From the phrasing, my assumption is that this is a third-party title, and that it's something that people have actively been making the connection to online. When this news first broke, the title people were connecting this to the most was Scalebound. I don't know where the rights to that lie, though - if Microsoft completely owns the IP, then I doubt Platinum could shop it around, though I guess Nintendo could just negotiate for the rights to the project. Between Bayonetta 3 and Scalebound (and the work they were doing on that Granblue game before), does Platinum have the manpower for another title? Still, if we're looking at the title that's been discussed in relation to this rumor the most, it's Scalebound.
In terms of other well-publicized cancellations, the only one that instantly comes to mind that I saw people talking about is Mega Man Legends 3. But while there were some murmurs about it initially, I don't think it's something that's been discussed a lot, at least recently.
When you look at discussions happening right now about what's going to be appearing at Nintendo's press conference, the only 'dead IP' that is really getting a lot of traction is Banjo-Kazooie. There was never a Banjo game that was announced and then cancelled though (I suppose there could've been one in development at some point), and while Banjo is being discussed a lot, I don't think any of it's been in-relation to this rumor. I don't know how tuned in they are to online discussions, though - they might see the increased Banjo discussion, and while obviously a lot of it is pertaining to Smash, they might think that part of it is related to this rumor. I really doubt this one, though.

Frankly, this is what I want to see. Zero’s bitter taste is still fresh enough in people’s mouths that I think Star Fox fans WANT to see them try it again but with less suck, and the series hasn’t been dead long enough to be forgotten. Meanwhile, if you bring back a series that hasn’t seen light since the GameCube era, it’ll probably get some buzz for a little while then be quickly forgotten by all the zoomers these days.

Ah, forgot about that. To be fair, that was intended more as a tech demo - as far as I remember, they didn't start production on a new Banjo title (ignoring the handhelds) until the failed Banjo X. But I mean, yeah, Banjo-Threeie was technically announced as early as the end of Banjo-Tooie, but I don't know, my impression was more that it was a title that was discontinued during development that they're paying to finish, rather than a title that was promised but that they never even really started on. But who knows? I'd be extremely hyped if it was Banjo-Threeie, though I doubt that's what it is.
I completely forgot about Silent Hills, but without Kojima I don't see that happening, and it's not a title I think would ever come to Switch. I can't really think of any other high-profile cancellations other than that in the last couple of years.
