Pretty middle of the road jrpg series. A pretty typical slice of life, school days esque, plotline. Our hero, Rean, starts attending a military academy and is placed into a special class of the elite of the elite. An odd choice seeing as Rean is so humble. But wait, in his first adventure outside of school it is revealed that Rean has experience and training in a high level swordsman class. But was kicked out as a beginner, not because he lacked the skill, but to train him further would be too dangerous. After many class similar class trips where more and more is revealed about or humble and unassuming hero, he forms life long bonds with his new nakama. They also go on scooby do adventures to the basement of the old abandoned academy building. What could be down there? Eventually they find a busted up mech that only Rean seems to be able to interact with. But suddenly he's also able to pilot an ancient mech like only a few others are able to do. But suddenly, disaster! Rean's super powered evil side that was locked as a child fights to possess more often. Who could have done something so evil to this poor boy, none other than his father of course! A shocking twist!
That's what I remember from when I played it years ago. Also Towa best girl and dyke friend is okay about 55% of the time.

It's the same shit as sky and zero, just with trashy direction, bloated cast, and an absolute black hole of an MC. If you're a fan of the genre and you start with coldsteel, you'll probably enjoy it, if you started from sky the quality drop will be painfully noticeable.

Why would you think NISA would ever bother with a PC port of a Falcom game ever again after the Ys 8 review bombing? Since release, the game has received 95% positive reviews with the other 5% being Chinese review bombers. The people who slammed it at release haven't updated their reviews to reflect the changes. If you look at the statistics, almost all of the existing reviews are from the original launch.

It's not really up to NISA. I'm sure a PC release was part of the licensing agreement from Falcom. I know them doing French localizations was another thing they offered because XSEED couldn't do that.

There are problems with the port, most were fixed by August-September but there were problems. Most got fixed so recent reviews reflect that, but many still have issues. NISA surely is going to want to deliver well with a PC port so they will take their time and may ask Durante.

Or they'll just not port it at at all. The CS3 market is already TINY. 30% of the 30% who finished CS1 finished CS2, so just imagine how poorly CS3 is going to do on every platform it's on in the west. NISA will only make their profits off of merchandise.

They ported Caligula Effect Overdose to PC, I seriously doubt they won't port CS3 to PC after they failed the first time to try and redeem their status in the community plus to ensure the PC fanbase XSEED built with the ports of the Sky trilogy and the first two CS games aren't forgotten. I think everyone up in arms worried a PC port isn't coming is delusional. It is coming, but just like before you are going to have to wait a while after the initial release.

The Sky games are Falcom developed PC games, not XSEED ports. Their only ports are CS1 and 2, and they sold 50k and 15k respectively. There's no market there for a third sequel that has a 70% drop off rate.

I know the Sky games aren't XSEED ports, but XSEED did go back and update the portraits, sprites from the PS3 ports, and later added a forced in turbo mode since Cold Steel had it. Also, do you know how many people bought Ys VIII and Tokyo Xanadu ex+ PC ports by any chance? Even if the sales are only 15k, I have a feeling they will try and make as much of a profit as possible. XSEED was in no position to take that risk, but even though there are many rumors about NIS and NISA, they are much more stable to take this risk than XSEED.

I don't think those games were out yet when the exact Steam numbers leaked, but I assume they're in the 15 and 10k range respectively.
