Undertale has fans but it also generates enormous asshurt. Its popularity feeds into the reaction that Sans getting in would cause. Yea Forums would actually go into meltdown.

I think realistically it has to be either Frisk or Sans. Frisk could get in with the ability to switch into Chara but Sans has more potential for an interesting and unique moveset.
Sans could work if part of Frisk's moveset. depending on if you play like frisk or chara, san's can come out in one of two ways, with a gag or an attempt to kill you (you would dodge it obviously.) could be an interesting dynamic.
