Very few HD/current gen ports actually qualify as remakes. An example of something that does would be Bluepoint's Shadow of the Colossus or FF7R. Everything else is a remaster if it has any new graphical or mechanical features added.

I can see all of this. The one that's most a stretch is actually FF8 with how there have been several stories claiming SE lost all the code, but they've Frankenported FF games before. Also, I heard about Final Fantasy 8 being remastered (from a different person), but that rumor has been going around for YEARS. Ever since they announced FF7 remake there's been a rumor of a FF8 and/or FF9 "remaster". There was even a major "leak" last year that included it, which obviously didn't come true.
IN MY PERSONAL OPINION, I think FF8 Remaster is fake. There's been too much talk of it for far too long with nothing ever being revealed for me to believe that there's anything to it.
