But it's been years, the events suck, the lore is flaccid, and it has a negative impact on characters' likeability. While Overwatch is objectively better when taken with as little seriousness is possible, Blizzard is too autistic to know what makes anything about games fun. Kaplan hates Mayhem and has no sense on how to implement casual fun modes.
Overwatch could have used something like PropHunt, and such an obvious answer has never been a Blizzard consideration. Esports seemed like a more interesting investment to them.

It's the only thing that makes sense. You have a game that has and is being sold as a continuously updated e-sport model like LoL. Lootboxes are integral in keeping the money train rolling for this game. Just recently we are hearing about anti-lootbox legislation being talked about in congress and it is gaining a lot of traction, especially with the public. People do not like lootboxes and generally want them gone by any means. This is very recent news, so the timing of this means they could be related. Obviously correlation does not always equal causation, but in this case I think there is some merit to it. After all, OW 1 came out like 3 years ago right? Why would they be working on a sequel SO SOON if it wasn't critically important?

I haven't touched it since Heart of the Swarm, so I can't comment on any changes they might have made balance wise for multiplayer, but the campaigns were fun. Making upgrade choices and what missions to take makes everything feel a bit more involved and personal. The story is still kind of wank though. Blizzard needs to get over their whole shtick with characters like Kerrigan and Sylvanas.
