IIRC months ago he already confirmed that he was working on DLC characters 2 and 3 simultaneously, so it seems likely to me that this part is fake, and that we will get a "just one more thing" moment of some description.

The other statement involves looking forward to the Nintendo Direct to see more characters news. This one is more likely to be true, but could still be false. There could be a Smash character revealed at another conference. And the only one that seems like a possibility here is a Microsoft character, another console manufacturer is the only thing I can imagine that has enough pull to get a Smash reveal on their own turf. Plus fake smash balls explosion are very similar to the Xbox logo.

It could also be him fucking with us and mean absolutely nothing.
