No one predicted this game would flop as badly as it did
Admit it
>no romances
>beta male virgin protagonist Freelancer
I did. Shoulda had romances BioWare.
>No One
Kek, if you read the Kotaku articles before it was released, yes, it was a fucking disaster
>Company mostly known for Single-Player Story-Driven RPGS.
>Get them to make a looter-shooter. A genre they have no experience with.
I did.
You're right ,people thought it would flop and fail but bioware really brought the idea to a whole new level.
it was fun
I did .what they showed at e3 was so scripted that it reminded me of destiny1s e3 gameplay.
anita visiting them was also a big red flag
because they shouldnt have the time to let a snake
visit them while they are supposed to finish a game this "big"
t. "anthchad"
I expected a bad reception and to be forgotten rather quickly even for the genre.
I admit, I wasn't expecting to be this huge of a disaster or how incompetent (not even mediocre) everything about this game is! The more amusing part, is that it refuse to be forgotten, but for all the wrong reasons!
But, zoom zoom zoomer, everyone did
I'm pretty sure they used the exact same voice actors for their "gameplay" video from the Division, from that point on I knew it was going to be garbage and every subsequent reveal only further cemented that idea.
>Marketed as a Destiny Killer but distanced itself from the comparison
>lacked PvP, a standard in most game and a no brainer inclusion in this game
I knew it was DoA without PvP but it clearly was worse than that.I personally believe now that the game is completely dead and bioware knows it but the only reason can't offcially acknowledge it to some extent would be to avoid a lawsuit which is why EA has been more prominent in stating that they're dedicated to Anthem than Bioware is.Anthem was false advertised and overall a broken product and nothing in the next year will fix that. I think the main players at bioware are just keeping the lights while everyone hops over to the new dragon age and pray that they won't bungle another game.
Your fault for trusting EA to make a good game OP
>copies destiny down to a T
>ends up having the same exact issues as destiny
>"no one could have seen this coming"
It's fucking embarrassing that Anthem actually sold decently. God I wish the retards that support obviously terrible cash grabs would get a fucking hold of themselves
I did.
It came out way too late for it to catch up with Destiny
A lot of people here did
>"This will kill bioware"
>"abandoned withtin 2 weeks"
which is suprising since it's the first time they where ever right.
Almost everyone did.
>a Bioware game with no romances
>yet another looter shooter
>looked generic as fuck
>trusting Bioware after Andromeda
>Bioware's fanbase loves story driven games with lots of waifus... this game is literally nothing their base likes
Anthem had flop written all over it. EA was just too stupid to see it.
In their defense, apparently BioWare's leadership explicitly opposed the idea of drawing comparisons to other looter shooters because they didn't want the team limited by preconceptions. Which turned out to be a really dumb idea, because by drawing comparisons they could have figured out what worked for those kinds of games and what didn't, and save themselves a lot of time and trouble.
I think you're forgetting just how dogshit that first demo was. Anyone who wasn't sucking Bioware's dick knew this was going to crash and burn horribly after that demo.
People here say that for every game. A broken clock etc...
lmao Yea Forums was shitting on this game for years, since andromeda.
It actually did better than most people expected considering BioWare hasn't been fucking shuttered yet.
>never care for Anthem
>only shit on it time to time because of memes
>few days ago finally watch some gameplay
Why the fuck didn't they just make it a Monster Hunter World clone? With some thought put into it, it would be dope.
It was obvious that the game was going to be shit but none of us knew it was going to be this bad. Bricking user’s consoles, twitch viewership can’t even break a few hundred, people here even stopped talking about it a couple weeks after release. The game barely has a pulse now and I almost feel bad shitting on it.
Unironically this.Bioware is huge with girls/gays because their romance. It couldve still flop, but not this bad.
>EA has yet to kill bioware
what are they planning? By now they usually kill a studio.
> Don't care about loot
> Flying feels amazing
> Still enjoying it
DA4, apparently. They're going to be pushing extra hard on their usual live service revenue enhancement devices, probably because they've publicly stated they wouldn't do that with the Star Wars game the Titanfall guys are making.
I think everyone (except EA) guessed that a looter shooter without story from Nu-Bioware was going to suck balls
Thats the weird part, that they still keep Bioware (if even only in name) around
why would they expect games as a service from bioware to work with dragon age 4? anthem just happened.
>flop as badly as it did
Didn't it sell like 2 million?
I'm aware they obviously wanted way more, but that's still not the biggest flop on the planet. That would be like Sonic Boom, Okami and Shenmue levels of poor sales, which are still considered the absolute worst ever.
Games as a Service don't make most of their money from sales, but from microtransactions. The fact that it is so dead post-launch is a giant failure
They're banking hard on goodwill for the series since Inquisition did very well critically and commercially.
It looks boring as hell. Plus Bioware without rpg elements. No.
How dumb are you, I didn't see a single person hyped here on v. Who the fuck cares about gay space suit games anyway?
>Everyone predicted this game would flop as badly as it did
ftfy
Which has been more entertaining to watch crash and burn: Anthem or Fallout 76?
anthem was just a bad game
76 has had controversy after controversy to keep the fire going
It's kinda sad watching 76 fall apart the way it did because it's not limited to just the state of the game itself. Every time we thought it was done, some new aspect that's not even in the game itself caught fire and started the process anew.
Meanwhile, Anthem's just a bad game that decisively proved BioWare magic isn't a thing, and that people need to make some goddamn solid decisions during development. It's not nearly as depressing.
>not liking gay space suits
Anthem was flawed at the most fundamental levels.
FO76 is just a janky cashgrab.
they got experience for looter-shooter after realise of Mass Effect 3 and Andromeda but these multiplayer were shit i still played ME3 multiplayer with friends quite a lot tho
i guess they learnt nothing
No, you don't
>FO76 is just a janky cashgrab
Pretty much, Bethesda didnt put the future of the studio on the line with 76, they knew it was a mess but that it would make enough money from retards
Bioware is dead. Dragon age 4 never ever. I won, bitch!
Punished shill
Stand back bitch, this is the true champion
Hey, say what you want about gay but lay off the Warhammer.
Nigger it sold way more than it deserved, everybody had their doubts on it during the pre-release trailers, but as usual normalfaggots like to eat shit up, i had my fun during the beta but if there is no endgame why should i bother
Everyone with taste knew this wasn't even worth shit to begin with.
user what have you been smoking?
everyone but EA predicted it was going to flop
If you are a moron, like you seem to be, sure.
>bioware garbage
>spammed and shilled on Yea Forums
Almost 0% chance of success rate.
>>spammed and shilled on Yea Forums
That was pretty sad, even the shills knew the game was shit and they barely put any effort in defending it
after andromeda everyone had every reason to doubt bioware.
>But Andromeda was Montreal C Team, Anthem's from Edmonton A Team.
Almost every post about it on Yea Forums leading up to release was filled with self assurance that it would fail. Artifact, now that's one no one really predicted would flop THAT hard
Yep. It's pretty easy to see if a game is garbage or not, all it takes is to see Yea Forums's catalog. Anthem, Artifact (pretty easy one, card game garbage on a bloated market) Final Fantasy, most nintendo garbage, like smash, ME Andromeda, and so on and on. I believe the only recent exception was DMC V, the game looks good.
Bioware was always shit.
>they went back and forth with the flying for years
>eventually added it at the last second because an EA exec wanted to see the game
>they only kept it in because the exec loved it
I don't get it. Yea Forums finally had another tortanic and it was basically ignored. I don't get how Bioware shitting the bead could have gone so ignored here
Because everyone on Yea Forums saw it'll be shit, even if many underestimated just how much would Bioware fuck up. People actually had hopes for TORtanic.
I did. Since the very first trailer, you are all delusional
no it was obvious after MEA and even this shit's own trailers with casino slot machine numbers popping up for every hit so I enjoyed for about two months going to watch the redditors who actually wanted to play this shit gradually having to face the fucking reality
I totally forgot this game existed. All talk of it dropped completely off within a week of release.
>With some thought put into it, it would be dope.
This is the problem, they didn't put any thought into anything and the game was rushed as fuck
Anthem is like a group project where the group does nothing but shit out ideas without a solid plan, the only reason anthem turned into a game at all is because EA basically pushed them in a direction 1 and a half years before release, they had 6 years to make a game and 4 and a half were utterly wasted.
I did
I enjoyed Colossus, but honestly you can't release a game into a currently saturated market and then have no content or reasons to stick with your game.
Like shit Division 2 finally broke the trend of undoing everything the first game does and built off of Division 1, Destiny 2 was rocky as fuck but released and pumped enough shit dlcs down everyone's throat to finally get away from Activision and now has a brighter future ahead, and Warframe is always there looming as the elephant in the room that you will get compared too.
Anthem had one singular mechanic (flying) going for it, it tried basically nothing else new or interesting and then released without any content, yanked their roadmap and started spiraling downhill PR wise.
A looter-shooter where Bioware goes out of their way to ban people for looting and even removes game functions that they originally created to gain more loot. Any and everything they got, they brought it on themselves.
Wow so you are telling me an established title did better than a pushed out the door new IP?
I'm shocked and amazed.
Honestly the state of Anthem and Bioware is fucking depressing
Bioware's already dead. Everyone with talent is gone.
