Best/worst boss?
Best/worst boss?
>best
Midir
>worst
Treeballs
Best is Gael for obvious reasons
Worst is Oceiros because of his bugged no windup animation instakill charge attack
The worst is camera of the storm
>best
Gael
>worst
probably Wolnir
>best
I'm gonna be a contrarian fag and say the demons/demon prince
>worst
shitty ballsack tree
Best, that’s tough. DS3 has the best collection of bosses from any of the games, and by a big amount. It’s between Midir and Friede for me though.
Worst, easily the darkness skeleton guy. Wholnir. I would also nominate Ana’s watchers because they came far too early in the game. They would have been much better as a later game boss.
Demon prince is a great fight
>Best
Gael
>Worst
I really don't dislike any of DS3's bosses, but Deacons are kind of pushovers.
>Best
Lothric and Lorian
>Worst
Deacons of the deep
Best: Twin Princes
Worst: Dragonslayer Armor
Both in the same level, funny
>Best
Crystal Sage
>Worst
Oceiros easily
>best
The Champ
>worst
meme skelly king
In this thread we list things Dark Souls 2 did that were far better than Dark Souls 3. I'll start:
>No bonfire and no death challenge where you can beat the game without resting at a bonfire or dying to gain a reward and bragging rights
>Non-linear first half of the game allows you to rush straight to the areas of the game that contain the items for your build
>Chugging Estus immobilizes you, and the heal isn't instantaneous meaning trying to chug while someone is sticking close to you will result in death
>Stamina regeneration is tied to weight, so a character at 10% burden will recover their bar faster than a character at 70% burden, giving an advantage and a reason to make a low burden character
>Poise exists and armor provides relevant, but not overpowering damage reduction, giving an advantage and a reason to make a high burden character
>Phantoms and Dark Spirits cannot chug estus, spirits can only heal via spell useage which is slow. This makes fighting outnumbered even without mob assistance possible since any damage you do sticks
>Can only perform four rolls before running out of stamina
>Can only perform 5 attacks of a rapier or straight sword before running out of stamina
>Parrying has longer recovery frames and consumes more stamina, making parry fishing riskier and makes parrying require higher skill
>Power stance allowing for unique combinations of dual wielding and unlocking an alternative moveset for weapons
>Being able to use the full moveset of a weapon in your off-hand including running, rolling, backstepping, etc. attacks rather than just being able to do a basic R1 swing and blocking with the weapon as it is in Ds3 (lmao who would ever want to weapon block)
>Bell Tower covenant providing two unique optional areas to PvP for Titanite Chunks, Slabs, and Twinkling, making farming for upgrades fun
>Bonfire ascetics to replay bosses you like and or gain items from NG+ and beyond without grinding through the whole game again
>Non-DLC
Champion Gundyr because he's a badass and so is his theme.
>DLC
Coin toss between Gæl and M'dir. Gæl feels like a proper final boss to the series and M'dir is the only good dragon fight we've had since Kalameet.
powerful
cringe
Friede is the best. This fucking scene right here where the scream starts is still the best moment of the entire series. youtu.be
>I haven't bothered to play the DLC
>Best
Abyss Watchers. I would even say it's the best fight in the franchise.
>Worst
Alot of shit, but king bone is the worst.
>Best
Gael, Friede, Nameless
>Worst
Deacons
As for bosses I don't like I guess Sister Friede since you can stunlock and backstab her plus the fight just drags on way too long. She'd be the edgiest person in the series if Maria didn't exist
>best
either champion gundyr or dancer (gundyr's fucking based but dancer was the fight that finally got me acclimated to the game's playstyle compared to the other souls games/bloodborne)
worst:
wolnir's a gimmick fight and yhorm's not even that fun without the storm ruler and basically a puzzle boss with the storm ruler so.
>i don't like because you can ruin the fight if you want
>wah too long and hard
Well which is it?
oceiros is braindead if you use a shield. he cant break your stamina like ever.
>Worst: Dragonslayer Armor
where's my strawpoll to know if I picked right or not?
Wolnir looked so damn cool in the early trailers. Too bad the fight ended up sucking.
>best
Abyss watchers but only because I went for them before Cathedral of the deep and they were actual challenge
>worse
wolnir / deacons
It is pretty tucking metal
Literally never said anything about the fight being hard just that it drags itself too long to make up for lack of content in the DLC. Also if you're going to get assblasted about how people fight a boss it should be when someone is summoning for them. The boss AI goes into turbo autism mode which turns the boss and whole game into easy mode.
simply marvelous
>Best
Abyss watchers
>Worst
Deacons
Can we do best/worst enemies?
>Best
Dark Wraiths and Ringed Knights, badasses with awesome weapons that are fun to fight. Always get shivers from the first Ringed Knight you meet when he goes into the sword weapon art. Reminds me of the first Blood Drunk Hunter you meet in the Hunter's Nightmare when he kills the small beasts with the Beast Cutter.
>Worst
Sludge monsters with 6 million HP that take forever to kill and drop a measly amount of souls. Seriously fuck those little shits.
>best
lots of good ones, but i like sully the bully
>worst
either yhorn or wolnir. both looked pretty cool in the early trailers then ended up being disappointing fights.
>best
Gael obviously, best in the series in my opinion
>worst
Wolnir, deacons at least has a sweet theme and is a fun fight for retards who don't know how they work on their first run
this unironically looks better than the best of DS2 though
>People hate the tree
Why?
I think it's a meh boss but I understand why some people hate it, it's a gimmick boss that you have to suffer through instead of ending in in 10 seconds like Wolnir
It's a gay fight, the villagers or whatever are worthless and waiting your turn to attack because fag tree is protecting his balls is retarded.
It's a gimmick boss yes, but it's also fun to fight.
Best boss is Gael while worst boss is Ancient Wyvern
ds 2 is better
>best
gundyr/dragonslayer armor
>worst
twin princess
Ancient Wyvern isn't a boss, it's a scripted gauntlet.
>replying to copypasta that has been posted over two hundred times by now
The worst enemy is probably the big guys at Archdragon Peak that can hit you from a million miles away with the chain.
>Best fight
>Midir
I mean he's cool, don't get me wrong. But he wasn't designed right around the camera. For something so big I'm having a hell of a time hitting him.
>Best
Uncle Gael
>Worst
Demon Prince
>best
Two Princes
>Worst
Tree
I like doing no shield runs though
Imo rolling should always be viable
Demon Prince was kino
>best
Twin Princes
>worst
Yhorm or Ancient Wyvern
Let's extend it to the whole series. Best / Worst.
Demon's: False King Allant / Leechmonger.
Dark 1: Knight Artorias / Bed of Chaos
Dark 2: Fume Knight / Prowling Magus and Congregation
Bloodborne: Orphan of Kos / Celestial Emissary
Dark 3: Sister Friede / Curse-Rotted Greatwood
This guy (the one that carries the earth seeker) is underrated. He's really tough but only shows up once in the dlc.
This guy is an absolute rape machine made of hatred, tied with the big Hamlet sharks for nastiest enemy in the whole goddamn series.
>every single one is just looking down at out of bound textures
>Best
Gael
>Worst
Sould of Cinder
The fucker has way too much fucking HP and the ones in the first phase just run all over the goddamn place, not to mention their screams.
>Dark Souls 3
>shortest game
>bonfires out the ass
>filled to the brim with shitty references
>massive amounts of on-disc cut content that will be sold as DLC
>rehashed areas in an already short game
>A third of the game is a swamp
>the game punishes invaders and encourages ganking
>no arena
>Heavy armor sucks
>Armor variety is less than DS2 BASE game, despite copypasting a 3rd of the armors from previous games
>Magic needs 2-3 ring slots just to dish out melee level damage
>Magic itself does reduced damage for PvP
>removes a shit ton of spells from the previous game
>awful scaling balance
>FP is the most awful casting management system introduced yet (worse than DeS mana, which had better regen options and more efficient)
>FP horribly ineffiecent with damage, ends up causing everyone to use 1 or 2 FP efficient spell like Great Heavy Soul Arrow
>Miracles awful, best and most viable one locked behind the final boss
>bland NG+
>awful covenants
>no blue eye orb
>blue sentinels and darkmoons the exact same
>left hand weapons no longer have full movesets
>dual wield weapons are gimmicks
>boss weapons can’t be infused
>Straight Swords and Curved Sword are as fast as daggers
>Great Weapons are slower than previous games, and costs more stamina, while barely doing more damage
>1-2 Weapons ALWAYS the best in class, no redeeming qualitys for special weapons resulting in less weapon variety than BB
>very little moveset variation
>WA are mostly shit or copypasted powerstance moves
>No backstep i-frame
>rolls have too much i-frames and cost too little stamina
>bloodborne enemies catered to R1 spam from ss and cs
>hexes gone and dark magic is shit
>shittiest dragon form
>no dragon covenant
>refined/hollow completely dominates
>DLC has so far been shit
>19 bosses, a good chunk being gimmicks
>linear level design, less branching options than DeS, DS2, and even BB
>b-but the DLC will save it!
>b-but other games have faults!
lmfao
>that webm
Simply outskilled
lol
wait how the fuck did I never see this scene? was it removed from the DLC before release?
Rape monkey in Sekiro is way harder desu
you feelin ok there champ?
Try not mashing the skip button
to be clear, I don't remember seeing any cinematics after the first one when she walks in, fuck maybe my memory is just bad or i accidentally skipped it dozens of times
Sekiro > DS3 > BB > DS1 > DS2
First DS1... Then DS2... Third... DS3!!!
POWERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!
That last bit of Archdragon Peak with 2 of the big snakemen and tons of the little sneks was brutal for an melee-only build
the, uh, flow of time in wherever that place is is, like, constipated and stuff heh heh
>DS3 is the most soulless.
>hype everyone up with Yorhm, make him a shit DeS reference
>fill it with DS1 references, because "dude remember DS1". Only two story lines that actually justified it was Nameless King and Old Demon King which resolved plot lines
>fill it with Bloodborne assets because Bloodborne was good, so Dark Souls needs to be Bloodborne
>ignore all improvements made in DS2, regressed so far they sold fanboys a reskinned boss arena when multiple were base in 2
>weapons that were unique like FUGS become worse and shallow, left handed movesets are removed so you block with daggers like a retard again, instead of dual weilding everything there are "dual-wield approved" weapon sets
careful friend, you might make the ds2 apologists cranky
You don't sound like you're having a good time maybe you're just playing it wrong me and all the anons here had a blast
>Hallway world design
>Braindead, shallow R1 spam combat
>Non-existent stamina management
>Poison swamps: the game
>Zero originality in every single facet of the game
Prove me wrong: This is one of the worst games of all time.
but DS3 shamelessly references DeS more than it does DS1
the only shameless DS1 reference is the onion knight, everything else feels like just a continuation of DS1 rather than DUDE REMEMBER
laughed at the webm serves the loser right for cheating
Old Demon King was basically the boss they wanted for DS1 and replaced with Bed of Chaos because they ran out of time, right?
never heard this before, but its interesting if true
The Mound Maker's covenant (greatwood tree hole) was originally supposed to lead to the Catacombs. It would have made perfect sense and have fixed the early linearity problem DS3 has.
It's in a long interview with the team where Miyazaki explained why Bed of Chaos sucks and how Old King Izalith was supposed to be the "boss".
Also the reason Izalith/Demon Ruins sucks is because they basically had "teams" making each area at the same time and the guy in charge of Izalith was inexperienced.
>>Best
Hard to say, I just loved so many of them. Maybe Twin princes for me, I just love how frantic it is and I like the teleporting gimmick.
>>Worst
A tie between Wolnir and Tree.
Wolnir either puts you in a situation from which you cannot escape without death or simply because he at times dies so fast you don't even see his phase two. A couple bosses in dark 3 have extremely weird health pools.
Tree is just weird. I would probably rank him better if he didn't have the attack where he splashes either seeds or poison everywhere. His phase two is awkward as well and all you do is running around him the entire fight.
I'd also add though that I really really like Deacons and Sages as bosses. Some bosses in Dark 3 are somehow remakes of shittier ones from the other games and I found both of them extremely fun. I would like the community would at times stop equating difficulty and how many times they died as measure of the quality of a fight.
youtu.be
Fire destroys the sludge guys and dark destroys the fire ones that are in the demon ruins area
I don't know how much some extra route connections would have fixed the problems. The main issue is you almost never have a reason to go back to the areas in DaS3 after your first visit. And the reason for THAT is teleportation being available from the start. Shortcuts are only used within an area, not between areas.
an alternate path would have been nice. it always felt weird having the catacombs right after abyss watchers.
never heard that before, but it makes sense. usually people just say they ran out of time or whatever. sucks that izalith was bad because the whole cambodian hell temple aesthetic was a cool idea.
>mfw the one time I saw Wolnir summon a sword
I've never used or made a magic build because I'm not a gay loser. I just want to kill people by stabbing them or smashing them with my big weapons.
you know you can infuse your big weapons, right?
>shamelessly references DeS
You say that like it's a bad thing, shame we didn't get I'm gonna suck the soul level out of you like in Demon's though. I was real happy to see the player as a boss fight for the ringed dlc like with Demon's.
465181684
Tone it down a bit dude, your bait is starting to get too obvious. The pastas alone are more effective
465185083
I mean, I am not going to defend it, but by this logic every single game from has made in the past ten years is shit. Fuck, even Sekiro delights you almost immediately with that one ogre and his weird ass grabs. I usually just run away from grabs, seems like the best course of action.
>Best
love Lothric Knights and how much variety they have in their attacks. The shield bash is great
>Worst
those fucking rolling stone lizards in Archdragon Peak
>Best
Gael
>Worst
Any dragon boss
Herald is too good for DS2.
imagine being so insecure about your opinion
Unironically Demon Princes were my favorite fight mechanic wise and also style wise with all that pyromancy awesomeness.
reddit.com
Pontiff was going to be the final boss. Makes sense when you consider Pontiff is responsible for literally everything bad in DS3.
wait so all that's wrong with DS2 is below average textures occasionally? Sweet!
Deacons is the worst boss but also the most fun if you use the Farron Greatsword weapon art
>best
gael
>worst

I cheesed every other fight so I have nothing to say about them
