Depends on what you're after. I'd generally recommend the 2000 for a new buyer but really you can't go wrong with either. There's no BAD vita.

Up to you, it really depends. I'd recommend at least 256GB.

2000 looks and feels much nicer, has onboard storage so you won't need a vita memory card to install hax and get the SD2Vita but 1000 has a OLED screen that looks much better which is a shame.

If you don't mind the LED screen I'd recommend the 2000

If you can borrow a memory card, you don't need to keep it for the 1k hacks either. That's the whole purpose of installing plugins to ur0 - that'll load sd2vita/psvsd at boot.

I was making the argument that the 2k screen looks pretty damn close to the 1k screen once modded, and while I do still think it looks great (especially if you've never seen a 1k screen), since getting this 3G unit I've remembered how good a Vita screen can look.

This thing was obviously hardly used, and the screen is still vibrant as FUCK. It's really a massive difference compared to my old launch wi-fi unit.

If you've never seen the OLED screen, than the 2000 screen looks fantastic. Undoubtedly. It'll be fine for most people.

It's also worth keeping in mind that the 2000's screen is much more stable. It's not going to get notably worse as long as you don't leave it to burn in on one image for 40 hours or something dumb that'd fuck up any screen. The 1000's however, runs into issues with the blue subpixels dying off with extended use no matter how much care you otherwise take of it.

I would say 256GB minimum for a healthy amount of Vita/PSP/PS1 games. But obviously you'll need to higher if you're really planning on stocking up.

Its also worth noting that the scenario you're talking about only happens after literally thousands and thousands of hours and isn't really a cause for concern.

I'm not talking about them completely dying, I'm talking about a noticeable yellowing of the image. It's still a long-term concern, I agree, but it's still something worth discussing for people planning on using their Vitas into the future.

I know what you meant. The blue issue only happens after thousands of hours. The large majority of Vita owners will never even see these issues, that's just the truth of it.

Not really a big deal since replacing a Vita OLED is like, $20-$30 and they're really easy to replace if it ever goes down that road.

One thing I really appreciate about the Vita is just how easy it is to repair. Very easy to get to everything.

Yeah, I've replaced almost everything external on my 2k except for the buttons since it was a scratched up used unit and it's glorious. The front panel replacement is a pain but that's because you're essentially transplanting the innards of your handheld into a whole new chassis, versus replacing an individual component.

You can tell by the last digit on your Vita's model number.

if you're asking for specifics, i don't have them, but it's going to generally be things like small optimizations here and there at this point. the homebrew's probably also a bit more stable and less likely to crash.

Vita games, better screen, second stick, option for a grip case that gives you physical L2/R2 for PS1 games. Some people also like the left stick better for PSP games. There's also some PSP games that've been modded for native res and dual analog control.

Any one here has experience with NoPayStation? I'm also looking to dump my cartridges so I can rum them without using it since i'm using SD2Vita card adapter.

3DS homebrew never really got anywhere because it wasn't powerful enough to do much more than the PSP and the PSP community was already established. It's not the worst homebrew scene ever but it's pretty piracy-focused while there's more variety on PSP/PSV.
The Switch's scene is a clusterfuck not helped by the people trying to charge actual fucking money for CFWs. It has the potential to be great but it ain't there yet. It's also less portable a portable. The Vita's more convenient for a lot of travel.

Right now Daedalus in PSP mode runs worse because of how PSP support works on Vita. Basically there's one piece of PSP hardware that's emulated instead of built-in, which is fine normally because no official software ever directly used it, but some homebrew like Daedalus did direct stuff with it.
There's currently a port project going though, no clue how far along it is.

Not really, when I get essentially perfect emulation of Ocarina of Time on my laptop with Mupen64Plus.

I'm sure there are tiny inaccuracies just because of the nature of emulation, but I haven't noticed a single one. The game runs flawlessly from my experience, or indeed much BETTER than flawlessly, because you can increase the speed of emulation vastly in order to get through cutscenes. And yes I have completed the whole game on emulator. I own the original cartridge and console, but being able to play at higher resolutions (which look VASTLY superior), and being able to fast forward through cutscenes, and being able to use a controller with a better analog stick, and being able to boot up the game much quicker, are all very good reasons why I play on the emulator.

N64 emulation on PC has been solid for nearly 20 years. I remember using Project64 back in the early 2000s and my memory is of games running at 100%, easily, even back in those days. These days you can run games at more than 100% even with a cheap laptop.

I just downgraded to 6.0, and now I'm trying to run the HENkaku exploit through the browser. It gave me an error but looked like it tried to install anyways. No molecular bubble so I did the troubleshooting and tried clearing cache and cookies before trying it again, but now the site is saying i'm on 6.5 when the system is still on 6.0 and it wont let me try again.

Henkaku removes itself when you restart the Vita so you can just restart it to redo it.

I'm playing Mary Skelter right now and I think I'm nearly finished with that area.
From what I can tell you'll want Rage Rush and Amber Red from the Marshal job for the fighters. Later on you'll probably want to change to Destroyer to maximize damage.
For archers you'll want Random Rush from the Speed Gunner job, Gigantast from Blood Hunter job and Weaken Skill from Sniper.
For magician the skill Mortal Force from the Blood Witch job is extremely good. It can also be used to fill everyone's blood gauge and then used again after everyone is transformed to replenish their HP/SP since Mortal Force always hit weaknesses.
Libero line is apparently the worst. You can do Poet temporarily if you can't replace party members yet.
Scientist line is the one I'm least sure of. Get Hollow Vision from Scientist job though. I'm using Item Meister with maxed out Treasure Hunt job skill and Item skill. Apparently the Mimic and Logic jobs are supposed to be quite useful as well.

Go to the Nopaystation website, click the database link, and follow the tutorial instructions on the first page of the googledoc (readme 2.5). After that you can close the window and launch the program again and you can just search games and download them directly to the folder you specified during the setup

I believe that is how the system works, yes. People buy the game and upload it on there, then you download it to your PC from the ps servers.
Once you have the game file, you transfer the file over the same way you moved the files over when you hacked it, or just put your SD card into the PC directly. The games get put into ux0: apps

Honestly, I don't know what to tell you other than dealing with it, it's not like the 3DS was ever renowned for its specs or build quality, what with the snapping nubs, self scratching screens and whatever else.
