Why has there been no truly addictive games this decade?
Did addictive games die off in the 2000's?

What is NIOH? Also i' d imagine some people are still addicted to mmos. Y9ur thread sux
My theory: next-gen graphics actually hurt the enjoyment of the game. Simple graphics like we had in 2000-2001 like RTCW/Deus Ex are better. Objects/actors are more distinguishable from the rest of the environment.
I would kill for a grindy pixel AAA game
No user, it was your soul that died off.
Mfw STRAIGHT EDGE
Semi-related to this, but I think that higher quality audio has made videogame soundtracks more forgettable than ever before. I'm not even going to claim that they're better or worse now, but it's definitely easier for a videogame song to be bland and easily forgotten now compared to 15 years ago. Lower quality audio meant everything had to be more distinct, which made them easier to remember.
because there are no good multiplayer games that exist and arent gay as fuck and mmos died
You just grew up user. The same wonder and drive you had of yester-years has been replaced by apathy, familiarity, and jadedness. It happens to all of us.
gatcha
There has been addictive games in the past decade but they probably aren't in a genre you like.
Do you mean games that are so fun you find them addictive, or games designed to be addictive? The latter is the entire premise of MMOs and gachashit.
MOBAs
If you're drinking tall boys of 211 you've got bigger problems than video games
yeah seriously my stomach turned just looking at that picture
Have some respect, he's dead
what a big boy
What is Dota 2.
Yeah I wonder......
Gonna take you back to the past
Opened the thread to post the exact same post
Literally me later tonight
at least the next generation of consoles will kill off shitholes like gamestop
People don't get addicted to games anymore, they get addicted to steamers
>Dying from exhaustion/malnutrition while playing a game
How does that even work? Wouldn't your body start giving off tons of internal warnings and some shit like that?
Personally I think I just grew up... or developed ADHD, idk.
Depends on the genre that you want really. There are some still going strong like the big ASSFAGGOTS games, Gacha, and /egg/ games like Factorio or Zachtronics games.
Some games did lose it's addictive status like Minecraft, Starbound, Terraria, and Stardew Valley.
>3 steel reserves
RIP
if you sit for too long you can die from clots
>Objects/actors are more distinguishable from the rest of the environment.
This is a problem, but it's because idiot art directors shoving excessive amounts of foliage and clutter into current gen games because that's the cool new way to show off graphics. Like architecture was the graphics wank of the previous gen and water was the graphics wank of the gen before that. It just so happens that this fad is damaging to gameplay.
I have been pretty fucking jaded regarding videgames since 2010 (born in 83), only games I truly enjoyed recently was BoTW, DMC5 and RE2 remake
Yeah that's fucking gross. Stuff tastes like swamp water
What about Monster Hunter World?
i'd kill for a largely singleplayer game (but with souls tier multiplayer) with OG runescape aesthetics, even down to the animation and sound quality
when i drink i sleep on the floor is this normal
Just play RS in Ironman mode
This.
everything is instantly gratifying trash not even worth getting addicted to
/thread
>the press one button to ohko everything on screen mod
yeah bro so addictive
Could never get into monhun, tried world and it was okay for a while but wouldn't call it favorite, strangely I actually liked playing PSO2 up until the point where you reach endgame and the game becomes boring
God I wish that were me
Why the fuck do they keep selling that shitty table, i've stopped by garbage "office desk", got me a fold able ikea kitchen table instead.
MMOs are dead user
Addicting Games still looks lively to me
Wait until they kill flash
You forgot
>you either ohko or they ohko you
Still a fun time waster though. Been enjoying teleporting around and letting elemental totems fry everything with a combined death beam.
