I mean it was technically the first game shown for the 3DS at E3 2010 and it came out in 2012 and this is 2019 at the end of its lifespan, but I don't think anything ever surpassed it for me. I haven't given my 3DS much love in a few years though as I haven't even played anything on it since getting a Switch, and I want to at least increase my library for it with everything worth playing before they're out of stores. Haven’t played it yet (currently trying to finish up Devil Survivor Overclocked) but from what I’ve heard, the gameplay has many welcomed improvements to the original gameplay but the story is pretty controversial.

I liked link between worlds, ace combat and splinter cell.
Also, rayman origins was good, so was the rayman 2 port. Xenoblade chronicles is great if you can't bother emulating. Project x Zone 2 was probably one of my favorites.
Citizens of Earth and all the Kirby games are definitely worth playing.
Then you can play whatever snes, gba, ds, genesis and nes games you want.

The entire etrian odyssey series is good

It had more higher profile titles, but still way weaker library than DS.

They fixed a lot of things from smt 4, like the fucking tokyo map.
Music is great and the gameplay is also great.

The velvet fights were honestly really disappointing too. There should have been a postgame where they actually fight you, because the ones you do for the tickets are pathetic. You can confuse all of them pretty easily, which basically neuters the entire fight.
