>brother has a really great PC that he spent over $1000 on
>watching him play BotW on CEMU
>the game runs at 60fps but seems to frequently dip frames
>"it's just so the shader cache has to load in this area. it's normal".
Is this really what emulation offers on high tech machines?
Are emulators just a meme?
He's playing an exclusive on the PC.
Yeah, people justify it because they think it's better than the developed curated, original experience on the intended hardware.
aka retardation
give it a few years CEMU will be perfect on PC
>not precompiling the entire game's shaders
Fucking casuals
I can't wait for yuzu
damn bro
your brother should've downloaded the shaders before playing.
>>"it's just so the shader cache has to load in this area. it's normal".
He's a retard, and you're an even bigger retard for posting here.
the new builds of CEMU don't need to do that. they compile the shaders as you play
Your brother is a meme for not setting it up properly.
>switch version runs at 20 and dips frames
>not spending 2k on a pc
>not preloading shaders
fuck your stupid bait, whatever
bruh, shader compilation is a thing in several emulators, rpcs3, dolphin, cemu..
doesn't mean they aren't playable af
youtube.com
What makes emulation great doesn't really have much to do with hardware, it's from the GameCube and back where you can netplay shit you always wanted to play multiplayer but none of your friends ever wanted to play.
he can play PC games and console games, on one device
even better, he's playing an "exclusive"
>Not downloading a shadercache before you start playing.
Your brother is an absolute amateur. There is no reason to dip frames in botw at this point.
why is it so hard to emulate a weak ass console
Emulators are a meme unless a coder does black magic like what happened to PPSSPP, it was running shit one day then after a few days emulation became near-perfect.
>all the people ITT saying to precompile shaders
the setup guides for newer versions of CEMU doesnt even have this as a step and in fact precompiled shaders is set to off as a default for nvidia users. its not how it works anymore. yes, you will experience short frame cuts the FIRST time you experience something but every time after that won't happen.
>play BOTW on CEMU
>frequently dip frames
Sounds like perfect emulation to me.
It's always done that, that's the normal way, but compiling shaders takes time so doing in-game will lead to framedrops and stutters. You can instead download a shader pack, compile it all before playing, and then get a completely smooth experience.
>are emulators just a meme?
Yes. PS2 emulation can't even do audio right.
It's perfect already for the game(s) worth playing.
Imagine being this wrong. Shadercaches and Nvidia precompile isn't the same thing. The best way is to clearly just download a
bro what r u talking about seems to work on my machine?
why does even BSOD gaming recommend to compile your own in-game since 1.15? does he just not know what he's talking about? i use his setup guides for every new version
why isnt he using precompiled cache shaders
i love botw
Old builds do that too, but people already have complete caches ready to go. just download them.
>spending over 1000 dollars on a pc
retard prebuilder spotted
because they quickly become outdated as newer versions of CEMU are released
Emulators are the greatest thing ever and how I have played most of the games I've played throughout my life. Probably like 60% of them
>he spent over $1000 on
On the entire PC? Is that all? No wonder the frames dip. Tell your bro to update his shit.
based fuck prebuilts
OPs brother probably got gimped out of a good CPU and sold trash
>does he just not know what he's talking about
Frequently he doesn't know what he's talking about.
I redid the whole process with newest CEMU 3 days ago. You just need a newer cache from the reddit that was made afterward and the difference is going from constant stuttering or smooth as butter. This is with the setting for precompile set to off by the way (and yes I have an nvidia gpu).
try making an emulator and you will know
>2080ti for emulating
You're a complete fucking idiot
a shitty 750ti can easily run these emulators at 1080p, and something like a 1060 can run them at 4K
It's all CPU bound.
No. You are wrong. A shader cache made when BOTW first released will still work on the latest Cemu.
I've noticed the common thread the people complain about emulating not working.
a) have potatoes for machines
b) never go into settings and try to optimize anything.
kys nvidia shill, nobody is going to buy your shitty re branded 1080 cards
He needs to spend more. I spent over 2k on mine and I ran BotW on my PC like 2 fucking years ago with shaders and shit at over 60 fps.
>gpu matters most for emulating
retard tier, get a good cpu first
Poorfags
That's not how shader caches work. They've been invalidated a grand total of ONCE since BOTW released. They don't get invalidated every time Cemu updates because the "transferable" shaders are the actual shaders from the game, with no changes made yet. The "precompiled" ones are the ones that have been modified to work on PC and need to be invalidated when the emulator updates.
I run the game perfectly 1080p 60fps with a poorly binned 970.
>makes an absolute retard of himself
>y..you're just poor..
get kek'd faggot
>and something like a 1060 can run them at 4K
1060 can run botw at 4k 30fps but if you want 60 it's going to struggle.
yes. To get flawless emulation you need at least a 2000$ machine. There is no snake oil, PCs aren't magic. You pay extraordinarily more for a gaming PC, and at most you get back is higher resolution and framerate, maybe higher graphical settings in some games.
Emulators aren't the meme, PC gaming is, and the only thing of actual worth with PC gaming is Mouse and Keyboard controls and the fact that VR is only really worth it on a good PC.
How do I run this without the fucking black screen flickering? ffs that's the only thing keeping it from being perfect on PC for me. Is it an amd thing?
It stutters a lot when you first start playing, after about half an hour you'll be stutter free for the rest of your playthrough
>close-sourced
This is just cancer.
If you don't download a shadercache this is just not true. It will stutter whenever a new shader is used, and new shaders are used frequently throughout the game, even in the Gannon fight.
That's why you need to download the cache.
Have you tried lately? That was an issue for like 6 months, but it was fixed a couple months ago.
>after about half an hour you'll be stutter free for the rest of your playthrough
This is blatantly false. If you don't have a cache it will stutter every time you go into a new area or encounter a new effect you haven't seen before.
Where do you get the free wifi to post this from, poorfag?
>get this running perfectly
>except for the audio which loops at incorrect intervals
HOW DO I FIX IT
In a lot of cases it is, with higher resolutions and framerates, reduced controller latency and configurable everything. Also you're not stuck on hardware that is inevitably going to crap out and die on you.
My old 3570k + rx580 on linux plays it at locked 30 without any dip. 60fps is an actual meme this time since it cause bugs.
not him but ps3 emulation on 4k require a strong gpu (and ssd)
A lot of people use BOSD's videos for setting up CEMU since they are the most comprehensive. That's what I did, and I didn't download a shader cache, and the game still works really well. As peolpe have said, yes, the game will slow down the first time you do an action (i.e. use a new rune or something), but every time after it will be smooth. It looks pretty great, I don't see problems. How come everything I look up says to NOT downloaded a precompiled shader cache?
>decide to try it out
>download both CEMU and the game
>it doesn't work
>no idea why
>suddenly realize that I've got a Wii U emulator but downloaded the Switch version of the game
I'm a retard.
Where the fuck do I find the Wii U version
>I didn't download a shader cache, and the game still works really well.
just because you have actual brain damage and can't notice the stuttering doesn't mean it isn't there
>encounter a new effect you haven't seen before.
how often does ths appen though
you're a retard for thinking user was serious.
>a couple months ago
Yes, tried it less than a month ago with different builds including the latest at the time, nothing seemed to fix it.
every few minutes for the first ~10 hours of a run
the stuttering only happens the first time it is loading the shaders. i even said so in my post
>I don't see problems
>the game will slow down the first time you do an action (i.e. use a new rune or something)
You got brain problems.
>the stuttering only happens the first time it is loading the shaders
which is often. it objectively makes the game a worse experience.
you have a choice between stutters and no stutters, you chose stutters. you're a retard.
That's its whole own process, but you basically have access to the entire Wii U library once you set it up. No spoonfeeding though, look it up yourself.
AAAAAAAHHHHH WHY IS PROGRESS ON CITRA SO SLOW?
Well it seems fine on nvidia gpus at least, so maybe it's still not fixed on amd.
>the PC is good because it coast 1000$
devs abandoned it because switch emulation makes them more money
welcome to the future of patreon-driven development.
very few, minor stutters that only happen once
You will have stuttering even in the Ganon fight if you don't have a cache. It's just a fact.
Everyone moved on to yuzu
At least Citra is open-source, but fucking hell.
Why start a project if you're going to abandon it before it even took off?
maybe i do have brain problems but im confused why the pre-eminent CEMU expert on youtube doesnt even recommend downloading a shader cache anymore when he once did. why?
Because unlike the switch everyone own a 3ds.
Yeah I'm sure a dozen software engineers making 6 figures are only doing it for that $1200/month split between them, and not because the switch is newer and more exciting..
Emulators take time, usually years. But
>1000 bucks PC
>Sure this make it a good one!!!
You're not better than actual boomers who describe their PC with the brand and color
YUZU TOO SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
CAN'T PLAY MARIOOOO
Vita3K being good when
He has made literally the same video dozens of times already, after every single release. He probably forgot.
Because he's a retard, as you can see.
does anyone here run this game with an amd cpu?
It's just something he forgot in his most recent setup video. The cache is highly recommended.
i own both a switch and PC. its honestly amazing how much better BotW looks and runs on PC
Are you fucking retarded? get a shader cache as fast as possible
you can load the complete shader cache before playing the game so this doesnt happen, it just takes some time to load
can someone tell me why CEMU shots seem to have richer color palettes than BotW on Wii U.
They've got a few commercial games booting recently. It's not much, but at least there's progress.
your brother is dumb and didn't download the shader cache. you don't need to deal with any of that bullshit.
also the quality of emulators vary. some are fantastic (sameboy) others are garbage (desmume). for the most part Cemu is pretty good ... at emulating BOTW, but it still is lacking in a lot of areas
pc gaming in general is
Ryzen 5 2600 fag here. Runs well and looks great.
Anybody emulating breath of the wild know if there is a fix for the NPC and foliage/tree pop-in? LoD settings don't seem to affect it.
Emulation for newer systems is fucking shit. It's one big circle jerk of a meme. PS1 emulation us great, but anything up from that is a hilariously bad no go.
They'll try to convince you otherwise. "System not powerful enough" eventhough your new i7 and 1080 shits all over whatever crapbox they are running. "Well obviously you are stupid" despite the example video they posted being even more fucked up. Its become a cult based on self-deception than anything gaming related.
I dont know why these people wont just pay $100 (PS2 console + hard drive) and drop their isos on the actual fucking system. I ended up doing that and now I play more games than ever.
mods + better resolution
Also the wii u is limited rgb and can look washed out if the TV is not properly set.
You haven't even tried cemu. It's obvious.
thanks. i have a 1600 and wanted to try it sometime
Never ever
>playing botw
lol
?
Gamecube and Wii emulation is all but perfect
>curated sub 30 fps lock
>variable 60 fps that dips only once before the shaders are loaded
based retard
You mean dips never because you got a shadercache.
new dungeons when
When programs do things on a processor, they communicate in a very specific language for that processor. These are called instruction sets; sets of instructions the processor can perform. An ARM processor (the ones found in phones and the Switch) has a family of ARM instruction sets while an x86 processor (the ones found in a desktop or most laptops) has a family of x86 instruction sets.
Translating between one and the other can be a severe pain. Even simple operations can differ in extremely critical ways which requires a lot of additional instructions to properly perform what was only one instruction on the intended machine. If on average you need 4 more instructions to do that, then your emulation machine will need to be 5 times faster to maintain similar speeds.
Although I like playing at 60 fps due to how smooth it is, I play at 30 instead because 60 has some glitches with physics and other things.
this but apparently OP's brother is apparently as retarded as OP himself
it's fun__ And the closest thing to Dragon's Dogma 2 I will ever get.
No I do not believe DD2 is real and DDO can suck my dick
DDO is actually pretty good, but, yeah Western release never and DD2 would obviously be preferred.
Nvidia gpu or and GPU?
GTX 1070
>DDO is actually pretty good
No, user. Even setting all the hoops to play and fucking terrible latency aside, I just can't fucking stand the
>beat up the monster until his stamina goes down and then you can deal actual damage
That's just so fucking gay I can't stand it. And what hurts the most is that they fixed the Warrior, gave the Fighter some of the Assassin skills and tweaked the Hunter to be an amazingly fun class to play. What hurts the MOST is that DDO is not complete trash.
only a summerfag wouldn't know how emulation works
woah..
>console version runs at 25 fps with dips
yes, emulators are just a meme OP
both company run fine on a non-botnet OS
Yeah it has some gay MMO shit attached to it, but it's still the same gameplay (mostly) that I liked about the original and the class improvements are great.
I just hope with DMC5 over some love comes to DD now and we get the sequel that it sorely needs.
>can play BOTW as Linkle
It's better
>those clay mountains
damn...
I have a poorly binned 970 and it still runs great. I have a 9700k though, which is more of a bottleneck.
I hate people with this mentality, price doesnt mean shit only the spec do
tranny
The only good thing about this is the custom armor. We need custom armor for Link too.
Yeah it looks terrible. The terrain doesn't even handle clipping holes or overhangs.
Who else here raids Hyrule Castle the second they got off the plateau?
why does link look blurry
Do you mean the anti-aliasing?
so it runs better than it does on switch
rent free
what do you mean. are you telling me he looks ever blurrier on console
yeah and better hardware costs more money
fucking kek. you made me spit out my drink.
Why is this reddit thread even here?
BOTW uses garbage anti-aliasing by default. You can use Nvidia's alternative implementation which still sucks, or just turn it off and downsample from a higher resolution.
anyone have the 100% complete save file?
Some other big titles are pretty solid. 3D World ran pretty well with only one or two kinda iffy emulation glitches.
3D World on Parsec makes for a good time.
U cant even properly emulate ps2 games with modern hardware
Why should you be able to emulate ps3 and wii games?
NINTENDO HIRE THIS MAN!
You can drop a boatload of money on a high-end GPU+ monitor and still have your PC be bottlenecked because of a shit CPU, or bad RAM.
Most run fine for me. Shows you haven't actually tried.
Wii and PS3 emulators have better developers than rpcsx2 you tard. PS3 unironically runs better than PS2 and Dolphin is one of the best emulators ever.
Good ram isn't very important. Literally like 1fps difference.
So what's everyone setting on botw? I still can't maintain 60fps on botw.
Depends on your CPU. Ryzen's like fast RAM.
t. actual retard
shit ram = stuttering
If you think cycle accurate emulators that were meant solely for the purpose of preservation of said hardware/software is just a meme, then you're truly a fucking idiot.
Where do you guys find WiiU ISOs?
Wii U USB Helper
youtube.com
look up bsod's set up guides and you'll get 60fps
Actually it has nothing to do with better developers, it has more so to do with the lack of documentation on some of the Playstation 2's custom chips, same thing with Sega Saturn and why it's been so difficult to emulate it completely.
I tried the guide, but it still won't work. Should I low down the resolution?
>sunset
>terrain is pitch black, looks like midnight
why do graphic pack fags do this to themselves
Over $1,000 isn't a really great PC. Maybe average.
Nah, it's all about devs. PCSX2 had some great devs at the start, but they all left nearly a decade ago. Now the project is basically one guy, who took nearly five years just to make an opengl port.
>same thing with Sega Saturn and why it's been so difficult to emulate it completely.
Except mednafen came along and made a bitchin emulator in less than a year completely by himself. Also the sole person who made a PS1 emulator that plays over 99.9% of games perfectly.
>it has more so to do with the lack of documentation on some of the Playstation 2's custom chips
and also the fact that even the parts that are documented are hard to emulate on modern hardware due to how unique they are
which is why so many of the ps2 gpu's effects are properly rendered in software mode but broken in hardware mode
Can my rig run cemu?
At 10 fps if you're lucky.
>AMD FX
You poor man.
No, it runs at 30 with rare dips. And it works upon simply putting the game in the device and turning it on. And for less than $1000.
>"Except mednafen came along and made a bitchin emulator in less than a year completely by himself"
Wrong, in fact SSF is still more accurate then Mednefen or Yabause at this current state, in fact SSF's developer pretty much has it stated on his page that he has pretty much 90-95% of the saturns hardware properly emulated.
>download shader cache
wow, that was soooo difficult, better go play on my Wii U that I own the game on instead of using my dirty and MORALLY QUESTIONABLE emulators, right???
how often do you experience slowdowns? did you download a shader cache
Fuck! Any suggestions? Besides starting over
overclock the fucker to 4.2GHZ and hope for the best.
lol poorfag that can’t afford to build a high performance pc
are you dumb? I spend 2 grand on one I built.
i just downloaded a shader cache that has 11k shaders compared to my previous 6k version. im good to go now?
Pretty much, honestly it would be better off for the developers of PCSX2 to completely rewrite the GSdx plugin from scratch, it would be hard since most of the code was lost years ago, but it sadly needs to be done.
yeah.
Not much of a suggestion....
>tfw ryzen 2700x with r9 390
>couldnt even hold stable 30fps
granted, last time i tried was a whole year ago and i think i was doing something incredibly wrong with setting up cemu
>it would be hard since most of the code was lost years ago, but it sadly needs to be done.
Wat. it's open source, always has been, nothings been lost.
ok thats good thanks. admittedly im ignorant to this whole thing and just followed bsod tutorial video and just left it at that.
A gaming PC is meant for playing PC games, not emulating other consoles' games. The latter is an added bonus and it might or might not work well'. If you wanna build a PC to exclusively play PS3 or WiiU games you're retarded, but if you wanna play some games via emulators in addition to PC games then that's fine. I have a $400 PC (current second hand worth) and I play P5 and BoTW just fine. Not 60fps, but it's not like they're 60 on console either.
over $1000 is a low end computer these days retard
$2500 is the bare minimum for mid range
I tried the Switch version and I honestly don't know how people got through the game. I have 20 hours on CEMU and I never would have bothered with it for that long if it was Switch only. I probably would have waited for a next gen remaster.
>970 and 9700k
Why is it that retards always fail to upgrade their PC the right way? It's either some retard running a 1080 ti on a 2nd gen i7 or another trad trying to pair a 20 y/o GPU with a recent k version i7.
At least upgrade the GPU with the CPU, nothing the current i7 can do will benefit the 970, a 970 will run perfectly with a somewhat recent i5 or older i7 with no bottlenecks.
I've been able to do anything I tried with mine and it was barely $1000.
>ps3 amulation runs better than dolphin
t. never actually played any emulators
No.
Get a cheap Ryzen 1700, they sell for around $150 on amazon now. You could get a Zen 2 Ryzen 3xxx, but I don't think it's worth it considering the 1700 is cheap now alongside other components. And it's still great for everything.
Cool bait user
thats because you do 1080x60 which islow end
2560x120 is mid
4kx144 is high end
Imagine buying a new pc every time you want to play a game
Perfect! I'll do that. Will upgrading memory also help?
I really don't see how anyone could tell the difference between 1080/4k and 60+ framerates so what's the point?
You need to. Ryzen uses DDR4. You should get 3000Mhz/3200Mhz for it.
8gb good enough?
You need DDR4 for Ryzen anyway, the higher clocked the better.
Oh also, prices for the 1700 can vary sadly. I know I mentioned $, but on sites like amazon.com it's still like $250, while in Europe you can get one for 150 Euro or 140 pounds. If you're in the US or somewhere where the 1700 isn't cheap, wait for Zen 2 to drop in July and get one of those.
No, never get 8GB for a new machine in 2019. Ram prices have come down a lot and you can now find 16GB kits for like 70-80 bucks.
Would that let me also play games like re2 1080p @60fps with Claire mods on?
OH perfect! I'll do that, along with the zen 2 in the summer
It's enough but I think 16gb is the sweet spot these days. Ram is getting pretty cheap now but I think they're supposed to rise after the tariffs. If you buy 8gb now I'd buy the extra stick before next year.
1700 is cheap here too. It was $130 just a month ago. You just have to check for deals.
Emulation is nice and all, but it'll never be as good as real hardware to me.
How accurate is Cemu in emulating BOTW? I like 60fps but don't want any missing visual effects or glitches like in PS2 emulation.
Why are you posting incorrect and outdated leaks?
Lol I played on my 4460 just fine, yeah a 1700 will do. For RE2 you want a decent GPU anyway, aim for an RX 580 or something slightly better for 1080p60. As for RE2 specifically you can get away with far less, but a 580 is recommended for general 1080p gaming.
That's good then, a 1700 is a great deal and it only really loses to Intel when it comes to single core performance. It basically means you won't get super max fps, but if you're after 1080p60 that doesn't matter, you'll easily get 60fps in all current games at high settings with a midrange GPU like the 580 or 1060.
It's literally perfect, why haven't you tried it before posting?
A 1700 or a zen 2?
Literally the final word, and fpbp
you are stupid
A Ryzen 7 1700, which is first gen. You could always go with Zen 2 Ryzen 3xxx (naming schemes are confusing), but a 1700 is still great for $130.
amd cards run like shit on cemu because they don't have good opengl drivers. Luckily they're working on implementing vulkin which will fix it.
Because I'm on a toaster for the moment, and I want to save bandwidth.
When I played it on cemu about half a year ago I only noticed a very few small problems here and there. There should be nothing major enough for you to worry about.
What? Psx2 is literally perfect in every game I've tried. Most of them didn't even need a special config.
>>"it's just so the shader cache has to load in this area. it's normal"
your brother is a retard.
you can download the complete shader cache file on internet, and it will prevent those dips on framerate, instead of generating them every time.
It's better in the long run to just compile your own shaders. Downloaded shader packs can often cause problems with the emulator.
I've never seen an issue
>It's better in the long run to just compile your own shaders.
No it's not.
>Downloaded shader packs can often cause problems with the emulator.
No they don't. Shader packs are shader bytecode dumped straight from the game, whether from the internet or made yourself, they'll 100% identical.
Depends on the system
It says my max memory for my motherboard is ddr3... Do I need another motherboard too??
Whenever I copy and pasted my shader packs between updates the game would always crash at the title screen, even with the shader packs from the internet. If you don't run into this problem then good for you.
You haven't tried very many games then.
Ryzen uses a completely new socket. You're buying a whole new PC bud. Your computer is almost a decade old at this point.
I get 35-39fps during open world
nah AMD gpus don't mess with cemu too well, until they IMPLEMENT VULKAN
How does it compare to my imac?
Remember when that CEMU dev was getting $20k a month?
>implying everyone can afford to upgrade everything all at once
Sounds like you get daddy to buy you a brand new pc every two years
Emulators are fine, but they always end up with little technical hitches that get under my skin far more than any issues on real hardware.
That's not what they're saying. They updated the wrong shit is the problem.
yet when the companies themselves offer a port with improved resolution you niggers complain it's not blurry enough like in the good old CRT days
Does CEMU still have problems with Fatal Frame 5?
Literally the only game in the system I'd consider playing.
Rude
beats paying $300+ for a gimped handheld/console abomination
not that user but you're just a faggot
its sunrise in the very early hours. looks way better than vanilla btw
The PSP was easy mode for emulation. The hardware and firmware were both thoroughly documented and almost no games use obscure hardware tricks.
>justifying handheld shit
woah...
I could explain it to you but you probably wouldn't get it.
Using the triple core recompiler and a downloaded shader cache I get 1440 60 solid on a [email protected] and a gtx 1080.
It was an almost flawless experience, just configure the emulator with a bit of trial and error.
8gb would be okay for MOST things. 12gb is more than okay, but if you want to be future proof you need 16.
