Never played a heroes of might and magic game but they look interesting.
Should I just go with 7 or any newer similar games worth trying?

just go 3
3
3 is the most loved and played
A lot of people (though much less than 3) like 5 too
3 and 5
Everyone will say 3 but if your a zoomer go with 5 if your a super zoomer just play the latest one.
3,5 or King's Bounty or Discipline.
Play 3 you fucking plebeian.
By all that's good, don't play 7 or shit like that.
Go for 3 or 5, they are best ones.
2 and 3
Get either 3 and download HD mod or 5 with Heroes 5.5 mod.
Heroes series fan here. Play 3 if you want to understand what this game is; 5 if you need advanced graphics and more depth in your character skill trees.
There's also a thing almost no one will ever want to tell you. If you've never played any Heroes before, HoMM 4 is actually good. It plays like crap if you spent years in 3rd game due to huge mechanics differences BUT if you are starting with 4 you just might be open minded enough to love it. Also music there is godlike, imho best in the series.
SsethTzeentach on Youtube has amazing reviews on 2nd, 3rd and 4th game and I think I could not describe these games better than he did.
Everything after 5th game should not have existed, so you don't have to worry about it.
Kronwerks when?
I played 4 when I was a kid and really loved it, thought 5 was just ok. Should I try 3?
>Should I try 3?
Of course.
age of wonder 3
i have been thinking about playing through the singleplayer campaign for a heroes of might and magic game, which games has the best campaign? I have been thinking about giving the sixth one another chance, how is that one?
Heroes 2 and 3 have great but incredibly difficult campaigns.
HOMM 6 and 7 are fine, don't play the retro shit.
What's a good turn based strategy game if I'm too much of a zoomer for civ? Xcom is good but want to try something new.
King's Bounty is pretty much one fuckhuge HoMM campaign map.
(Talking about the more recent King's Bounties, not the original)
2 is much harder than 3.
3 has a few easy campaigns at first, anyone can win them.
2 wrecks you from the start even if you're experienced.
Play everything one after another, compare, come back and share your opinion. Difficulty wise 6 and 7 can't give you any challenge. Older games can.
"Best" is a very wide term, since everyone has their own opinion that might strongly differ from your own. 6th campaign is alright but gives no pleasure from gameplay perspective, you just stroll through it. To me it felt kind of empty.
The basic gameplay of HOMM has not aged well
and this is coming from a boomer
KB lacks all the city management part its a completely another thing.
That's true I suppose. Should've mentioned I was talking purely from combat perspective.
i played through warriors of the north last summer and had a blast. I was hoping that i could find something similar in Heroes of Might & Magic.
If i only had more time! I remember playing the fourth and fifth when i was younger but i never played their campaigns. I don't think i have played the first three games, everyone keeps praising the third one though.
I played Legend and Armored Princess probably to halfway or something until I got something better to do. May return to finish that at some point but it was literally 5 years ago. Forgot everything already.
get 3 and get it on gog, the steam version is trash
better yet, pirate it since NWC is dead and you'd just be funding ubisoft's drivel
The closest to coherent story I've played through were HoMM 4 Order, Chaos and Death campaigns. All other campaigns in both this and other games are just weak(?), I dunno. Lore wise, of course. If you are interested in a really nice read while playing visit those 3 I've just mentioned. If no, literally anything else will do, including 6th game.
Play 3, it's the best in the series. You should also try 2 for the 10/10 visuals and ost.
looks ugly as shit hopefully never
we're getting Factory instead
This right here.
