Whoa

That part was actually pretty cool. You can interact and hit them too.

Serious case of "we've got a car but no roads". Nothig will come of it.

Revolutionary.

I was knee deep in B&S

Attached: axis.webm (1632x918, 1.61M)

That's weird, I remember playing Mirror's Edge just fine in 2D. Man VR is such a gimmick.

>they actually react like humans
Wew

How did /vr/ like it's completely honest portrayal in Blacked Mirror?

Attached: HeresYourControllerBro.webm (1280x640, 3M)

You can cripple their arms too? How does that work I wonder.

expensive ass gimmick you need a giant room for

It looks nothing like Mirror's Edge. If it was Mirror's Edge in VR that would be fucking rad.

You can headbutt enemies.
10/10.

>need a giant ass room for
Way to expose yourself as never using VR before, dumbass.

Attached: IMG_0736.jpg (570x575, 47K)

It looks fun but it doesn't look $1000+ fun.

Did you watch the video? They essentially stayed still, maybe at best you'll need like 40 cm.

There's $400 options now assuming your PC isn't over 5 years old

This is good point. Then again with how VRchat just added new models and such, it could be quite nice creating whatever environment and whatever things you want inside then walking around in it. Basically the ultimate sandbox simulator.

>$1000+
WMR headsets like the Oddysey+ are 300 bucks.
i want this "hurr VR is expensive" meme to die already.

Attached: ww.jpg (200x200, 6K)

Not him but did you see SAO? They didn't even have to move 1:1 in real life for VR. This iteration of VR isn't actual VR. Palmer somehow got lucky some idiot with 2billion dollars didn't realize this.

>WMR headsets like the Oddysey+ are 300 bucks.
>WMR headsets that keep getting discontinued and can't get updates or tech support anymore.

>tfw VR is training people to pilot MJOLNIR armor in the future
>tfw once neural prosthetic limb tech advances to an impressive level it could be combined with VR to make a real MJOLNIR tier suit

>did you see SAO?
>Palmer somehow got lucky
Palmer actually has the SAO theme as his alarm clock song. He deserved to get fired.

What? Where is this? I don't see how that relates to prostethics. If anything, it seems more like robots instead of suits. Kind of like Iron Man 2.

>keep getting discontinued
Acer is going to release a new one wtf are you talking about

That level of VR is still many years away, everyone realizes this. What we're calling VR now is still cool and fun.

not falling for this again

Attached: junk.png (277x117, 47K)

Prosthetic tech is reaching a point where the limbs react to nerves and thinking the movement moves them. That's how the MJOLNIR suits worked in the Halo novels, except lightning fast and with incredibly hard and powerful metal of course. The part where VR comes in is learning to move by thought and interfacing with a HUD.

you can still refund.

Wow this isn't coming out any time soon is it
Meanwhile Blade & Sorcery pretty much does all this shit and more

All desktop ""gaming"" is just pressing buttons as you watch a character do pre-made animations. VR is actual play.

That's retarded.

>another soulless tech demo
Whoa...

youtube.com/watch?v=DljCutE9uDI

been more than 2 weeks unfortunately

I hate the soul/soulless buzzword

It's true. It's no different than using a remote control to change a tv channel.

Hell yea I hear that.

Attached: swordnado.webm (640x400, 2.84M)

Try to think about it. What is your actual interaction with games? Just buttons and thumbsticks or keys and mouse.

Mean while VR has you using your actual hands in the game. When you fire a gun, loose an arrow or swing a weapon at a target, it's YOU doing it with your own accuracy. Not some player character with a coded statistic.

>bait this lame

Attached: 1544757795414.jpg (450x338, 19K)

it doesn't matter how well the tech works if there's no games worth playing

Climbing 2.0 and foot tracking SOON

Truth is lame sometimes.

>I can't cope, so it must be bait

Fine. Be happy with your glorified QTE then.

This has more applications than B&S though.

It's not even close to releasing so who gives a fuck, B&S is actually doing the early access meme right.
Once Index is out we'll probably get eye-poking within a month.

Pressing buttons is a form of interaction, you twit. As is engaging with game rules and objectives through them.

Would thick wooden shield block that kind of bullet I wonder.

Attached: bustersword.webm (1280x800, 1.89M)

I never said it wasn't interaction, just that it's very limited and detach compared to VR motion controls. Try to read properly.

Let me know when we have holodecks I can actually run around in, or Matrix shit where I just plug my brain in and lay down and its like Im really in the vidya.

VR will always be shit as long as I have to sit in a room and make sure I dont run into walls.

Attached: NIPNONGGONGBEAR.jpg (790x581, 28K)

Hardly. Honestly, I like all this animation stuff, but without limb severing, it just feels utterly hollow. I'm sure the physics is super complex as is to get these monkeys to right themselves and shit, but it'd be 20 times better with limb removal.

As is, all this stuff just makes me think, "so what?" It's like making accurate crowbar sounds in HL, it's neat, but meaningless, because you don't use the fucking crowbar past the first level. Every single one of these enemies will be killed with a gun.

If it's a degale brand deagle?
No way, .44 Magnum is some serious stoppin powa.
Now maybe sheilds could block a glocknade's 9mm, and deff most .22

Attached: IMG_2193_1024x1024.jpg (1024x1018, 211K)

You wrote this:

>VR is actual play.

Which implied that there was no true interaction with a game happening. Which is utter nonsense.

>go to your room to play VR

"I'm new to VR and only want to shit post see ya guys"

what if you could use one of those treadmill things that keep you in place.

>When you fire a gun, loose an arrow or swing a weapon at a target, it's YOU doing it with your own accuracy.
Hardly.

With a gun, you both lose parallax because there's only one depth plane, and you also have a terrible resolution because, you know, VR. Basically anything without a red dot is unusable.

With a bow and arrow, you'll constantly knock your headset around. I don't know how anyone finds this experience compelling, the controllers are too bulky for it and attempting to sight down a bow is tiring without the support you get from a bow string.

And finally, there's melee. Probably the biggest waste of time in VR, because there's no recoil. So all you wind up with is mismatch, which is hardly an actual interaction.

>no force feedback
Sorry, but until this can be overcome, VR will always remain a shitty gimmick of strapping a pair of screens to your face.

Attached: treadmill.webm (1280x720, 1.58M)

This episode reminded me why I'm uninterested in current VR. It's nowhere near good enough even if it's kinda cool. It's more like something I'd want to do at a theme park or an arcade (if they existed) than something I would bother to own.

Way to double expose yourself you fag.
There's a grid in the headset you set around your play area so you don't run into shit.
Why do you even bother when you have no idea what you're talking about?

Attached: image0_2.jpg (277x271, 9K)

I have no room and VR is an absolute fucking hassle to use. The number of games that seriously expect me to reach down and grab shit off the floor is insane. Moving feels awful with trackpads or joysticks, and you have to do dumb shit like snap turn because otherwise you'll get sick, and if you actually turn you'll fuck up your wire.

This already feels exhausting to look at. I'm already tired of holding W in games like Skyrim and Fallout 76.

Which is why autorun exists.

>otherwise you'll get sick
Are people this weak?
Only time I've gotten sick is when I was falling in game.

>accidentally stop walking
>get violently flung into the wall
Great idea, retards.

>I'd want to do at a theme park or an arcade (if they existed)
Ugh I dunno about that. All that sweat that needs be cleaned off the visors from different folks using it. But yeah VR is still in it's infancy and probably won't be close the BM's take on it for another ten, twenty at most which is generous speculation. I find VR to be a fun accessory, though not an alternative, in gaming.

Yeah those cars will flop. I'll invest in horses.

>>Only time I've gotten sick is when I was falling in game.
You haven't got sick because all you play is baby shit with safety controls, dude. Boot up Quake in VorpX and try some bunny hopping.

I've never gotten sick, but last night I tried the Mario VR demo and a few other games I've play in VR fucks with my coordination like if I move forward my head and body kinda move forward with as if I were to actually walk.

>not a troll appears and attacks you causing you to flinch and fall

No, that's a reskin of a glock mod and the glock itself is more of a proof of concept to get a gun in B&S so the "bullets" don't even penetrate much less interact believably with geometry.
Not that anyone wants guns in B&S for anything more than memery.
Hopefully other games will address guns more in depth since the H3 guy is obsessed with sausages or something.

Attached: 1550804771584.webm (600x600, 2.78M)

Sounds like you need the exercise then. That tiredness is only going to get worse if you don't.

Why did you shotgun Adam Sessler, user? Meth was gonna punch his timeclock eventually.

That's your implication, not mine. I'm saying pressing buttons isn't the same as doing the actual motions yourself.

>power goes out
>walk off the veranda and die

That genuinely looks like a real life photo from the thumbnail, what the fuck

Haven't used my VR in months.

After working all day I like to sit down and relax. VR requires actually effort and movement, for one.
The second is just no good games. Pavlov and onward were fun for a bit. But without the tactile feedback to guns it just feels horribly awkward to use. Plus my hands would spazz out all over the place constantly, and I still haven't figured out what's broken.

Plus I have to unplug a monitor whenever I want to use it and multiple USB ports.

I'll try again once they have a decent stand alone headset that doesn't need my computer and isn't covered in wires everywhere.
Or maybe once they make a good flight simulator.

The biggest disappointment in actual gameplay imo though (outside wires and other technical limitations) is movement. Theres just not enough space to move in real life, and moving with teleportation or joysticks just feels really lame.

Power of lighting.

The devs are really into watching liveleak videos and getting that authentic snuff film feel, bless their hearts
Hopefully the project doesn't sputter out, some of the tech is really great

Attached: Dodgeball.webm (700x442, 2.93M)

In my experience with those things, I call bullshit to most and the rest aren't as big a deal as you make out.

End of the day, it's still miles better than pointing a crosshair on a flat screen with a mouse or stick.

I had to go to hospital last time I played VR because I slammed my hand so hard against my desk it lost all sensation in it.
You don't need a big room, but it I'd recommend one.

Sounds like your sensors are set up badly or if you're using inside-out, your setup is fucked up
I'd troubleshoot for you but you sound like a tired out wagie who needs to take a nap. VR is too much work for anyone but the most autistic big brains.

With VR you fall into the uncanny valley territory though.

With a computer I know it's a game and everything is simulated and feels that way. In VR those small differences do make a bigger deal because it feels like it should be reality, but its lacking.

So shooting a gun with a mouse? It's just a fun game.
Shooting a gun in VR? It just feels incredibly lacking because of how off it feels.

>End of the day, it's still miles better than pointing a crosshair on a flat screen with a mouse or stick.
This. It's hard to go back to firing with a mouse in a shooter. It's like using a pencil properly for the first time and then going back to holding it by the eraser end with your finger tips while drawing and writing.

You're really reaching. Nobody I know has had these issues with VR.

>play fnaf vr
>it actually translates nearly 1:1 to vr gameplay
>it's even a little fun

Attached: 1539400884881.png (600x600, 98K)

I went through the normal sensor trouble shooting steps, even swapped them out and tried new ones.

I was really into it for months when I got it and spent tons if time trying to fix it, eventually just gave up. Probably broken sensors or controllers because it's not consistent either. Some days it's fine others I can't even play beat saber.

Not worth the repair costs for subpar games though, hence my waiting. But I still keep a lookout for interesting news

Copefags putting a little more effort into it today
This shit is hilarious

Attached: xD1alvu.jpg (4032x2268, 1.11M)

This post is still retarded nonsense even if you claim to have not meant that

>you're reaching because my anecdotal evidence with my VRChat erp buddies!
Yeah fuck off. VR is still jsut a gimmick at this point, trying to pretend it's perfect just makes it look even worse than it is.

Getting angry just shows how crappy your debate was to begin with.

Why have the platforms and not just use the floor?

Agreed. With VR, your expectations for 1:1 accuracy is reasonably higher. It doesn't help that VR games are being made on shoestring budgets right now either.

Mangle in VR is cute!_____

Attached: 1558607776362.webm (790x564, 121K)

Is there actually power based on arm movement?

>debate
>b-but in high school
Kill yourself. This isn't a debate. Its pointing out flaws in a retarded meme head set.

Anybody who has actually shot a gun in real life can easily feel the massive difference between a real gun and shooting in VR. It's not even close.
Anyone who has used a bow or melee weapon in real life can feel a massive difference between VR and the real thing.

Looks like they have those "butt kicker" things you usually put on your seat.

Boneworks is the first game I've seen that's even vaguely approaching the level of accuracy that's necessary to make VR not feel like absolute ass, but it's still miles away.

I honestly don't think we're going to see anything decent for at least another 5 years.

stepping off the platform means you're going out of the play area

I legit can't play regular video games anymore after playing vr.

*clicks left mouse button*
Ah now this is more immersive and realistic

Your whole argument is "if it's not a complete and perfect simulation, then we should stick to 2D screen and joypads", which is stupid. I'm not saying the flaws don't exist but they don't matter to most people.

You sound like some tumblrite desperately looking for a reason why something is offensive.

It's better.
Just like how anime girls are better than pseudo realistic but flawed drawings.

Because the anime girl is obviously stylized you let flaws be ignored. Because the realistic drawing is supposed to be realistic, the flaws are extremely apparent and offputting.

Fat

A rug would be better, no? With the platform raised like that you could fumble and wipe out.

I've done both and it doesn't mean shooting in VR isn't fun. You act like going to an arcade and playing House of the Dead isn't fun or something because wow there's no feedback.

This is extremely funny cope, please continue

>stick to 2D screens
That's why those things work better though.

We can work on it in VR, but the expectations for a game in VR are higher than in a PC game. And if VR games aren't satisfying those expectations it's going to be more apparent in them than in a PC game.

He's wrong. It's for the subwoofers to have an effect. There's no reason why you can't just use your standard chaperone for boundaries.

Playing HotD is about 20 times more fun than anything in VR. The gun sights actually work, the image is actually clear, reloading is clean instead of a glitchy mess, and the gameplay is rock solid.

VR is worse than 30 year old tech.

>but they don't matter to most people.
Not the guy you replied to, but judging by what's popular for VR right now, the people who it does matter to are my kind of people. Which is millions of gamers. VR content is sorely lacking for many of us right now. I would be all over it if I was seeing lots of games I care about coming out for it, successfully using the perks of VR to do more than just have you put your hand behind your head to pretend you're pulling a bowstring while you stand still and fight waves of faceless mobs.

>The gun sights actually work, the image is actually clear, reloading is clean instead of a glitchy mess, and the gameplay is rock solid.

Sounds like you haven't even played VR or maybe some early game and just attributed to all of VR like a retard.

>poorfag

>VR is gonna be revolutionized with the Virtual Boy, just you wait!

>No wait, it'll be revolutionized with Kinect and EyeToy, just you wait!

>No, wait, wait, guys, okay, seriously, it's gonna be revolutionized with Occulus!

>Guys, stop giving me a swirlie, Boneworks will save us!

>GUYS NOOOO INDEX CAN STILL S-WHIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

It's funny how shit old lightgun games were in retrospect, you're literally just pointing at spots on a 2D field in an extremely narrow cone of vision. You didn't even have to use the sights and reloading was usually pressing a pedal or firing off screen.
Have to admit though, shooting in VR is tough. Actually have to make an effort, it's like learning to play video games all over again.

VR is like communism. Only rich retards support it and every time you criticize it you get the "YOU JUST HAVEN'T TRIED THE REAL VR!" excuse.

>Kinect and EyeToy
>VR
Stop huffing paint, poorfag

I honestly would jump onto VR bandwagon this second (since Valve's headset and controllers came out) but I'm physically limited by my small flat. I don't want to be constantly stressed about smashing my expensive TV or a monitor. So I'm pretty much classed out of experience because I don't own a high class apartment.

I've got a Vive sat right next to me.

The sight picture with an outstretched arm on pistol sights is a bad joke. A 480p arcade monitor that's 20" across at a reflected distance of 3 feet creates an image with a far higher pixel density per degree than any VR headset.

Reloading is absolute trash. I don't know how anyone can defend the clunkiness of reloading in most VR games, anything where you have to remove and attach mags, especially with pistols, is just terrible.

Have sex, virgins.

Shouldn't be an issue unless you live in a shoebox. All you really need is enough space to stretch your arms out around you and you can tell when you're nearing the edge of the defined play space because all headsets have systems for that.

You mean ViRgins

>480p arcade monitor that's 20" across at a reflected distance of 3 feet creates an image with a far higher pixel density per degree than any VR headset.
> than any VR headset.

Try to keep up with the times gramps

>boneworks

I agree with you on the sights thing on a Vive, have no choice to hold handguns tight to you, but I've never had trouble reloading in say H3VR, the dev has put a lot of effort into the feel of manipulating weapons.
Except for the P90, that gun is a clusterfuck trying to feed the mag through the posts.

holy shit some anons are seething about ppl enjoying vr

>year 2019 of gay clown dystopia

Yea Forums seethes about everything.

>but I've never had trouble reloading in say H3VR
I have nothing but hassle. It's nothing like real life, because reloading is where you really notice how much of a disadvantage the total lack of haptic feedback is. I've sat there trying to coax a mag in for 10 seconds before, it's fucking atrocious.

Sure, on some guns it's easy and the mag jumps out of your hands, but anything where you're feeding into the bottom of a grip is a total crapshoot.

WTF VALVE IS #CANCELLED

This is all the space I have. Kinda enough to stretch both arms in opposite direction and even have a bit of walking room, but still way too dangerous for that 55'' TV.

Attached: IMG_2949.jpg (1920x1290, 2.26M)

Haha jokes on you, I jerked myself off so hard in the first week of VR cunny i'm now officially asexual

There's an easymode reloading option somewhere in the menu

>wants knuckles

Attached: knuckles btfo.webm (360x480, 283K)

Stop being poor

That doesn't really fix the problem, though. What's the point in having 2 tracked controllers if I'm basically not using the second one?

Honestly, I'm pissed there isn't just a decent weighted handgun controller out there. I'd totally pay 100-200 bucks for a gun covered in trackers with solenoid recoil. VR controls are atrocious.

the knuckles have actual new features and finger tracking and stuff. Your shitpost is just wrapping a strap around the controller that does nothing

I didnt even know this before watching that episode but it turns out that watching two straight guys fuck is the most disturbing thing i've ever seen.

Should be called convenient mode!

VR is so fucking immersive for cockpit-based games, I just want a proper VR-based mech MMO

My first thought; can I drop down low, extend both index fingers, and ram them up my enemy's ass when they aren't looking? This is absolutely important.

Yes though currently VAM is the only VR app with physics enabled buttholes

Attached: 1551293472362.webm (700x392, 2.92M)

hype

Pretty sure you could work with that. You can see the boundary when you're near it (on a Rift at least), so if you set the limit to be in front of the TV stand you'll see it way before you're actually close to the TV screen. The whole boundary appears when you're close to it too, so even if you step back and get close, you'll see it pop up in front of you.

That's like asking why have an entire keyboard if I don't have to press R to reload.

The video shows exactly that.

How many people will overestimate their fighting prowess because they've played 200 hours of VR boxing

There are plenty of games that are cockpit style VR all you need is a chair, a controller and an immunity to vertigo

None because VR doesn't work like that. You're basically blind.

Not any more than currently do because they can run like naruto, or whatever the current embarrassing adolescent equivalent is

If you play 200 hours of VR boxing you're probably significantly more dangerous than the average pasty nerd who overestimates their fighting prowess anyway. Exercise is exercise.

the way that thing was trying to get up when he had a bunch of balloons attached to his feet really blew me away

Right? It was clearly trying to stand, but a lack of a balance prevented it and it reacted accordingly. Usually it would just ragdoll or stay still in any other game.

I wanna fuck that balloon mannequin

there's always one of you

>one
We are legion and we drive technology forward with our dicks

It felt like it still went through the set animation with no regards to physics up to a certain point. Up until the moment it could place its legs on the ground it felt very static.

>Finally buying my own place
>Decent sized living room
>No longer putting money away each month for a deposit

This is the year I can finally afford VR, and it's finally shaping up to be worthwhile

Congratulations.

Watching guys like this makes me physically angry because I had all the softy punched out of me as a kid and I envy these sheltered pricks who still get to be fags.

is boneworks a game or an engine?

No one is gonna pay 1000$ for a VR headset.

It's supposed to be a game

This is fucking brilliant, thanks for the idea user.

It sold out in an hour.

Ok, Yea Forums I usually try to hide that I am shilling VR, but this has become more serious. Forget Boneworks or whatever real games are coming out. We are on the cusp of stepping into the golden age of giantess porn. I need you to go give Gabe or Zuckerburg your money now so we can all move into this glorious future together. I am depending on you, so don't let this stall out because you feel obligated to hate everything.

I'm extremely impressed and can't wait to see how this stuff develops.
That being said there's no way I'm shilling out money until there's a wide variety of VR games where the game is the focus and not the VR.

>tfw can feel her hand hovering over my head
What the hell? VR is magic.

This manga was kino and basically exactly how I expected VR to be. Suits when.

I just started reading it. Surprised to learn it's by the guy who made I Am A Hero. Lovin it so far.

>he can't immediately recognize that the wireframe-over-blobs aesthetic is clearly very deliberate, not an actual wireframe at all

Yeah, you know, that show that fails at sci-fi.

Not him, but I actually have a Rift S and the grid pops up way too slow in games like beat saber.

I mitigated that be basically learning what the ideal positioning in my room is to not hit stuff.
