TV show was good >inb4 not muh shonen Just like 06' it was once again fucked over by incompetent executives that demanded way more then what was possible.
The game was initially designed for 360 and PS3 but Sega had a deal with Nintendo and they told them to make the game for the Wii U but refused to allow them to delay the game, so they basically had to focus all their efforts just for optimization alone.
Dominic Clark
It's a curse called "furries"
Hunter Kelly
I clearly wasn't referencing the TV show, it's a good show, and the best thing to come out of the trash heap that was Sonic Boom's conception. However, even if Sonic Boom was made on the Xbox and PS4, it still would've been shit because the game design from it's very foundation is complete ass. But that's to be expected when you whore out your most valuable ip to a studio that hasn't made a single product since their inception in 2008.
Robert Scott
I don't think Sonic is nessecarily "cursed", it's just that he keeps being handed to shitty studios and devs. Crash had the same problem until recently, all of his games after the trilogy and crash team racing was not recieved very well. All Sonic needs is people who understand and care about the franchise, like Taxman.
Michael Bailey
Fair enough. Still just like 06' executive meddling turned what would've just been a mediocre game to a downright unfunctional one.
Jayden Jenkins
The problem with this is that while Sonic is considered a joke at this point, he has an avid niche fanbase that continue to support it and give Sonic Team profit.
Think of it this way: If you know for a fact that no matter what you do, no matter how dogshit the product is, it will always make a profit; Why bother trying to make it good or giving it to good developers that'll probably demand more cash for the talents?
Sebastian Hill
Western branches played a vital role in Sonic 2's development, pretty much did Sonic Adventure 2 themselves, and I don't even have to bring up Mania.
Boom was handled by some third party studio and treated like cashgrab tie-in for the show rather than a proper new Sonic title.
Nicholas Nguyen
Didn't the remake fuck up the mechanics of the first game and ruin the visual style?
Parker Barnes
>It's not well-loved in its homeland Bullshit, it's decently popular in Japan, even if it's arguably "bigger" overseas, but that applies to a lot of franchises.
Daniel Price
Probably the only time I agree with a franchise being better off with western devs than the Japanese branch.
Aaron Harris
Self respect?
Gavin Thompson
With Sonic mania, taxman got all his influence from the original trilogy of sonic games. But if there was a taxman for 3d sonic, where would he get his influence from? SA1 SA2, despite them being flawed? Like i feel it will be harder for there to be a taxman for 3d sonic, since there exists no perfect 3d sonic game. Just perfect levels in those games
Isaiah Foster
SoJ are the ones who signed a Wii U exclusivity deal deep into the game's development Not saying it would've been good otherwise tho
Benjamin Nguyen
Donkey Kong Country is the superior platforming series.
Boom the game got fucked over by Sega's reoccurring inability to negotiate contracts.
Oliver Nguyen
1. Who needs self-respect when you have money 2. Why bother with self-respect when you have the least self-respecting fans in the world
Jordan Williams
No. Sega just needs to franchise is out to fans.
Give us the Sonichu game we deserve. Sonic Mania proved that fans know what makes a good Sonic game.
Kevin Anderson
Literally just make an SA game but without the friend levels. It's not fucking hard and literally this is what everyone wanted from day fucking 1.
Alternatively, if you really want Sonic's friends to be in the games that fucking much, rework Sonic Heroes concept to be less buggy and with better level designs. That's not a fair comparison since you can't beat perfection.
Bentley Moore
Can we like, just have a well done Sonic Adventure 3 to revive this series?
Gabriel Lewis
Sonic games are dogshit since Sonic 2. Abysmal complexity for platformers and stage bosses are memes.
Christian Bennett
Sonic Adventure 3 would pull the series out of the hole it's dug. Then Mania 2 a few years after that and it will be back on track to being one of the best series of all time
Bad example. SoJ meddled with development and moved the game onto inferior hardware, Sonic 2 had US staff working partly on it which influenced kino Sonic 3&K's development moving forward. Sonic Team USA also polished SA1 international which was buggy on it's JPN DC release and spearheaded SA2.
Heroes/Shadow sucked ass admittedly but were at least still fundamentally playable which is more than anyone can say about SoJ's Sonic 06.
SoA staff just flat out understand Sonic more than the SoJ's staff. There's a reason you hear more praise for Sonic 2/3&K/Mania instead of Sonic 1/CD.
Jack Russell
Quite a few people make their own sonic game engines that look pretty neat
>have a well done Sonic Adventure 3 >Sonic Adventure >Well done At best it'll be an endearing mess.
Brayden Campbell
Sonic 1 was shit but CD was great. >They're still people who refuse to face the fact Sonic 06' was essentially their Sonic Adventure 3
Wyatt Rivera
>Sonic 1 was shit No wonder Sonic died with Sonic 3 & Knuckles for the mainstream audience.
Isaiah Green
See Even the director of the game admitted that the mess that was Rise of Lyric was their fault with bad scoping of the game Those western branches are long gone from several "recounstructions" and also had a lot of input and work from Japanese devs within those branches. SoA pretty much does only product development and licsencing nowadays. The only thing of significance they made was the shitty SEGA Forever mobile ports. Freelance devs, not a western branch
If the camera controls aren’t bad that could cinch it.
Xavier White
2D in the west, 3D in the east.
Nicholas Butler
The only good things CD had for it were aesthetics and it's JPN soundtrack. Otherwise the level design alone automatically disqualifies it from being anywhere near the top tier classics.
06 is more of a reboot gone horribly wrong that takes the worst aspects of the Adventure games and cranks it up to 11 instead of a proper sequel with actual polish.
Cameron Watson
>muh mainstream audience >Despite I just said CD, the most experimental and ambitious Classic Sonic game, was great Let go of your nostalgiafaggotry glasses. Even hardcore classic fans admit that Sonic 1 was more of a "test drive" for the real kino.
Jace Morris
East can't even into 3D anymore without forcing awfully padded 2D sections in the shitty boost games.
Jonathan Perez
>there are still people who refuse to face the fact that they're spouting a low quality meme
Heroes was 3 what the hell are you talking about. It streamlines the multiple levels for diferent characters for rapidly switching between them. to fit the situation.
Kayden Phillips
>Sega of Japan should let go of Sonic and hand it over to a western division. ...But they have, look up Sonic Pillar Team
Jace White
> It streamlines the multiple levels for diferent characters for rapidly switching between them. to fit the situation. I see you don't understand the meaning of streamlined. Also that sort of switching dumbed down each character as well as teams to the point that it's not the same product.
Jeremiah Cooper
Agreed, but they don't make me feel like I'm in a 90s Pepsi commercial, Sonic is just more 'radical dude!' and I enjoy that.
Yeah, and Sega of Japan fucked it up. Shitposting is effective when you know the facts.
Jason Robinson
Nah, don't give it to a western division. Let Sega of Europe handle it.
Nathaniel Smith
>Denuvo of europe After the stunt they pulled with Mania? No thanks.
Ryan Jenkins
What animal is Whisper supposed to be. Fox? Wolf?
Carter Hall
Why?
Wyatt Evans
Oh no! I'm not wasting my time searching for emerald shards with a broken radar and piss easy combat between the deafening beeps and explosions of the mech stages and the actually fun sonic/shadow stages. You could loop the pumpkin hill theme til the cows cum, but it doesn't make up for the rest of the game.
Cameron Jones
SA2's Knuckles levels were pretty good. I liked exploring and digging.
Leo Rodriguez
They don't care not just the IDW exclusive characters, but also everyone else that didn't had their origin to be from the games. That includes characters like Scratch and Grounder, the FFs, Snively, the president and his daughter and the elder owl from OVA, and more. Of course, I'm aware that Spinball exists and it was good, but it was entirely developed by only americans, without any help from the japaneses.
In other words, if your favorite Sonic character happens to be one who didn't originate from the games, then consider yourself to be EXTREMELY unlucky in a VERY unfortunate situation.
And that is a good thing. Leave those shitstains where they belong.
Adrian Jackson
Someone post the image of Sonic Team staff moving to Nintendo
Anthony Myers
See I think SoJ care more about the IDW OC's than Archie's since they seem to get actual merchandise outside of the comic and actually got drawn by Yuji Uekawa himself. Doubt they will ever appear in the games though, and that's for the better.
You could argue that Heroes wasn’t 3, you’d be a retard, but sure. 06 was definitely adventure 3 in everything but name, so fuck you
Daniel Brown
Shadow the Hedgehog was basically an Adventure game too.
Julian Nguyen
DiC and they're dead.
Austin Johnson
The level of incompetence in Sonic Team is astounding. Did you know that Sonic Forces is built off Sonic Lost World's gameplay engine? Instead of something that would make sense, like Sonic Generations or Unleashed's one.
Blake Mitchell
>People are still calling for a Sonic Adventure 3 That's about as likely as a Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts 2.
Ayden Sanchez
I never implied if I ever want or not the said characters in games, but granted, I hope you're not implying you would rather have more characters like the Deadly Six, the Wisps and Infinite, and more stories like the ones from Lost World and Forces.
>I think SoJ care more about the IDW OC's than Archie's since they seem to get actual merchandise outside of the comic. If I'm not mistaken, didn't Sally also got merchandise initially?
Regardless, like you said, I also believe that any existent character who wasn't originated from games will never appear in the games, be it for better or for worse or for whatever. At least, I think as long SoJ still holds any control and power over the franchise.
Asher Adams
Put out a Sonic Xenoverse next. It's the most logical course of action for a new game that is not essentially a sequel or a remake.
Nolan Smith
Bartleby should be in the next Sonic game
Tyler Jackson
Game characters > Archieshit >Stories A fucking lorefag, 6/10 made me reply
Liam Howard
Yeah, a company with little experience, and not developed in-house at SEGA. Mania team did completely fine, and that should be proof that with competent devs, you can make a good Sonic game.
Sega should just let go of Sonic altogether. Fucking give some of their other IPs some love. Make another Skies of Arcadia or Sega Bass Fishing. Sick of seeing the blue autistic bait get attention.
Benjamin Clark
Yeah, make another Sega Bass Fishing but add Big the Cat.
Gabriel Rivera
Perhaps during the TV run she got merchandise, but I don't recall anything coming out of the comic run.
David Kelly
I'm not sure how that's relevant considering all of those mechanics are either absent or ruined completely in Heroes. No, fuck you for spouting your bullshit as fact.
