Children are picky and have lots of other options to chose from so you have to invest time and effort in capturing their attention. Older players are likely part of the fanbase and will be buying the games for years to come regardless of whether you cater to them or not

When Pokemon Sleep was revealed I felt back for still liking Pokemon.

But when pic related was revealed I remembered that there are people that buy computers and phones that literally do the same as older computers and phones but cost more.

They lost the secret tome of making good games sometime shortly after G/S/C. They were able to make the Gen V games good by asking Iwata for the secrets directly, but nobody bothered to write them down and now he's gone

GSC is the most soulless mainline game, instead of trying to actually make something new they were like "bruh, West Kanto", only 100 new pokemon and a third of them were Kanto evolutions or pre-evolutions, so every motherfucking route was just Kanto. That wasn't fixed in HGSS.
