Is the wii U still bad?
It's got like... virtual console though...

Wii U is a great fucking console and it's really underappreciated because people are meme machines that can't do anything other than shitpost.

If its hacked it's basically an upgraded Switch without the portability.
>inb4 Mario Oddysey

It's only good for emulating crap on it. All its best games have been ported. I don't touch mine. I feel like I got ripped off by Nintendo.

You mean games by definition available on other consoles?

why would you rebuy the game sfor 60 dollars when you can get all the best games on wii u for like 10 dollars on ebay

VC on the Wii U is notorious for having very heavy input lag.

as long as it has a custom homebrew

Reason im posting is cause im looking into buying one... sorta skipped that gen

ive never once heard about this in the 5 years of owning my wii u

wii u had the GOAT gameplay enhancer with the gamepad but no one bought it so devs never utilized it. Splatoon 2 is overall a better game but damn do I miss that map

It’s the reason why speed runs of games that use VC are done on a Wii instead of a Wii U.

Between the Wii U and Wii library I don't regret buying it for a second. Honestly, I got more use out of it than I did my PS3.

The main control sucks. I always wanted one and when I finally got it I really hated it as a console. The games are good though, for the most part. But the switch ports are always a huge improvement except for the price.

100% this. Two weeks ago I gave in and bought a new one (previous one got a short circuit, luckily I found this one at a low price) and I had forgotten how fun this thing was. The gamepad is incredibly comfortable, the games it offers are entertaining, I genuinely am enjoying it way more than my Switch.
Also Splatoon 1 > Splatoon 2

has a better version of smash on it except for the roster size too.

the fact that you couldn't turn off the gamepad screen is, ironically, a big turn off for me.

i liked it. playing super mario 3d world with my GF and her friend led to me cheating on her and fucking her friend one time. i couldn't pull off the threesome because it got to awkward after we had sex but man the wii u was awesome

Wii U feels like a games machine. When you pick it up, the thing feels like it was made FOR games, not for multimedia shit. It has a fucking stellar library. It's not huge, but it's all high quality. Even a few multiplats are just more fun on it due to the Gamepad functionality.

I've thought about buying one just to mod it and play backups but that stupid tablet shit is what's holding me back. Is that trash necessary when playing games, like am I forced to use it whenever I want to play a game? Can I just throw it away and just hook up a Wii classic controller to the actual console itself and just play it with no worries?

Only a few games require it, and it's actually much better than you think it is. But yeah, a lot of games allow you to use a classic/pro controller. The Wii U pro controller is the best really.

You don't NEED the gamepad all the time I figure. But it is required for some games like Smm, and I think pikmin 3 requires it aswell...

Do they have CFW without the browser or needing to buy something yet?

To this day I'm really sad I never had the chance to play Mario Maker at its peak

The only good aspect of Wii U is the Virtual Console. In all honesty, Wii U was basically a prototype for Switch. Wii U's main shtick is that you can play when someone else needs the TV, but you still have to be in close proximity to the console for the game pad to work. Switch is pretty much doing what Wii U failed to.

Very nice and good to know.

Once you start using the Gamepad you won't stop using it for games. I have the Wii U Pro controller and Wii classic/pro controller and I don't touch them because I got so used to the Gamepad.

Wii U and Vita did everything right. An RMBK reactor can't explode.

Ehh, I feel more comfortable with a actual game controller in my hand and I'm sure I'll just pick and play games that don't require the gamepad.

pretty sure you need the gamepad to even use wii u. It is my favorite controller ever but I can see how some people wouldn't like it. It's only problem is that it has a shit battery life, so if you plan on using it for more than a few hours at a time then you have to be sitting somewhere where you can have it plugged in

>Is the wii U still bad?
Its failure is exaggerated, Nu-Nintendofags just love to judge products based on how much they sell and not on how much they enjoy the thing.

Yeah... just reading these replys show that some people have had superb times with the thing.

It was the only system I've ever regretted buying.

one of the worst hardware designs
the tablet is expensive, it has a 5mts range, the battery last 2 hrs and it had touch controls no one uses it
>BUT MUH FIRST PARTY
All the consoles that have been sucessfull in history is because they had 1st AND 3rd party support. Not to mention, every decent good exclusive now has been ported to the switch which is vastly superior in every single way.

from what i understand, it's still the only platform where you can buy Ogre Battle 64
it'd almost be worthwhile to me for that alone

>All the consoles that have been sucessfull in history is because they had 1st AND 3rd party support
This depends on how you define success. If by success you mean crushing your opponents then that's true. If by success you just mean financially profitable then it's not true. Nintendo has survived fairly well for three gens now on basically nothing but 1st party support because their 1st party titles almost always sell very well. Their major titles, e.g. Mario, Smash, etc., are some of the highest selling titles for the whole gen.

It's worse now since it's obselete beween Cemu and the Switch.

hack it and it's a great console, with nintendon't you can play GC games. If you didn't own a Nintendo console between 2002/3 and 2017 you can get a $80 Wii U on craigslist and play all of the games.

>cemu
cemu is dogshit outside of botw still sweetie and always will be because there simply aren't that many wii u exclusives that people want to emulate.

it’s a weird weird console. gives me dreamcast vibes

Nah, both TPHD and Sm4sh worked just fine for me.

Smash 4 is not better then Ultimate in any way shape or form

the new switch pad was such a downgrade in terms of functionally from the wii u pad

why the FUCK is the charging port in the bottom now? This means I cant have the pad sitting on the desk while charging

online is way better

In shitimate you can't change characters during rematches or pick your own stage, not to mention you cant fucking play on wifi even if you have god tier net

You cant even tilt the screen with the c stick anymore

Honestly, it was cool until pretty much every game apart from 3d world came to the switch. Since nothing really utilized the tablet/screen gimmick that well, it kind of makes all games completely fine to play on Switch.

>why the FUCK is the charging port in the bottom now?
because it was made with the shitty dock in mind. you can get that official adjustable stand that has the usb port on the sides though

Ultimate's online is, despite various updates and fixes, still worse than Smash 4's, so it has that going for it

More online functionality.
The only thing Smash 4 doesn't have is goofy spirits mode, but even then it's extra mode options are more robust then Ultimate. Lastly better All-Star's and boss rush modes, something Ultimate just fucking -lacks-.
Also the 3ds grand chase is pretty good no lie. Why they didn't even try to add that onto the switch version is beyond me.

It's good for The house of the Dead games.

People who hate the console wants his games on their shitty underpowered portable console

What can it emulate that my new 3ds can’t? I might consider buying one again because I loved the (I think it’s called) pro controller.

GameCube and Wii games.

You can pretty much get the system plus most if not all the games that were ported to the Switch for the price of 2 of Wii U ports on the switch.

Nigga what?
