Honest question. While I believe that there's some project with the IP,why people assume Smash immediately given the lack of merchandise with pretty much every other DLC character.
My guess is that they will try to get someone who made the remasters of Crash/Spyro like Vicaarious Visions or Toys For Bob.

Similar to what Nintendo did with Fire Embelem characters for new FE games and Joker for Persona 5 Scramble for the Switch. Adding Banjo Kazooie in for literal marketing purposes could be seen as sleazy shill move, but it makes sense in the endgame of things.

It's not really a leak if they're revealing what Nintendo has allowed them to reveal. Neither Nintendo or Best Buy made a very big deal out of it and it wasn't even taken down. And Joker's full render and gameplay trailer were released with no warning to everyone's surprise. I know it's confusing for Smash Bros details to get released out of the blue with no fanfare, but that's just what happened. This doesn't mean that Best Buy went behind Nintendo's back for a leak. It just means Nintendo took a weird approach with Joker.
