It's an interesting change for the tails series, but I'd rather they just work on improving their anime aesthetic instead of giving up and going towards photorealism.
I've seen a few jrpgs this gen start to lean that way and it doesn't look too good when you try to put realistic lighting and shaders on anime character designs and aesthetics(see: jump force).

Berseria was literally a berserk tales game. It’s easy to get spooked and went full retard on creative bankruptcy after you faced one failure of zestiria.

I feel like people who talk about the gacha waifus are the ones who didn't play XC2 and just go on google to look them up. They are a very small part of the game, and if you play through the main story you'll only see like half of them.

Meanwhile the main casts' designs are all great. Rex is bad, sure, but everyone else ranges from good to great. I especially like Zeke and Pandoria.
