bring generations of Zoomers into a game that requires skill and social interaction.

I stopped playing WoW after the first few expansions, because the fun came from forming your own groups and raiding dungeons. Are you ready to return to WoW in its prime, Yea Forums?

>that requires skill
LMAO
The only skill you need is patience and the ability to heard 40 cats.

I wish I could play as my draenei monk in classic

ability to mindlessly farm mining nodes in the barrens for easy money

What happens when every fucker reaches endgame, plays the shit out of raids, and wants the next expansion?

Will the fuckers who play classic like Battle for Azeroth in 15 years?

It will be popular for 6months to 1 year. Then what? Outland... Burning Crusade?

Is this a reboot of WoW? Will they create a branch with a different story?

Where is WoW Classic in 3 months, 6months, 12 months? 2 years?

Compared to modern WoW, classic WoW did require skill. You couldn't pull 5 mobs at once with low-level gear like you can now, and many quests encouraged joining groups in order to defeat all the mobs.

>Will WoW classic return MMORPGs to their glory?
How is rereleasing an old game supposed to do that? Everyone knows that vanilla WoW was lightning in a bottle. That’s why so many companies invested hundreds of millions of dollars into trying to copy it, failing so badly many of them went bankrupt. I’m sure the renewed interest will lead more retards into total financial ruin because they either don’t remember or weren’t around the gaming scene when multiple MMOs came out every year only to crash and burn ad infinitum.

streamers and normalfags already ruined it
i miss private servers unironically

If they are smart they will create expansions that build on the principles that made Classic popular. They have confirmed that they will slowly release new content.

How in the world is that skillful or difficult? As compared to dealing with Mechanics like in fucking Mythic Kil'Jaedan or some shit

Modern WOW is a lot more mechanically demanding in PVE. Raids are a lot more complex now than they ever were in classic. The difficulty didn’t come from the content for the most part, it came from obnoxious grinds, random barriers like attunements, annoying gold sinks like flasks for raiding and repair bills, and most importantly trying to wrangle 39 other autistic people for hours at a time.

>ability to mindlessly farm mining nodes in the barrens for easy money
But even that was fun, because a real person bought the shit you wound up selling in the auction.

I made genuine friends from my guild who flew across the country to meet me from WoW. Can't think of any other game that does that.

Sounds like these niggas are implementing a soft reboot, a branch in the franchise. They pussied out on pushing WoW 2.

Blizzard is going through some turbulence. They may not go through with the branch. They may shut the servers down in a year and announce WoW 2... one that will plays like WoW Classic but have better graphics.

Social skills are still a skill, one that's sorely lacking in modern MMO players.

never said it wasn't fun
>I still do it on private servers

lol at 3rd worlders begging for mount money

blizz will cash hard on the zoomers streamers bring
they aren't even testing shit
and they are still giving away "beta" access to those who didn't even play it and don't plan on playing it on launch .

Shill thread.

Hide it.
Sage it.
Do not reply to it.

Indeed, and most raids required you to talk on Ventrillo. It probably helped countless autists overcome their social anxiety. It did for me.

>mmorpg
>skill
pick one.

Kek. Skill refers to social skill. How will are you able to tam up? How well are you able to coordinate massive team battles for your guild?

WoW Classic was all about social skill. Something many on Yea Forums lack.

It all depends on how much money it makes.

>that requires skill
16hz servers

Never got around to playing Alliance in Vanilla.
How do you play a Human Warrior and not want to kill yourself during leveling?

Won't make enough. That's for sure. Activision-Blizzard.

Blizzard is bleeding money and is not the Blizzard of 15 years ago. Blizzard is appeasing their fanbase and trying to re-engage for brand loyalists.

By leveling with another person.

In that case should you spec prot from the get go?

>be catababy
>wow classic gets announced
>think that's cool, will probably play it, never got to see the vanilla zones anyway
>start lookign into it
>end up watchign a bunch of streamer shit videos of them talking about it
>end up watching dozens of videos of people talking about just how much BETTER classic is
>fucking social contracts, tighter community, everything you do is impactful and the rewards are worthwhile
>mfw I went from mildly interested to re-thinking my whole life choices

>Will WoW classic return MMORPGs to their glory?

no and blizzard already knows this now, they didn't when they chose to endeavor in this and they even said whether this was the right thing to do or not. wow classic is nothing more than trying to cater to cheap fuckers who couldn't be bothered to pony up a stinking $15 a month to play wow so they instead played for free on emulated servers because the emulation for all the new expansions and content were too hard to emulate to such a high extent. they duped blizzard into making this piece of shit and they know it will eventually be a waste of time and resources just like many of their features which were removed like online auction house and all the other gimmicks. instead bfa rots away while they put more time into wow classic. for the most part those who have been playing wow for the past 14 or how many years its been will not waste any serious time with this and to believe that there will somehow be this huge community of only wow classic players is bullshit as well.

What class is best for proteccing my frens; Priest or Warrior?

>getaloadofthisguy

Butt blasted

That made leveling more fun but, it's not really challenging.

As someone who raided Classic and BFA at competitive levels (#1 parses), the challenge BFA offers at max level far surpasses Classic's.

I still prefer Classic, because wrestling with a world is just good fun. But it actually requires less competence than BFA does, honestly. The raid mechanics and PVP stuff is just more challenging in BFA.

>fucking social contracts, tighter community, everything you do is impactful and the rewards are worthwhile
>Do or say one bad thing, blacklisted on server, admit you're under 18 get blacklisted from raiding
>spend 3 months re-leveling character (In the very beginning before there was ANY exp boost and assuming it's not summer vacation or some shit, that's roughly how long it took grinding 2-3 hours a day
That's what it was like on any server that wasn't high-population, though you zoomers will all get high pop sharded servers so you'll never realize how shitty WoW was socially.

That's the truth. Blizzard is banking on all those faggots who played on vanilla servers to magically start paying a monthly fee to play again when the vast majority of wow players who play now do not give a shit about wow classic. They will not play until it becomes free, that's what they were wishing for, go read the emu threads on those forums, they essentially want us to subsidize their welfare classic game.

>admitting to being under 18 in an M rated game
>implying anyone ever got blacklisted from the entire server for saying a single bad thing

Maybe don't be an unlikable cunt to everyone you ever meet and you won't get blacklisted? Just serverhop if it's such a big issue. You know they're going to keep that shit in.

>What happens when every fucker reaches endgame, plays the shit out of raids, and wants the next expansion?

Dude, hardly anyone even got to 60 in classic. I raided until Huhuran in Aq40/Full Spiderwing Aq40 clear and then everyone stopped giving a fuck because bc was on the Horizon.
Classic will last far longer than just 2 years for many people.
I'm more worried that the retail shitter crowd starts howling for their features when classic eclipses retail wow in popularity.

I hope Blizzard learns from Classic as a lesson and just releases wow 2 in the furute and just scraps retail development.
I'd kill for WOW 2:Shadowrun.

well people are complaining about the problems WoW has from the beginning, they wanted old wow back but now they dont like it...

>admitting to being under 18 in an M rated game
Classic wasn't M-rated it was teen, the community was just extremely stuck up and was pretentiously "mature" and even though videogames are made for children they loathed teenagers and kids.

I can't wait for all the Paladins, Shamans, Druids and Priests to hit 60 and realize that there are either 0 or 1 slots (depending on the spec) for them in non-healing roles per 40-man raid

Pro-tip: The actual way to get a raid spot as Ret/Enhance/Boomkin is to be a streamer who gets invited to popularize your guild (and your shit DPS is written off as a loss in exchange for that publicity). Average players are gonna be in for a rude awakening.

You need to look things from their perspective. Imagine that you're retarded. Now. Suddenly MMOs take a lot of skill.

They want OLD wow back but they don't want to pay for it. WoW Classic is a response for having closed down certain private servers that had many players on vanilla servers. Blizzard stupidly believed that these players would pay for the subscription if they brought out an official wow classic server. I doubt even a 3rd of the players found on these emulated private servers will start paying Blizzard now for a classic version of the game.

Sadly true

Pre 1.12 you could make a case for 1 deep ret because of Kings, but since we're usind 1.12 talents, nearly all shamans will be 30/0/21 with one in deep resto for mana tide totem.
All your pallies will be some wonky deep prot/holy mix and maybe one ret for the lolz.
Depending on the number of locks in your raid, one priest with shadow weaving is probably okay.

It will be enough if they have the balls to cut their dead weight.
They already got rid of a few hundred useless parasites.

NO. GOD NO.
Prot spec is the most soul crushing levelling anyone will ever encounter; you’re utterly gimped the second you leave a group, and you’re frankly less useful in the open world even with one.
You can tank anything while levelling in any spec, just so long as you have a shield and armour that remotely level appropriate.
If you’re open world levelling, you don’t even need that unless you’re fighting elites.

>>Do or say one bad thing, blacklisted on server, admit you're under 18 get blacklisted from raiding
Literally the only thing that caused a blacklist was deliberate ninja pulling or looting, and even then people would probably forget after a few weeks. You’d only ever get a permanent blacklist if you were stupid enough to do it repeatedly
I’m not sure if it’s funnier that you’re a zoomer trying to fit in, or a rampant asshole bitter that people eventually told him to fuck off, and too stupid to resist doing it again and again.

Not really, no. Honestly modern WoW raids are a lot more mechanically challenging that Vanilla WoW raids ever were. Vanilla just required more patience and investment.

but there are also tons of burgercucks that never played any pservers, willing to play classic because of the 3rd world paywall filter

Reminder to blacklist anyone on our pure NA servers who calls enhancement 'enchantment' and druids 'dudus'

>Blizzard is appeasing their fanbase and trying to re-engage for brand loyalists.

They should worry about the brand loyalists who have been paying for over 14 years instead of these players who only played on private servers or vanilla and since then never tried anything else. They should have just focused on the game and allowed players to get more of their moneys worth instead of trying to cater to pirates.

The best will be Ret Paladins.

No, classic wow already was a cancerous MMO because this game was build like a solo game since the begining, it was the most easiest and casual MMO at that time. Current retail version is the result of their way of development. You say social interaction like it was something special, other MMO had guild/race wars with an actual benefits from it, an actual political systems and etc, wow could afford only the basic interactions like join a guildm find a party for a quest/dungeon. Sure BFA doesn't have much even in that regard, but classic wow have nothing really special.

>b-but Esfand's guild lets him raid Ret! Here, look at this spreadsheet that shows that I might sometimes be almost worth my slot on half the boss fights if I swing Nightfall! There's this build that works okay on some fights just as soon as I get my full 8/8 Tier 1 set bonus!

Tauren Warrior / Troll Shaman / Undead Rogue, Orc Warlock :: Human Paladin / Gnome Mage / Dwarf Hunter/ Night Elf Druid

Thoughts? Probably going dwarf hunter as my first.

>classic return to mmorpgs
>by playing the game that killed all good mmos and creativity in the genre.
zoomers are funny.

Cannot be worse than me, who is planning on rolling a cow boomkin.

Stay at the back for the aura and dance, laser chicken.

Classic WoW was a kiddy MMO for keyboard-turners, OP. Just ask anyone who played a real game like Everquest.

I wonder why people always put skill and classic together. Classic didn't took any skill. Even brain-dead monkeys could clear the dungeons and raids.

You have to understand we're talking about a bunch of people who praised babbys first mmo that they played at 12 years of age.
