It's explained in the logs in doom 2016 that the praetor suit was made by a traitorous demon that they only refer to as "the Wretch". Assumedly he will show up in this game because Bethesda said they were going more into the lore

The nu lore goes that the Betrayer built armor for doom guy and that is what the praetor suit is. So since the Marauder has similar armor, it is safe to assume that we could see many enemies with similar armor, maybe even one with the exact same armor as Doomguy.

I don't see the Maurader being a corrupted Doomguy from another universe, just a demon specifically designed by higher demons to be Doomguy's foil (fight fire with fire and whatever), somewhat similar to the Doom Hunter.

I personally think the timeline goes Doom 1->2->64->2016->Eternal
In 64 he enters into hell to torment them forever. In 2016 they establish that Hell is a parasite dimension of sorts (as shown by Argent D'nur). They also establish that Doomguy was in hell for a long time before the events of the game. It isn't a big leap to say that Doomguy went into hell from the original universe, got trapped in the sarcophagus, then was brought back out into the 2016 universe.

I've always imagined that all variations of each demon exists, just some species are sent out on the frontlines while others are not.

Demons could just be poetic. "Oh, a human is kicking our ass? Must be angels", only for some demon-atheist to correct him, stating that angels don't exist. Angels are probably the equivalent of demons for demons.

In 2016 they were possessed aliens (specifically ones like the mancubus), in Eternal they are possessed aliens (so ones like baron of hell, hell knight, imps, etc. are unchanged for the most part since they are just normal denizens of hell)

One has to consider the perspective that the story is being told from. The demon historian himself is a resident of hell, he only understands hellish concepts. He likely understands the concepts of "holiness" as well as a diametric opposition to "hellishness." He also likely hasn't seen a simple human able to lay waste to demons before, so he would believe that this human must have some power imbued into himself to be so strong.

apparently all that "divine power" is just absorbing energy from demons he kills to keep going without rest (something the Praetor suit upgrades to new levels, that makes Doomguy even more unveliebably strong), remember, he fucking killed the titan (remember the level "titan's realm" in nuDoom?)

The director's first Doom game was 64, where he stays in hell at the end. Doom 2016 opens with Doomguy having apparently spent a large amount of time fighting demons in hell.
