Why does Sony hate Ape Escape?
Why does Sony hate Ape Escape?
because a problematic bunch from Yea Forums keeps asking about it and they don't want to associate with them
*sucks shota penis*
Who would want to play crummy ape escape when there is a pail of water to fetch?
It's from the Japanese branch, they don't like admitting they're a Japanese company anymore.
Because 3D platformers other than Mario are completely irrelevant and have been since the early 2000s.
Nobody would even care about or remember Ape Escape if it weren't for Soichi Terada or Sayaka/Yumi; Ape Escape 2 is a testament to this fact.
Why does no one care about Helga?
Japan Studio got relegated to the Gimmick studio role who just makes VR shit now.
It's actually unfair because there hasn't been a main AE game for her to appear in.
looks like a boy
How dare you.
Because they can't admit a funny monkey game is their Magnum Opus.
They don't "hate" it, they just never, EVER gave a fuck about establishing franchises for themselves. That's why they don't have any real mascot characters like Nintendo.
Look at how long it took for us to see Crash and Spyro back. Look at how much we waited to see Sir Dan again now that we're getting a MediEvil remake. They do it now because it's profitable. I don't take sides on console/company war faggotry but even I can recognize Nintendo treats their characters and franchises a bit better. Not all, sure, but way fucking better than Sony. Closest Sony has to establishing anything is Bloodborne and Demon's Souls.
No one gave a fuck when they tried to market generic shit like God of War and Uncharted. The latest God of War game was ok because they departed from tradition, but Uncharted has always been cinematic trash, for example.
They just don't fucking care.
>First series to use DS Analog controller and was once a main PlayStation series
>Japan Studio's first game ever
>Yoshida was on some E3 interview where he mentioned people begging for Ape Escape
>Crash, Spyro, Parappa, Medievil etc returning
>Already 20 years old series this year
>Some PSN avatars were shown
>AE2 and 3 were announced for PSN but 3 didn't get in
>AE1 showed up in some Red Bull gaming event
>A shirt from Hot Topic being a new piece of merchandise
>That one 2016 tweet with the pipo monkey suit, about the year of the monkey
>Some fans using an hashtag for attention
>Pipo monkey in Super Bomberman R
>In December 1st, Japan Studio held a fan event in which they revealed unseen AE concept art and put a lot of AE fanart on a fanart wall
>Yoshida even said AE1 was his favorite game to work on
>Official website was finally updated after 7 years

We still have two more birthdays for Ape Escape
At least Yosp and even Kojima retweeted some shit
They're run by apes.
The west are ignorant of her glorious tomboy grace
And then there's this faggot
2 just feels kinda cheap and not as fun as 1 or 3
GOW's success was more that it followed a formula that is currently popular and is extremely big with PS fans thanks to TLOU.
Sony usually treats their IP's as trends to the point some are literally made to be linked to a certain gen and genre.
It also doesn't help that they're terrible at fanservice and celebrating their history.
Sony might as well taught the public to hate their characters.
it's gonna be announced during this E3 screencap this
Yumi secondaries are too loud for their own good.
It never sold that well.
Gravity Rush crossover when?
First game was a success at the time.
tonight's the night
>Inb4 ape escape 4's trailer is a jab at cinematic games
s-source?
>No one gave a fuck when they tried to market generic shit like God of War and Uncharted.
wow, so that's why those games flopped.
Fun is dead.
It's a shame, since as much as people want to fuck Yumi, Ape Escape 3 is also a really fun game.
I've got no idea why they kept going on with all those spinoffs when they had such a solid series going.
AE1 has the best god damn soundtrack. The dynamic channel muting was some real next-gen shit to me back at the time.
>AE1 has the best god damn soundtrack
This. Snowy Mammoth bgm is GOAT
because cunnyseurs are the most oppressed group
What should AE4 be like?
That's a fluffy Helga
Being an Ape Escape thread, post your favorite:
>game
>minigame
>gadget
>music
>monkey
>level
>protagonist
>side character
>boss
>moment/memory
>wishes and hopes for the series
And least favorite shit too.
Yumi is overrated anyway
please
Ape Escape 3
Mesal Gear Solid
RC Car
3 Shop theme
Specter
The jungle from AE2
Jimmy
The redhead girl
all the bosses suck idunno
favorite moment is the first time you see a monkey dodge from a net swing, that shit threw me for a loop
hopes: I hope every pedophile gets thrown in a volcano and we are given ape escape 4 with new protags and lots of monkeys to catch
>game
Only played 1 and 2.
I guess 1, but I thought 2 was decent and while kinda wonky, the PSP port actually wasn't terrible.
>minigame
I guess Specter Boxing? Only for how goofy it was. Not a great one. I think the ski race was actually better but I sucked at it. FUCK THE VINE SWINGING GAME IN 2. PURE RAGE.
>gadget
I actually liked the Bananarang, especially since monkey stats could mean it didn't always work. Sky Flyer and Super Hoop are still ace though. Least fave is the RC Car. It can do some kickass stuff, but those segments where you have to move both it and yourself simultaneously suck mondo ass.
>music
Too hard to pick just one. Some of the latter half stages stand out to me more than some of the early stages, oddly enough. 2's soundtrack was forgettable.
>monkey
Any of them that don't shoot shit at you. FUCK THE UZI MONKEY BASTARDS.
>protag
American Spike from AE1, but also Yumi. Didn't really care for Jimmy.
>side character
Casi. Does Pipo Snake count? Least would be the funky monkey five. Didn't do anything for me.
>boss
The 2nd person Specter Mech fight. Least would be the goddamn giant yellow monkey.
>moment/memory
I guess the races against Jake. I barely won some of them. Least would be seeing the series crumble.
>wishes and hopes
A proper AE4. GOOD GOD WHY IS THIS SO FUCKING HARD TO HAVE? FUCK SoA.
Nothing in gaming is as satisfying as catching Monkeys in Ape Escape.
Oh fuck.
Level, uhh
Medieval Castle was cool, so was the tank stage. 2 had some decent stages. I remember the casino and pipo mech stages being amusing.
For a sequel, they should REALLY tone down this effect when you catch shitty monkeys, or catch them quickly. it's absurd having noob monkeys have the same grandiose effect as the slippery elites.
Because, other than the popularity of the series because characters are exclusively seen as fapbait, there really isn't that much interest in 3D platformers.
>there really isn't that much interest in 3D platformers that require skill
Fixed.
Just look at that star wars jedi game. Almost all of it is automated shit.
>that zelda crossover image with spike
>ape escape
>requiring skill
lol in ape escape you have a double jump and the OP helicopter move. you absolutely cannot talk down to uncharted tier platforming when defending ape escape, buddy.
>3D platformers
>skill
remember the anime?
I tried to watch it but never could find a complete rip of it.
the australian one?
I wish I didn't
imagine this but with big mission spike
It gave us some nice things
I wish we could get this show in high quality.
