I think you're forgetting that JRPG's in general are still relatively niche in terms of sales, and overall popularity. They've just begun to break out of said territory recently, so 1.7 million is pretty good. Especially since any series not named KH's, or Final Fantasy usually flops in sales after its release.

The first 4, I can agree with. The last one doesn't bother me much, though. It's realistic to have various species doing their own thing in the land while you explore their environments.
I quite like having overlevelled monsters in the overworld. However I'm not sure if I'm remembering things incorrectly but I seem to remember XC1 having a bunch of very strong but docile monsters roaming around. In XC2, the strong monsters all seem to be aggressive.
I've had XC2 on my switch for nearly a year now and still haven't even booted it up once. The first one was ok but deeply flawed, and the story was a huge disappointment. This one looks like it takes itself less seriously and I like the animu art style, but still, I don't feel like playing it.
I think have the right mindset to enjoy it, actually. Definitely play it, user, it's a fun and endearing adventure. Just keep in mind the game takes its sweet time to fully open up the combat. It's done that way for you to actually master its mechanics little by little, but they definitely should've opened it in the 1st third of chapter 3, not wait until the chapter was over. But apart from that, I had a blast with its fun and wholesome adventure.

Takahashi was burned that Xenosaga failed so he really toned down the story of Xenoblade to be "simple, but good". He's even brought up how he's disappointed with Xenoblade 1's story, in comparison he calls Xenoblade 2's story a culmination of almost everything he's wanted to write into a game during his career.
It wasn't originally a "Xeno" game, in a sense that it's lacking references and aspects that are usually in Takahashi games like the Zohar, since it'd confuse new people. XC1 was originally called Monado, Blade of Life or something. I think it was actually mentioned in an interview, but I don't recall the particular one.

I don't have an issue with it, personally. I've always found that particular aspect of these games interesting, since it's realistic in a sense. Naturally, you should find species and monsters that are incredibly dangerous, roaming around the domains with lower leveled creatures. It's like an ecosystem of sorts, anywho.

The Aegis are essentially Monado. Mythra explains the ability upon her awakening in Chapter 4, and actually has a similar feature herself. It doesn't get any actual focus though, outside of being an evasion boost. That sucked, but whatever.

I imagine a XC1 remake would have some pretty big altercations to the story. That includes putting the actual Zohar in the game somehow, but likely during Zanza's boss fight.
Malos, Alvis and Mythra/Pyra are each one of the the cores in the trinity processor.
That's why each and every one of them have a distinctive blade. It is argued that Malos and Mythra aren't as powerful as Alvis and only got partial powers, like Mythra's foresight and Malos's Monado abilities.

My only wonder is what exactly will that world be like? When Klaus activated the Conduit, it was stated that multiple parts of Earth flew off into different dimensions. I imagine those dimensions would parallel Alrest, and be reshaped accordingly since the world was reconnected at the end of XC2.
I've never played a Tales title before. How does the music, plot, characters, and world usually hold up? I thought about getting the definitive version of Vesperia as an entry game, but I'm not sure. Arise looks interesting, though. Considering most JRPG's are breaking 1 million these days, I'm sure it'll do well.

As for what happened, Klaus only removed the Cloud Sea so they could go back to the regular Earth's continents after the nanomachines did their healing, but it doesn't mean Shulk's world and Rex's world (Earth) fused/are directly connected.
