Because the right one isn't meant to be medieval armor. It's a style derived from Warhammer which is a sci fi fantasy series. The left is meant to be realistic and the right is fantastical, it's apples and oranges. I could compare shitty JRPG beltspam to grounded western designs too. It'd be just as stale of a bait.
