Well, what's the best Silent Hill game?
Well, what's the best Silent Hill game?
You posted it.
1 is the best overall. 2 has the best story and is the most comfy. 3 has the best waifu. Haven't played 4 yet.
1 for scares
2 for mood and depression
3 for scares again
4 for most disturbing themes
the rest is... you all know what the rest is
what makes 1 the best?
Patient but enganging buildup into its nightmare world. Solid origins story with a mystery to solve. Some extremely scary/ stressful locations. Puzzles that leave your head scratching but are mostly logical. Out of any of the games, gives the player the most freedom or sense of exploration.
-1 has the best gameplay, it's also dry, essential, to the point, it has a minimalist beauty to it while at the same time possessing a tremendous amount of small details (this is because the man that made it is a genius, play Forbidden Siren and Gravity Rush and you'll understand)
-2 is more about overall atmosphere, being thematically coherent, having a moody, beautiful soundtrack, having twin peakesque characters and weird interactions you'll remember even after you've played it
-3 is for interesting visuals, setpieces, Heather is a fantastic protagonist, probably the best personality in the entire series, and a continuation of the events of 1
-4 is the experimental title with weird, interesting shit you won't find anywhere else, has some really amazing design decisions but also some really shitty ones, the second half of the game can be a really frustrating giant escort mission.
Additionally it focuses on Walter, the single best character in the entire series and best husbando.

How you'll enjoy a Silent Hill game depends on your current mood and how you can relate to the themes of the game.
>relate to the themes of the game
Incredibly important for 2 and 4 especially.
More types of people can play 1 and 3, but a lot of people play 2 yet don't actually "get" it because they're not in the right mindset.
And 4 is even more specific.
Back when i played 4 i hadn't gone out of my house for 5 years, it hit me really fucking hard and felt like a very personal, intimate game.
Any hardcore NEET should play 4.
The third is the best, Claudia is best waifu, she did nuffin wrong
Currently a neet for two years and played 4 last year, hit home too
can someone post the PC guide?
What you call "faith", is nothing more than a child, crying out for love.
That's why you're all alone.
unironically 4
Okay, I should give 4 another try then
The best way to approach 4 is to adopt this mindset:
-This isn't a regular survival horror game like the other 3, at least not entirely
-I'm gonna spend time in the room and fuck around
-I'm gonna read up bits of lore the game isn't telling me and research on some characters
-I'm mentally prepared for the second half of the game to be a frustrating experience that isn't all that fun to play but has interesting moments here and there
Why is she so perfect, bros?
>The world you wanted is nearly here

I'm mad that it wasn't a literal Silent Hill: The Movie: The Game, could've been cool
ONE MORE SOUL TO THE CALL
1 is my favourite, 3 is probably the best on the whole though. But I really fucking adore 1. Its atmosphere and gameplay are amazing, I get lost in that game every time I play.
I played through Origins recently and aside from the very stupid decision to force analog controls and fixed camera angles together, I really enjoyed it. Has two of the best levels in the series and is a great, little addition to the series for the most part.
I think 1 is mad overrated.
2 and 3 are GOAT. 4 is underrated, and it starts to slope off pretty hard after that. Unless youre a fan of the series forget it.
Did Yea Forums know:
They found some unused Cybil menu portraits that heavily implied that during early development SH was meant to have another scenario where you play as her.
Sorta like RE2 Leon/Claire.
This was scrapped extremely early, probably due to the project already being expensive as it was.
You ever think Walter Sullivan has his genitals mutilated?
I mean, your question isn't entirely baseless, between the order and his own schizoid, traumatized mind an-
oh, wait just a goddamn second...
I did not. thank you for making me even more depressed about the series now
2 >= 1 > 3 > 4 >>> DP >= HC = SM
Hills probably would've ended up between 1 and 3.
Just watched the sh3 movie. what the fuck.
wat
Ooh. So close
Homecoming
Vincent was an amazing villain. The idea of someone manipulating supernatural events was great. He's no one special, and he's running shit.
Combine it and Origins and you're basically there.
