Q2 is more about how important it is to be and express your own self and not to repress yourself for someone else's sake. It's close to 5.

There's no way it could have even attempted to combine the themes of 3, 4, and 5 like Q combined 3 and 4.

Rebel against those who are corrupt. Don't expect others to stand up for you. Despite this they never actually do it and only through magical means so the baddie can confess themselves so the entire point is contradicted in a sense.

It's nowhere near as strong as 3 or 4, and even Q2 is even better than it when it comes to having a theme. I may even say Q2 is a better game but P5's Kamoshida arc is too strong.

Opening appears after you get to the cinema IIRC and then it plays when you boot up the game after, I was a little jarred too

I'm in the middle of the fourth dungeon but I like Hikari a lot, way better than Rei even if Rei's backstory is more interesting.

Probably because Hikari shuts the fuck up and Rei can't stop making the same food jokes or crying about how scared she is in labyrinth 3

P5's villains are blatantly evil, but what if it's not so clear? Who gets to say who's corrupt?

Rei's felt like they were playing up her tragedy too much by making it really extreme. Hikari's way more grounded and relatable in both her personality and her backstory.

That's one of the problems in P5's narrative, that's never explored. It also makes who's corrupt or not blatantly clear with the fact that only corrupt people have palaces.

Ken even calls them out directly on this in a PQ2 sidequest and they're like "uhh they show up in our navigator app" which made me laugh

And then the only possibly grounded antagonist: Akechi, turns out to be a psychopath.
But hey, the only ones at fault here are the people who trust Atlus' writing skills.

On the other hand, Kamoshida is so grounded he's one of the best if not the best human villains Persona has ever had. Shame P5 blew its load on the opening act.

feels like something they never got to properly flesh out because the development ended up rushed, since Kasumi seems to be challenging the Phantom Thieves maybe Royal will actually expand on that. It's not as if they don't bring this up in the original at multiple points, it just never gets any meaningful payoff because everyone they face is so irredeemably evil.

I wouldn't put my hopes up. She'll have some qualms of the PTs actions, she'll be shanghai'd into a Palace somehow, awaken to a persona to help out, and by the end of the dungeon be completely fine with them.

Dragon Cry is really a surprisingly huge buff.
